I enjoy shopping at this store. At times I just come in to just wonder around, in case I find something I like. Of course I find something in the jewelry store, always get things to spoil my dog with, snacks for my husband and things for decoration around the house. Once in a while I find a nice outfit or something nice for my husband. Only thing I'm not the biggest fan of is the cosmetics area. The coordinator "Rosie" who usually works in jewelry department, is terrible. She speaks to customers in a condescending manner, and her overall attitude is "better than". I've encountered her multiple times, and have yet to see her be friendly. She felt the need to remind me of additional (non-jewelry) items I had in my cart, asked if I wanted to pay for them (which is not allowed at the jewelry counter). Her tone was as if I planned on stealing a $6 body lotion. It makes you wonder if she is a reflection of the stores perception of minorities as a whole. Where has the Runway Designer Dept gone? One lame sign hanging and racks of regular cheap clothing. Why does checkout staff harass repeatedly to open their credit card when my card is in the machine processing and I am questioned why I do not want theirs. Rude and none of their business. Manager type woman on the mike trying to gets donations for whatever cancer hospital when there were over 15 in-line WAITING to make purchase. I asked Laura that was working behind the jewelry counter to put a purse on hold. It was super special and for my mom's birthday. We specifically told her we would come back that night to buy it so I gave her my name and everything. She even said see you later! When we came back to buy it, she said it was sold and pretended like she didn't know who sold it. She ended up being the one who sold it and completely lied. The managers were apologetic but Laura had horrible customer service and should be reprimanded. Huge disappointment to the company. read more

I used to find good deals here but I think COVID19 is limiting their supply. Been doing a lot of online shopping these days but after dropping my iPhone one to many times, I thought I could find a nicely priced clear, screen protector at TJ Maxx. I found one for 9 USD. Seemed like a good deal. Until I opened the sealed box and saw the screen was already broken. I don't keep credit card receipts because I monitor my credit card transactions with a fine tooth comb and I do not like messy pieces of paper. So even though I just bought the screen protector, without a receipt, I could not return it. The one star is the employee that giggled at my situation when she explained me her answer "no" read more

I was pleasantly surprised when I found this store. Way better than Ross by my house. This location was organized so well (except for a few things in the 'active' section that really didn't belong there). The ladies section was quite large....taking up 45%-ish of the store. If I had more time, I would've grabbed a ton of stuff. I specifically went in looking for a certain hairdryer...and they had it! Major score! Register 1 cashier(woman with accent, Tri colored skirt, brown top, late 50s) Saturday 10:55am, she went to scan 7 for all man kind jacket for $60 that I was going to purchase. She began to rip the tag off then took the jacket to another cashier and asked if that tag was the right one for jacket because it was so cheap. She then 5 MINUTES APPLYING THE TAG AGAIN WHILE I HAD TO WAIT. The cashier proceeded to have the audacity to tell me people put tags on nicer items like this one and it looked like someone put the tag on themselves. I had some time to kill today while getting tires put on my car. And I was sad at having to spend $400+ buckaroonies on two freaking tires. So what do I do? Go look for some place to spend more money. Normally I would avoid TJ Maxx like the plague but it was the only clothing store within walking distance from the tire place. When I walked in I was immediately confused. It had gone under a complete transformation. This can't be TJ Maxx. It's too nice. It's too clean. The racks are organized and have actual current fashions. I thought I may have been dreaming because my previous experience with this chain and especially this store is that they are disgusting pits that you have to pick through every single rack to find anything halfway decent. So after perusing the racks for about 10 minutes I'm ready to hit the dressing rooms. This is usually the most unpleasant experience at any discount store. Stinky, dirty, doors don't lock, poor lighting, and a soulless indifferent attendant. Well wow what a change. There was a couch in the dressing room. Yes you heard me a couch. A very nice couch. The rooms had huge mirrors and were were well lit in a way that didn't make you look anemic with greasy hair. When I was done the attendant told me to have a nice day. That was just too much. I wasn't expecting that. I actually think it's the very first time a dressing room attendant at one of these places have ever even spoken to me other than asking how many items I have. So when it's time to check out I go to the very front of the store where they have a long counter with about 8 cashiers. All smiling, pleasant, nicely dressed with real hair eyebrows and not the ones drawn in. I feel like I'm gone to another dimension. I waited in a line of about 6 people and was out of that line in less than 5 minutes. This is the best discount store experience I have ever ever had. I'm not sure if that's a good thing because now I'm gonna be shopping all of the time at TJ Maxx. And you should too. read more

I have to hand it to the Tj Maxx team for delivering higher end off priced merchandise.Years ago I associated the chain store with second-tier merchandise, and I was horribly wrong. Tj Maxx is part of a large American chain with enormous purchasing power, and they leverage that power to bring bargain prices right to the consumer. This location is nicely laid out and has racks of designer merchandise. Last week I set out to find some sandals before the stores prepared for the blistering chill of San Diego's winter season. The small shoe selection is not huge, but nested in with the rhinestone gladiators and frumpy comfort shoes, I found a hidden gem. My eyes focused right on a pair of Michael Kors leather sandals for only $130, full retail price on those babies is $320 and I had to have them. Shopping at TJ Maxx is a hit and miss experience. If you know exactly what you are looking for then my recommendation is to shop elsewhere. The ebb and flow of merchandise through this store is erratic and they do not carry all of the sizes in a fashion line. If you have patience and vision then this is a place for you. Sifting through racks of obtuse fashion to score a treasure may take some time but if you are lucky it will be worth a trip. For the fashionistas out there, try the Runway section, clothes in this line range up to about $300 per item, crushing my stereotype of cheap couture. I highly recommend shopping at TJ Maxx for luggage, especially if your airline charges for checked bags. I was able to purchase an ultra light carry on for about the same cost as checking my bag. So being proven wrong is not necessarily a bad thing, I am happy that Tj Maxx shattered my expectations. read more

Probably the best TJ Maxx in San Diego hands down as far as high end items. Store is clean, organized, plenty of items to choose from but hit or miss as are all the discounted stores. You can go there with something in mind & not find it but find a million other things you can't live without but it could also be one of those days where you leave with nothing. Best to look up and down every aisle in order to find all the hidden gems. As far as customer service this TJ Maxx is ok, not the best not the worst just decent. Literally the worse TJ MAxx ... always dirty, can never find anything! Sizes of clothes shoes etc in the wrong place, Everything has something missing or broken and even if you're willing to pay full price for the 2 for one item because someone else stole the other one, the manager (older woman with long black hair and bangs with a HORRIBLE attitude) refused and had another employee search everywhere for the missing piece!! It being the only one in that color and size! The woman still refused to sell It to me!! This TJ Maxx is nicer than most, but it can get crowded sometimes. I feel there are more men's clothing options here than at other locations but it might just be my imagination. Cashiers are very courteous and they have "cute" little shopping carts which don't take up entire aisles. Note that they recently stopped using plastic bags, so either bring your own reusable bag or opt for the old giant paper grocery bag which is at least recyclable. read more

I am an avid TJ Max shopper- I'm there almost everyday and I love it there. I've been loving it a lot more lately because there seems to be a new face who seems to genuinely care and want to be there, her cashier station is always nice and she seems engaged when being taught by some of the already helpful staff members - her name is Hung or Hong? I haven't gotten a good look at her name tag but it's refreshing to see someone who looks to genuinely wants to be there and is not afraid to ask for help from associates to make sure everything goes right on both ends. She even complimented the shirt I was buying and was intentional in conversation after needing some much detail therapy from my week. My point for this review (which I meant to write way sooner about the already great staff like Angie and some of the ladies from the fitting room) is being is during these tougher times where times are tough, it's nice to go into a store and see some people hard at work that seem to have a true care about their job. I always leave here with a treasure or two but I have to be in serious shopping mode to come in here since there's so many aisles and racks to comb through. This location is great often having more high end items than other TJ Maxx stores and ever since the remodel it's been much more organized with a cleaner feel. Bringing my daughter in here isn't always the best idea since she manages to find more items than me much faster than I can, giving her plenty of time to rehearse why she needs 10 pairs of knee socks, 5 hoodies in various colors, and workout gear to match mine..with a gym bag to carry it all. All of the workers are friendly so the customer service is great! Keep up the good work guys! read more

I love that you are honestly always getting new things into your stores and it's nice to see you are rolling with the seasons! I just had to review this place because I love a bargain and I found the biggest one I've ever found last week. I've shopped here for years and have made many purchases and saved probably thousands over that time span. But this one tops them all. I'm going through the clearance rack in the mens dept. and I spot a tuxedo. Not just any tuxedo, but a Georgio Armani tuxedo! I see that it's not my size but it was so perfect I tried it on. Not even close. I'm looking for the price tag and as I go through the pockets I find the retail tag...I was stunned. $3,650!!! TJ had it on sale for $199. Ladies and gentlemen, that's a bargain. I should have bought it right then. If my tailor couldn't make it work, I could have sold it on eBay! They were going for $900 there. Oh well, maybe next time. Great place to get scented candles. $5 - 10 will get you a medium/large size that will burn for a while. The scents and brands are better than the garbage you'd get at Target or Wal-Mart. If you need a random item like housewares, a muffin tin or a Snuggie for your dog (they had them) you can look here too. Usually TJ Maxx stores are awesome, this store is an exception. Non-existent Men's clothing Women's Accessories are hit or miss and the handbags are always a disaster. Employees are consistently underwhelming more like retail zombies. Women's shoes are so-so. If you're looking for an outfit or shoes for a day of event this store is NOT a sure bet. However, if you're with a girlfriend or want a retail distraction and don't mind cleaving through a somewhat messy, unreliably stocked store this location will serve that. The saving arena is their selection of pet products and home accessories. 4 stars for these latter two sections of the store. Additionally, their restrooms are clean. read more
