She responded with "well, they're $200 glasses". It's not like my daughter was acting inappropriately with them. She was gentle and cautious, just like an adult would be while trying them on. Also, as a responsible parent, I would have absolutely paid for them if she damaged them. I don't mind the attendant asking her to be careful, it's the way she said it. 5 minutes later my teenager went into the same store and overheard the attendant on the phone with someone saying she just kicked us out. I was able to find a great deal at one of the stores! Still worth walking around to look and browse through some stores. But when you've got 20+ pieces of non-sale items sitting in the middle of a rack clearly marked for a discount, that's just bad practice. Feels less like shopping and more like a setup. First asked for clarification about how discounts work. Then a price check. After the sale I walked over to confirm sign. Someone asked me "can J help you", I Asked if this is how they normally do things? And got a casual "yeah" and a shrug. No effort to make it right, no attempt to meet halfway. Just a quick apology and move on. I've worked customer service. If something ends up on a sale rack, you own it. You fix it. Or at least try.
