Dogtown Lake is in the Kaibab National Forest and is about 6 miles from Williams, AZ. It's a great spot for camping, fishing and nature hiking. You also get a great view of the nearby Bill Williams mountain. The campground has about 50 sites and includes running water and restrooms. The roads are dirt roads and the campground is less than a mile from the lake. In case you are wondering, Dogtown Lake got its name from the many prairie dog towns that once covered open areas near the lake. Even though those days are long gone, the lake kept the name. The lake is stocked with trout, crappie and catfish. You can also kayak or canoe on the lake. This is a nice getaway if you are looking to get out of the Valley for a couple days. Flagstaff, Bearzona and the Grand Canyon are not too far of drive if you want to make a trip out of your drive up here.

Nice large drive thru lots. Picnic table and fire pit

Spacious lots. 24$ single, 40$ double. No hook up. Nice size lake. No swimming. Really beautiful !! getting here in our large RV and boat was a wee bit bumpy over 3miles. They do not enforce quiet hours here (10pm) Party goers didnt shut down next to us till way past midnight.. so that sucked listening to beer pong all night

Great camp site and lake. The camp sites are not on the lake but start less than half a mile from it. Restrooms were decent but no showers available at this site.

Got lucky and snagged a spot Wednesday b4 4th of July. Was close to lake also. Margaret and Martin were the camp workers and were amazing. They stop by everyday to talk to my kids about there day and fish they caught. We caught fish everyday. We will go back. I wish they gave military discount since they are a state park.

Near the poop house -last campsite left when booking online. It didn't smell too bad. :|

What a nice little gem near the Grand Canyon. We accidentally took the long way around to the campground thanks to google maps! Going south through Williams is your best bet. We took some weird exit off the I-40 ended up on some pothole filled road and I was scared our sedan couldn't handle. We took it slow and finally arrived at the campground and set up. The sun had already set and there is no street lights/lights even in the bathroom areas. This is nice since there is not a lot of light pollution obstructing the stars. They have a fire ring and table at all of the sites. We got lucky and the previous campers left us some good wood to use. Score! The restrooms were kept clean by the staff but no sink so don't forget to bring some hand sanitizer. Eww. They do have a pump that is drinking water though. We stayed for 2 nights and occupied our time by going on a little hike around the lake, cooking and just enjoying nature and the fresh air. We went back into town before we left I guess that's something to do while staying here but it's like 30 minutes to town but only a few actual miles since the road is rough in spots. Everyone was respectful of the quite hours and it was a nice stay away from the heat of the valley in July. We will come back again but this time more prepared for the elements. It does get a little chilly it went as low as 48° and coming from Phoenix it was freezing to us! A must stay if you want to get out of the city!

Unfortunately, we couldn't have a fire due to fire restrictions. However, we were able to bring our own gas-powered fire pit. I'm glad my husband checked the website a few days prior to our reservation, otherwise we wouldn't have known. It would be nice to get informed by email if you have a reservation about fire restrictions, because if we didn't bring our blackstone to make our food, I would have been very upset. Before arriving, I did some research on the black bear shack that our friends told us about, but sadly found out they are not at this campground anymore. The road coming in is extremely bumpy and rough. When leaving the campground, I recommend going left instead of right. Our cars needed a very good car wash after! The campground is very beautiful. The weather was perfect; in the 50s at night and high 70s in the afternoon. I would definitely camp here again.

Railside RV Ranch (Williams, AZ) - June 13, 2023 We've…read morestayed at this RV park a few times before. It's about an hour south of the South Rim of the Grand Canyon, about an hour or so north of Sedona, and less than an hour west of Flagstaff. So it is nicely placed to do excursions. Also, since it's virtually impossible to get a campsite at the Grand Canyon, this RV park works out pretty well for us. Aside from the convenience of accessing other areas, the town of Williams itself is very charming. We always find there's plenty to do. It's less than a five minute drive from the RV site to the center of town where they have plenty of restaurants and gift shops to check out, a nice wine shop, and a couple of breweries. The town of Williams is part of the Route 66 Highway, and the town has a 50s/60s vibe to it, almost like a scene out of American Graffiti. One of our favorite things to do when we're here is go to Cruiser's Route 66 Cafe where you can get a smoked brisket sandwich, burger, and the like, as well as drinks from a full bar, as you listen to live music from talented local musician John Carpino, as he sings and plays acoustic guitar, harmonica, and percussion doing a variety of classic rock, country, and audience favorites. One of the things we really love about this park is they have a dog washing station. They also have a laundry mat. There is a Spa area that we've used in the past, but it was out of service this time around. Not sure why. Maybe it was a casualty of COVID. There is a train track terminal in the town of Williams, so there are occasional trains that go by the park taking passengers up to the Grand Canyon. We've never done the train ride, but that sounds like something fun to do. The point is, you'll hear some train noise sometimes in the middle of the night. Still not enough to knock my review below 5 stars. The WIFI is OK. We were actually able to stream some of our shows, but oftentimes, we would loose the signal. Again, still not enough to knock my review below 5 stars.
