I'd bet you a strawberry scone that this little coffee shop had been studied, dissected, analyzed, and pined after by every trend hunting Hollywood set locater attempting to capture and recreate the compelling magic of a college coffee house. It's perfect in it's Central Perk-ish predictability -- tasty fresh brewed coffee served up in funky handmade mugs, live music nights, cozy seating, freshly baked treats, free wifi, and packed full of students (dressed the part, obviously,) studying, chatting, browsing... It's like a case study in coffee shopology -- truly a little bean biosphere in the middle of Kansas. And I'm so so SO thankful I got to be a lab rat. I'll sign up for this caffeinated experiment any day... it's just the location we've got to negotiate.

The girl behind the counter knew her stuff from the minute we checked in. Any time someone starts off with body and mouth feel, I feel confident where're settling into good hands. I'm a coffee snob, and lived their mix of offerings for the black coffee fan. They had 3 in addition to their house, including a Tanzania, which she recommended to me. If an African bean is involved, I'm there, and did not regret my choice. They have a healthy variety of tempting scones and quiche on hand, which I might have to try later. But come on, it's all about the roast and the service, and both were welcoming and in command. There is ample seating, and at 8am, it was mostly a few professors and to go customers. All in all, friendly service always brings me back, and the brew stands up to anything I spend twice on in New York. The Baristas' positive, polite attitudes have put me in a good mood this morning, and would be enough to make me a regular. Would highly recommend to anyone who cares about coffee, or just loves a welcoming environment.

Love love love the Black Forest coffee and the sausage hand pie is delicious! My bf ate all of his pineapple carrot muffin without letting me try it, but I suppose that's a recommendation in itself lol.

Cute local spot for coffee when you're in the city of Manhattan. Radina's is located in the Downtown area, and few storefronts down from Varsity Donuts. We came in after waiting in line at Varsity to pick up our donuts (the maple bacon bar is highly recommended!), and opted for a simple Large House Coffee (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/radinas-coffeehouse-and-roastery-manhattan?select=Odk7QBuH7PXOAGSjuvR_sg#Odk7QBuH7PXOAGSjuvR_sg). I can't remember how much we paid, but it was a reasonable price for good coffee. Note you'll likely see a line here as well, but it moves pretty quickly. Parking in this area can be difficult during the crazy game day weekends, but there is a good amount of street parking available.

Back to Manhattan for my high school reunion. A great place to start the day with a coffee and sweets!

My Mom enjoying Radina's! We make it a point to stop in and enjoy a Polar Mocha whenever I'm in town.

Online it said they offer grab and go cakes but no guarantees so I tried to call the number listed to ask ahead of time. No answer. I was calling within business hours. I decided to just drop in. The place is adorable with an amazing outdoor seating area and great seating inside. They had a good sized lunch crowd. I went straight to the bakery counter. No full cakes. They had like 3/4 of a Halloween cake being sold piece by piece. The date was 11/2. I asked someone about cakes and all she said was "not today". They had adorable little personal cheesecakes but at $7 a pop- not something I could get for my mom's Birthday. She didn't try to offer me a solid price for the 3/4 cake that was clearly a few days old. You'd think they would want it out the door. I ended up leaving with nothing and settling for the Hyvee bakery. Leaving was a bit of a mess. The parking lot is crazy confusing and I was forced to exit out of an area that said entrance only. The only other way out of the lot was between buildings and it was blocked. I'm guessing this is a great place. Just not for me on this day.

The inside was charming, and you could tell everything was made in house. From the freshly baked breads to the treats on display. We ordered a few scones, a quiche, a chicken salad, and of course, two dirty chai lattes. The food was absolutely delicious, but unfortunately, the coffee was a letdown. The chai lattes didn't taste like chai at all, which was disappointing given they were nearly $15 for both. I mentioned it to an employee, who simply explained how they were made, but didn't seem too concerned at first. Thankfully, after a short while, she brought us two new ones and those were actual chai lattes. Much better! The place did feel a little disorganized, like the staff wasn't quite in sync, but maybe that was just my impression. Aside from the initial coffee mishap, everything else was great!
