I was really disappointed in McAlisters last night! I've always loved their awesome spuds topped with meats and cheese and sauces!!! But last night, I went expecting to see that awesome Angus Spud and it wasn't on the menu anymore!!! I was reduced to the Pulled pork & Mac n Cheese spud but my disappointment was only beginning! When I got it home, the first bite told me this potato was baked much earlier in the day and held in a warmer way, way, way too long. It was no longer tender soft potato! It was hard and dried out even black on the bottom! I'm one of those people who enjoys eating a crispy potato skin, too! So this was especially disheartening! Then the generous helping of Mac n cheese covered up the fact that they were so chintzy with the Pulled Pork! Barely 3 small bites!!! Had lunch there today, soooo good! I had the Reuben sandwich with a side of potato salad! Always comes with a pickle and that's a nice touch. They have amazing raspberry lemonade as well. Walking in, the restaurant has a very open atmosphere. Upon entrance, we were greeted quickly. It was our first time so we asked about the menu and received some recommendations. Using the "pick 2", I got a half sandwich and spud. The Southwest Chicken was perfectly filling - it tasted a little bland at first, but then as you chew, the spices really creep up on you! The Chipotle Spud was really carried by the chipotle sauce, but the chicken and cheese balanced out well. This is a great McAlister's. When I first moved to Manhattan I went there for lunch. They were really crowded and it took forever to get my food. It was very frustrating. The manager came by and apologized and gave me a coupon for a free meal. Over all I love the atmosphere and menu. This is the best place I have found to get a baked potato in Manhattan. I decided to eat here after my husband voiced over and over again that this place is better than Panera. I am a Panera patriot and I figured it must be really good if he made such big claims. I ordered a chipotle something or other and mashed potatoes with gravy. To drink I got the wild berry sweet tea. The sauce in the chipotle ciabatta sandwich did not taste like chipotle at all. It was a really good sandwich, but it didn't even have a hint of chipotle. The sauce was more sweet and tangy than it was spicy. The mashed potatoes arrived cold and with a ridiculous amount of salty gravy. Had I known I would've skipped the gravy. To top it all off, the sweet tea was way too sweet. I don't know what kind of syrup they use for the wild berry. I could only take three sips before I gave up on the drink. I have to note that the staff is very friendly and the atmosphere is very casual and calm. Was it better than Panera? Not even close. The prices were better, but the taste and quality of the food was not. In all honesty, it reminded me of school cafeteria food. read more

Everything I've tried here is great but my go to is the club and a side of broccoli cheddar soup, life changing! If you are a sweet tea fan, there's is a must. It is so good and it comes in a huge cup, plus they offer refills so you will definitely get your fix! They just recently re modeled and it looks fantastic! They also have togo and you can order from their app, it makes things so much easier! I'm not a big sweet tea drinker, but my girlfriend raves about the sweet tea here so I recommend trying that if you have the chance. This location can get pretty busy, especially around K-State football games. That said, McAlister's Deli also offers a convenient online ordering system so your food will be ready for pickup when you arrive if you don't feel like waiting for a table. Unfortunately they were so busy that there were no clean tables - went to outside seating but the odor and flies chased us back inside. We have been going there for years and they have an awesome selection of deli food for a good price. Their kids meal prices can't be beat either. Not only is the food always good but the service rocks. The other week I took my 2 year old because she loves their Mac n cheese. Somehow she managed to take a bite out of the plastic spoon and swallowed it. The staff went above and beyond and even checked in later to make sure she didn't end up needing medical attention. Laura was the manager and she went so far as to help find the spoon that I had thrown away in case the doctor needed to see how large the piece was. We chose McAlister's for our 23rd anniversary dinner!! A young lady with the most beautiful light blue eyes took our order, and a young sandwich genius named Israel prepared our deli-ectable meal. I got the original club and it's loaded with meat. My wife got the grilled cheese which looked great - 4 cheeses I think!! (And thankfully my wife doesn't care for dill pickles so I got hers!!! ) We got it all to go in just a few minutes, drove to a nearby lake and had a great sunset meal! Normally I love McAlister's and experience nothing short of amazing service. Tonight I ordered through DoorDash and my sandwich was incorrect. The gentleman on the phone told me it was probably a box mix up. He said he would write my name in a book for a free sandwich on my next visit and that if I wanted I could come in right now. If I could come in I wouldn't have ordered from DoorDash so that doesn't really help me. Plus I already paid for this sandwich that I can't eat so that doesn't help me either. It is though the best place for iced tea and the sandwiches are generally freshly made. I'm from the South, so sweet tea is a way of life for me. I've ordered online from here for lunch during work a few times so I could get my sweet tea fix. The sweet tea has been great! The food, not so much. Both times I've ordered a sandwich, and the bottom bread has been soggy, like it's been sitting and waiting for a while. I usually order my lunch about 60-90 mins before pick up, so I'm assuming my sandwiches were made too early and left to sit out for too long. The food was okay, other than that. I probably won't order online for work day lunch again, but I may come in for lunch on the weekend if the mood struck me. read more
