This gift shop is open daily however the entire North Rim only operates mid May to Oct due to snow. You can find all your typical gift shop goodies such as art, books, crafts, souvenirs, clothing, snacks, etc. Great little shop located directly right in front of the lodge.

John Verkamp sold souvenirs from a tent to visitors who came to the Grand Canyon in the late 1800's. The Verkamps eventually constructed this building and built their business on service to their guests, employees, and to the surrounding community. They were instrumental in building the Grand Canyon community to what it is today. After the building was sold, it became a visitor and education center. The views are absolutely incredible and it's one of the best places to admire and photograph the Grand Canyon. The parking lot is huge, but signage indicated it definitely fills up during busy times. Thankfully, we arrived later in the day, so parking wasn't an issue for us. Overall, even with the crowds, it's a well-run visitor center and a great place to begin your Grand Canyon adventure.

It's clever to separate all the amenities so the buildings don't get flooded with people; rather it's all split out with a central outdoor area. Just a little far out are the stops for the shuttle system.
