I rarely provide reviews, but I had a great encounter at footwear, etc., this afternoon. I am a middle-aged female in need of a high-quality running shoe to invigorate my new workout regimen and I had the joy of meeting Sky. He greeted me kindly and listened to my situation. He was as friendly as he was knowledgeable. I took a while trying to find a shoe that worked for me, but he wasn't pushy and he made me feel like he valued my opinion and prioritized my needs. At one point there was four shoppers, and only himself, and he never left me (or the other clients) hanging. Yesterday I went to a shoe store in Solana Beach on 101 that treated me like dirt, so this was quite a pleasant contrast. Thank you Sky, and I will bring myself and my family back when we need new kicks. read more

Glad they are carrying Hokas now, most comfortable, cushiony shoes ever. Mostly a women's shop, limited men's selection and only shoes. Staff is super friendly and knowledgeable! They extended an online discount so I bought two pairs of Hokas slip-ins! Best deal ever! read more

Came by because I really needed OOFOS for my planter fasciitis. I saw them online and didn't want to wait for shipping so I saw they had them available. Online they were $20 cheaper. But Danielle was so helpful, she let me try on several pairs and once I found the right one she even honored the online price! I will totally be back. I think this is a great spot to purchase shoes if you see something online that they have. read more

Amanda was absolutely fantastic when I went in looking for new sneakers. You see, I suffered with heel pain, self-treated, and just ignored it for 3 months while still putting in a good amount of miles in before actually seeing my doctor. X-rays ruled out a stress fracture and I was sent to podiatrist. Diagnosis? Severe plantar fasciitis. Cortisone shot to calm everything down quickly and lots of home care instructions....one of them being a visit to Footwear etc. Amanda listened to my sob story without batting an eye and went straight to work. She used a super fancy machine, analyzed my feet, and started pulling out box after box. No pressure- very low key. The store may look small but they must have a secret basement or something to hold all their inventory! Lo and behold, we found a winner. Footwear, etc is located in a small strip mall with limited parking in the front. There's more parking in the back. Prices are on point with other specialized shoe stores. Good shoes aren't cheap but neither are copays to specialty doctors and xrays. Pick your poison. ;) read more

Footwear etc - Plethora of sneakers! - Shoe Stores Near Me - Encinitas, California

My wife has oddly shaped feet. We had trouble finding walking shoes for her that didn't hurt her feet. We tried many shoe stores, and time after time we ended up donating her new shoes to a charity because they didn't work out. I can't remember where we learned about Footwear etc, but by the time we found it and went there, and parked in the back as they recommended, I must confess that I was not hopeful. But when we walked into the store we were met by a very capable sales person who sat us down (well, I stayed back because I didn't come in to buy shoes) and talked to my wife until she figured out what would work. We took 2 pairs of walking shoes home with us and ordered a third. They were all the same model, but different patterns and appearances. The brand was one that I had never heard of, "Topo", but it fit my wife's foot perfectly and made her feel much safer when walking outdoors. While I was waiting, I noticed a pair of shoes that were a brand I had read about (Kizik). My son is in the fancy sneaker business--he sells high end Nike SB Dunk shoes and likes it when I wear those--but I decided to get a pair of Kizik shoes anyhow. They work well for me, but I only wear them on days when I know I won't see my son or his children, who would rat on me for not wearing Nikes. read more

The service given to my handicapped customer was top notch. I have already recommended the shoe store but mostly Natelina Blake the young woman who helped us. Nate Lina was knolagable of product and was very patient with my client who has Parkinson. Shoe selection is great. I will be back to see Natelina to buy shoes. read more

Unique experience relative to most all shoe stores. The focus here is on great shoes that: - are made well - fit perfectly - provide the highest levels of comfort and support ...basically, all thier shoe brands do everything a shoe 'should' do rather than act as just an adornment. The other notable element, that is unique to Footwear Etc., are the high levels of knowledge the staff possesses, regarding both thier product itself and the proper fit and utility of such, and the investment they are willing to make in each client they interact with to ensure the shoes they are considering are appropriate for what they are being utilized for. For those with a budget concern, the shoes are not inexpensive; however, their price reflects the value of the shoe's quality, not thier marketing polish, and Footwear Etc. prices are very competitive to major online and chain stores - which become even kinder when you factor in Footwear Etc.'s promos and loyalty program. We were fortunate enough to have Danielle Shively guide us through finding the perfect shoe for my wife's particular needs: narrow foot, hip pain, long shifts on her feet the whole time, slip resistant, etc. Danielle's product knowledge was exceptional; even knowing quite a bit about other brands they do not carry, or non-stocked lines of shoes within the brands they do carry, for compare/contrast pourposes. Danielle worked completely as our consultant while applying no pressure at all. Her patient thoroughness left my wife feeling very well cared for! And, Danielle made time to walk us through all the services, policies and programs Footwear Etc. has in place to best utilize thier services - amazing! End result, my wife returned from her first shift at work in her new shoes, which Danielle specifically guided us towards, feeling the best she ever has after a long shift on her feet! Looking forward to visiting again as loyal clients of Danielle! read more

Good selection and sales people who know their stuff Not cheap but no more expensive than online, others stores, etc.

I called ahead of time and they were very kind and accommodating. They helped me pick out what I need incredibly well.

The staff is very helpful. They have very fine shoes and they take their time to fit you well. If they do not have your size they will get it for you to try before buying or will ship it to you free, an you are given time to return the shoes within 30 days if you do not like them or they prove uncomfortable. Their prices are standard but they do have good items on sale all the time. read more

Great selection of comfortable shoes. Professional sales people. Family owned business. We purchased from them more than once.

I shopped at the Encinitas store yesterday for 2.25 hours. Our sales associate, Sky, deserves an award for his patience, candor, and exemplary customer service. I tried on at least 20+ pair of shoes and he did not waiver from his friendliness and good nature. In my defense, Sky averaged one sale every 30 minutes as we purchased four pair of shoes with his expert advice and suggestions. I definitely recommend a visit to this store and I plan to return. read more

Waited 45 minutes to try on 4 pairs of shoes. Felt bad for sales associate clearly only one person can help people at a time as the other 3 employees stood at the counter staring at me. Ended up leaving and wasting my time bc I couldn't wait for her to talk to another customer that just walked in as I had been waiting forever for a smaller size. Management clearly needs to change their sales layout. read more

Amazing experience. Located in the Ralphs strip mall right off Encinitas boulevard. Parking was not too bad, there were a few spots but it is a busy shopping center. It is tucked in the back corner between Ralphs and Trader Joes. I called yesterday to ask some questions and a very helpful associate answered all of my questions on some brands and equipment that my doctor referred. The doctor from Scripps also gave me a 10% off coupon. I went in today (Saturday) and Kendra was there to help. She was very friendly as soon as I walked in the door. She checked to see if I needed any help and then proceeded to answer all of my questions and provided me with several options. Kendra was extremely knowledgeable, and was not afraid to give me her honest opinion on the brands that she uses and likes. I really appreciated her advice since the shoes I was looking at are 2-4x more than I would normally spend I wanted some good advice. Doctor recommended Brooks, Hoka, and New Balance for shoes and Cadence for insoles. I normally would get New Balance but I liked the look and quality of the Brooks and Hoka a little better so I only tried those on. The Brooks were nice but a little snug and the laces were too short and as soon as I tried the Hoka Bondi 7 on I knew those were the ones for me. I also found out they really only last for 500 miles and probably should be replaced every 3-6 months. I didn't know all that and not wearing proper foot wear probably led to my foot problems. I also got some nice tempurpedic slippers and Cadence insoles for my new shoes and some for my dress shoes. Kendra signed me up for their rewards program, mentioned the sale on Cadence insoles (buy 1 and get 1 at 50% off), the special on the slippers (double points on the reward program), and was also able to apply 10% on the whole order. They didn't have everything in stock but free shipping to my house. The whole experience was amazing and AWESOME. I am hopeful and so is the doctor that these shoes may help avoid foot surgery so I am glad to spend more if they are helpful, which I think they will be. read more

My mom took me to the store to get my opinion on a pair of shoes she was eyeing, but it turned out to be a great experience for me as well. I found a super cute pair of reefs, sneakers, and a tote. All on sale. Natelina helped us and was superb. Best customer service! She was super helpful letting us try things on and even price matched the bag I liked with the retailer's online price. Truly so sweet and helpful. read more

Update: Decided to try again, glad I did. Pros: Naomi and other sales assoc. They all seemed trained to greet the guest, offer assistance and then back off while you shop. This is awesome, hate it when people hover, always feel pressured. These people assist, then stand back at the counter until you need something or another size to try on. Perfect amount of service. Cons:I'd like more options, my $176 Hokas are awesome, but would like more options. read more

Footwear etc - Hours open except when they aren't..... - Shoe Stores Near Me - Encinitas, California

Rewards I would have given them a five and then I debated about a 3 or 4 solely based on my visit a few days ago. I'd seen some sneakers online that I love were now on sale so I went into the store to purchase them thinking I could use my reward points from a big shopping trip last November. I knew I had to wait a month before I could use my rewards, but I was completely surprised when I was told that my points had expired! They expire after 4 months which seems completely ridiculous. That part isn't mentioned in the Rewards Terms and Conditions on their website. There was also no email or text saying that my rewards were getting ready to expire. I was also surprised when the sales person said she could get the sneaker at the sale price for me, but not in the color I wanted even though that color was shown online as being available. I'll go back, but the rewards program is pretty useless. read more

Amazing service. If you are tired of buying shoes that only kind of fit, and you want quality shoes that look great and provide the kind of support your feet need, then look no further. I have bought a number of shoes online which I thought should fit based on my sizing. And I got tired of wondering if I need an 8.5 or 9 and if it would work out. So I went to the Encinitas location looking for some cute ankle boots. While they carry a number of brands I had never heard of that are great for my feet, like Taos, NAOT, Munro, Ziera, Reiker, they didn't have ankle boots on hand in my size but I could order and have them shipped to my home at no charge. So I went ahead and did that. I received them in 3 days and they generally fit but were tight in a few places. I brought them into the store and Eric said it was no problem-- he stretched them in the tight areas and added heel cushions for a better grip. He also showed me how to switch out the insoles to shift the position of my foot within the shoe. So now I am eternally grateful that I have a pair of ankle boots I love and they love me. You just don't find this kind of service elsewhere. It is so worth coming here and buying shoes locally. You'll find fashionable shoes that don't look like orthopedic shoes. They are now located in the small strip mall next to Chick's Natural Chicken. ;-) read more

A few weeks ago I went to Footwear etc. I needed a sandal that was comfortable and supportive enough to walk on uneven, slick cobblestone. I have always worn heels and the thought of a sensible shoe frightened me. Tara spent so much time with me. We found some that not only were the most comfortable shoeI have ever worn, but also really cute. One day on my vacation, the other couple we were with decided to climb the 999 stairs to the Palamidi Castle. I was wearing my sanders. The stairs were cobblestone and dirt. All the way up I kept getting strange looks and comments "you can't walk this in those". Little did everyone know, these are way better than my tennis shoes!! Thank you I seriously couldn't have done it without you read more

I've bought 12 pairs of shoes from Footwear Etc, so this review is long overdue. I love everything about this store. Their incredible selection of cool, foot-healthy shoes in store and online. Their great rewards program. The generous return policy. Free shipping. Standing behind their shoes 100%. And last but not least their personable and patient staff, especially Natalina and Noemi, who always remember my name and are kind and knowledgeable. Shopping here has gotten to be a little bit of an addiction, but my feet thank me for it. read more

Everything went very well with my first time visit.I was met by a sales rep as soon as I entered. She looked at paper work I received from my orthopedist and quickly found two pair of arch supports to try. She encouraged me to walk around and try them as much as I wanted. I chose the one that felt the best and bought two pair. I received 10% discount based on referral. Price with discount was less then from Amazon. read more

I had the best experience yesterday at the Encinitas store! I had purchased a pair of the most comfortable cute black boots about a month ago that had a construction issue. Tara and Noemi took care of it right away. Then, I was looking for a pair of comfortable walking shoes for some trips. Tara gave me great advise and I purchased a few pairs, a couple on sale. The culture inside the store is so friendly and authentic, you might just want to hang out. Seeing Nat at the store was another meant to be moment. Footwear etc. was recommended by my podiatrist. If you have foot problems this is the place to go. You will go from foot torture to foot paradise. They will patiently have you try on shoes until you find the right one. The first pair I tried I made me feel like Michael Jordan dunking from the top of the key. Footware etc. is the greatest. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. Karen helped me. Your feet will feel like a million dollars. You will feel like you have a new pair of feet. You will feel like you are walking on the moon. They use a computer to medically analyze your feet like a podiatrist and they take it from there. No More Pain. read more

I am a long time shopper of the Encinitas Footwear Etc. I am so very pleased with their recent move around the corner!!! They now have a HUGE selection of shoes. Apparently, the move now offers more storage room, hence more options for us as the customer. Yahoooo! I must say that Kendra is the reason I look forward to my return next month! She was so incredibly helpful and knowledgeable about all of the various options available for my specific orthodic needs. I appreciated her friendly approach not just with me, but with every customer who walked through the door. Kendra is a true gem! :-) read more

Footwear Etc. stands apart from the self-help, big box franchises peddling disposable fashion. The team at Footwear Etc. Encinitas is committed to customer service and quality footwear. I happened to call the store 1/2 hour before closing for the 4th of July holiday asking if they had stock of a particular pair of non-slip shoes needed for a job. Sandra answered happily and went above and beyond to have shoes waiting in the right size when I arrived. That level of service is a rarity these days and is so greatly appreciated. Because of Sandra's proactive support, we were able to try on shoes, make a selection and pay all with 10 minutes to spare before the store closed. Thank you, Sandra!! For those concerned about the cost of shoes sold at Footwear Etc., bear in mind you will buy one pair of shoes at Footwear Etc. that will last several years versus spending a fraction of the cost at big box franchises that last a fraction of the time and result in foot and back problems. The shoes sold at Footwear Etc. enable people to be comfortable on their feet all day. That value is priceless. read more
