a display of candy and sweets

Another one of the many souvenir shops in Williams. Arizona, Williams, Rt. 66, Grand Canyon merchandise may all be found here. The Rt. 66 inspired shops all seem to be 1/3 the same type stuff and 2/3 different. This shop was no exception. They do have a fun supply of hot sauces. Many may be found in grocery stores. There are some fun ones that are not as common. There is also a selection of retro inspired candies. The plant yourself traveling cactus gardens were cute. They also sold ones that were pre planted. Cowhide rugs are another item that was unique to this shop. Customer service was friendly.

Salt water taffy, which was housed in a Taffy Room with tons of flavors

Went in here for salt water taffy around 7:30 on a snowy Monday. Upon asking what time they closed, the cashier said she didn't know and was playing it by ear. We did find this odd but were just turned away at Pizza Factory next door, who said they were getting ready to close (1.5 hours before their advertises closing time). Must be a small town thing? But anywhoo, the cashier was very sweet and pointed us in the direction of the taffy room, which had tons of barrels with differing flavors to choose from. There were also other unique treats and other large rooms with gifts, clothing, toys and Rte. 66 gear. A few random items we glanced at seemed pretty pricey but that is to be expected in a tourist shop. The service was great and we got what we came for. We spent a little over $6 on our taffy but really wished that they had grape and watermelon flavors. Crossing fingers for next year when we stop in.

    So many hot sauces!

The parade was amazing and creative, everyone was having fun and enjoying the time there, however it was very crowded. They were handing out free candy, santa hats, and hot chocolate; it was delicious. At the very end they lit up a big Christmas tree and everyone went on their way with a smile on their face.

With The Grand Canyon Railroad being centrally located in the city, you could see what the main draw was to this town. Tourism is the main source of revenue for the city. Williams is a city that has a mix of the old west with a few modern additions. There is a McDonald's and a 24 hour Safeway store for your convenience. However, you'll find several mom and pop shops throughout the city. Also, there is strong support for the military and a tremendous amount of patriotism! You can buy your hunting and fishing license at the local stores as well. This town has something for everyone! We happened to be in town during the Williams Christmas Parade. So many locals lined the streets, anticipating the arrival of the floats. The fire trucks and police cars were decorated with Xmas lights. Local children rode on the back of the floats wishing everyone a merry Christmas. People passed out candy and beads as they were working their way down the street. They were even passing out free cups of hot cocoa, warm cookies, and candy canes. Williams is a great city to visit when you want to explore The Grand Canyon. When you return to the city, there are plenty of restaurants for you to chose from. The souvenir chops are reasonable, offering a great assortment of products. It can be very cold in Williams as well. It does snow here and I think we missed the snow by a week! Nevertheless, I really enjoyed staying in this little town. The locals are very friendly and this is a great getaway from the big city!

I'm a disabled veteran with PTSD & said my dog was a service dog & not a pet. He called me a bitch & said his wife was allergic, which I informed him that per the ADA allergies is not an excuse for denying a service animal. Again he called me a bitch & said my dog wasn't wearing a vest. I also informed him per the ADA service dogs aren't required to have signage. I couldn't even disclose the 2 question rule as he postured & called me names. At one point I was trying to pull up the law for him but he physically tried to push me out of the building. Once he pushed me off he slammed the garage door to make sure he could pick & choose who could come in. As I was leaving a Yelp review there were several other patrons who said during COVID he denied them access if they were wearing masks. Another said he denied due to race. So this owner seems to have no issues breaking the ADA multiple times. So I filed an ADA claim against him with the DOJ. Others should follow suit. Edit: came back when door was opened (he thought I wasn't going to come back) to take a picture of his allergy & no pets sign. Wife was sitting there unaffected of my service dog being on the other side of the building for 5-10 min which her husband claimed she'd die if my service dog stepped foot in that establishment.

I understand that for some, this will result in an apoplectic display of unadulterated, authentic frontier jibberish... but if you can get past this point, there are some cheapish finds here if you're willing to lower your standards to a level of basic utility and accept the nearly disposable nature of items found here (note, there's a Dollar General around the corner, but if you don't like Family Dollar's pricing, you're gonna have a bad time there, too.) Staying with the kids at a nearby hotel, we wandered in for cheap hotel toys, batteries, and some warm hats and gloves. All of these items were found quickly in the somewhat cluttered but small store. Several "end displays" of assorted bins of crapulent knock-off toys block the entrance/exit, and likely excite the Fire Marshal on his bi-annual visits. Cheap ski caps for a dollar and mittens/gloves for $3 were ours for the taking. Five year old daughter selected some terrible Shopkins toy, and sons settled on walkie talkies with a 6 ft. range and lots of "squelch" (sorry Millenial readers, you grew up in a world of telecommunications in which squelch was probably irrelevant...) Anyway, I enjoy pawing through discount store stock like some kind of starving raccoon... sometimes, you just might find the proverbial lobster tail that got dropped on the floor. Don't hate on Family Dollar; just think of them as Big Lots' smaller second cousin with a superfluous third nipple and maybe missing a toe on her left foot.
