Two campground employees noticed our struggle and stopped to help. They had the tools to loosen the lug nuts and then stayed to help us finish changing the tire. Couldn't have done it without their help!

Our friends brought an RV and it was so fun to experience the campground together. It's a big campsite with 4 other loops surrounding the lake PLUS day use passes with no fee available! If you don't have kayaks, paddle boards, canoes, you can rent them by the hour at the Black Bear Shack which also serves up some XL size slushies and yummy ol' fashioned ice cream all the necessities you may want like ice, wood, etc. Although you can't swim in the lake, the fishing is GREAT and so is the size of the lake to let the littles go explore on their own in a kayak! It did rain on us one night but was welcomed coming from Phoenix! Also campfires are allowed so yay for s'mores, story telling and just intentional family time. We will be back for sure. We had the best time!! And yes port-o-potties are the main option but thank God for baby wipes and honestly, amazing hosts who kept it clean and the smell manageable.

Unfortunately, we couldn't have a fire due to fire restrictions. However, we were able to bring our own gas-powered fire pit. I'm glad my husband checked the website a few days prior to our reservation, otherwise we wouldn't have known. It would be nice to get informed by email if you have a reservation about fire restrictions, because if we didn't bring our blackstone to make our food, I would have been very upset. Before arriving, I did some research on the black bear shack that our friends told us about, but sadly found out they are not at this campground anymore. The road coming in is extremely bumpy and rough. When leaving the campground, I recommend going left instead of right. Our cars needed a very good car wash after! The campground is very beautiful. The weather was perfect; in the 50s at night and high 70s in the afternoon. I would definitely camp here again.

There is no grass within walking distance for a dog, Do NOT use the dog boarding. Upon arriving to pick up my dog, he had no access to the outdoors and his water bowl was completely empty. She said that she had just cleaned and shut his outside access "10 minutes ago". We were several hours early to pick him up, so what if we had waited?! I wish I could review this separately, but don't see it listed on here, so at least I can try and let others know on here.

There isn't another experience in Arizona where you can see free-roaming bears, bison, elk, wolves, deer, etc., so up close and personal, all within half a mile of each other. I guess you could go out in the woods, but I doubt the experience would end quite as well. The park is separated into two areas: the driving area and the walking area. I believe both are optional and you can do one or the other. I'd recommend doing both because they're both unique in their own ways. The driving area is a 20-30 minute slowwww drive around the park, where the animals are sectioned off in free-roaming areas. They all seem incredibly well-cared for, and are pretty accustomed to the constant flow of cars with people stopping to stare at them. In fact, in the wolf section, the wolf pack actually got up and crossed the road right in front of us. One actually stopped within a few feet of our car and just kinda hung out staring at as with a "whatcha lookin at bruh" vibe for a minute or two before scampering off. It's a little harder to see the animals in certain areas, like the black bear section. This isn't any fault of the parks - black bears blend in pretty well with trees. We still managed to see quite a few, and even saw one bear at the end jump in a little pond for a quick dip! The walking section is pretty small, but packed with really cool exhibits that let you get very close (albeit still very safe) to the animals. We were within 10 feet of an adult grizzly, which is an experience neither my kids or I will ever forget! We loved the bobcats, leopards, elks, and otters too! This place isn't some janky, questionable side of the road zoo. The park is clean, the employees were extremely friendly, and the animals looked very healthy and happy in their spacious areas. You can also tell the employees genuinely care about the animals, and are incredibly invested in educating the park guests about all the magnificent creatures. Oh, it's also very reasonably priced! Kids under 3 or 4 are free, so for my 4 year old, 2 year old, and two adults, I think the price of admission was about $60-70. Given, we went on a weekday so prices were a bit cheaper. Even still, I recall weekend pricing only being $5-10 per person more expensive. Truly a great deal for memories that are priceless! If you're in Flagstaff or the surrounding areas and are looking for a fun way to spend 2-3 hours, Bearizona is calling your name!

We got there maybe 20 minutes before opening and were waiting at the gate behind a car that was there already. So come time they opened and let us through, we were able to thoroughly take our time without worrying someone behind us wanting to go faster. There is signage telling you when you do need to have your windows up so you can't miss that. Otherwise, you can let but never feed. There is a drive through section and then end it with a walking section. The gates opened at 8am but most of the shops and such don't open until 10am. So the walking part was quicker for us than I've heard it can be for others - but it also helped us save money. Haha there was a big gift shop attached towards the back (where they also have a restaurant), and we spent plenty of time and money there. Overall, it was maybe about a 2 hour trip.

We had called ahead several times and left messages, but no one ever answered or returned our calls or emails. Because we had no way to get into our cabin, we had to pay for another hotel for the night. The next morning, when the office opened, we went back to check in. Unfortunately, we were met with a poor attitude and no greeting, which made us feel unwelcome. We were told that the cabin keys had been left outside for us to pick up, but no one had ever informed us of that or responded to our attempts to contact the property. Instead of the cabin we reserved, we were placed in a much smaller railcar room. We asked to speak with the manager and were told she would not be available until 5:00 p.m. I didn't realize we had been moved to a different, smaller unit until later that afternoon when I checked my booking confirmation and finally spoke with the manager. The manager refunded only a small portion of the charges, but we were still billed for both nights in the smaller room, despite not receiving the accommodations we originally reserved and losing our first night's stay because of the lack of communication. The property itself needs a lot of work and our experience was very disappointing due to the poor communication, lack of after-hours check-in instructions, and unsatisfactory customer service. They claim they have a playground and show a picture from probably many years ago because all they have is a tire swing.

For the price, I expected the accommodations to be much more comfortable and better maintained. The campground itself also felt boring, especially for families with children. There was not much to do, the on-site store was overpriced, and some of the basic amenities were disappointing. The Wi-Fi was weak and unreliable, the sites felt too close together, and the nearby highway noise took away from the outdoor camping feel. Cleanliness and management also seemed to be an issue. Bathrooms and facilities should be checked and cleaned regularly, especially with the number of employees around. Instead, it felt like things were being overlooked. For a KOA, I expected better organization, better communication, and better attention to guests. The staff who were friendly deserve credit, but management needs serious improvement. At this price point, guests should not be uncomfortable, bored, dealing with poor maintenance, or feeling like basic issues are being ignored. Overall, there are a few good things here, but not enough for me to recommend it or want to stay again.

The Kaibab National forest covers 1.6 million acres, from canyons to prairies and mountain peaks. There are three sections: the North Kaibab Ranger District (north of Grand Canyon National Park), the Tusayan Ranger District (south of Grand Canyon National Park), and the Williams Ranger District. There are several visitor centers that have information about the area and things to do. Some of the national forest is scarred by forest fire, but new plant life is colonizing those areas again.

Also, I don't like spending over $500 a night and having to walk a block to get my morning coffee. The food and the service was very good. But it is overpriced for the experience.
