Great parking. They do get busy, but if you go during an off time, plenty of space to sit and chat with a friend over a yummy meal. My favorite bagel here is the cinnamon crunch one. I have tried others but this is my go to. I will mention I feel service is a bit slow. I like Panera for the most part, but it's not my favorite. We decided to stop in this one in Manhattan on our way out of town. It was pretty apparent when you walked in that the condition of this restaurant was not up to par. That's unfortunate because it was actually in very nice condition just a couple of years ago. There was food on the floor in several areas, sticky stuff on the walls in the first booth we sat in, and uncleaned tables. It wasn't that busy - they just hadn't cleaned up after others had left. The worst part was that the wood rail (after you order food all the way down to where the soda fountains are) was completely scraped up. Part of the sheetrock was coming off on the column just above it. It truly looks like management/ownership just doesn't care about this location. The manager was nice and offered to make me a heated sandwich. I appreciated that. But they burned the first one and the second one was sort of cold. And the bathrooms looked like truck stop bathrooms! Get it together, guys. I like Panera. Make it look like the rest. read more

How long can it possibly take to make some soup? I'm not exaggerating when I say this is the slowest restaurant I've ever been to, let alone for fast food! They 'make' soup, salads, and sandwiches. And when I say 'make' I mean assemble. They're just throwing stuff together and you'll be stuck waiting for 30+ mins! And talk about over priced!!! Good place for quick sandwiches and soup. Kitchen quick and food are prepared up to quality. Much better coffee and selections comparing to the Radina Coffee House if you are picky about the quality of the coffee. On the other hand, bread is really not up to the quality they used to be in Panera. I would go the Radina Baker house for the real bread and pastry. I used to buy bread here twice a week, but after a few times, the bread is not even fully baked, I stay away from their bread. Still love their lunch boxes, especially the giant cookies and selections of sandwiches. Still a decent neighborhood coffee and quick sandwich place for fair price tags. But comparing to other Panera stores at other cities, this one is about or below average. read more

Story Time: The reason I will NEVER eat at Panera Bread located by the Target in Manhattan KS. One early morning I had a friend in town visiting who decided they wanted Panera Bread I decided to go through the drive through and ordered hot tea and a bagel. He ordered a bit more. The attendant was a bit short as she spoke with me through the window but since I'm a morning person, I brushed it off. I got my food thanked her and drove off. By the time I got home I realized my cut and toasted bagel was not in the bag. I called and I was told I can come back through the drive through. By the time my friend ate and we had a chance to get back, I mentioned my call at the drive through and missing bagel. On my receipt it said if they got my order wrong they would fix it and give a treat. My friend asked for a scone. I only wanted my bagel...still hungry for not getting it in the first place. The same attendant at the window was there with the curt attitude...although I tried to remain pleasant. When he got the scone and looked at it, it looked as if she ran her hands through her blond hair, scraped the scone off the floor and placed it into a container. There was hair lodged on the SCONE!!! I was beyond disgusted. I drove around the corner and realized it was not worth the effort or energy to deal with nasty mean spirited individuals who feel they are too privileged to be kind to others. ...and that's why I will NEVER go to that Panera Bread and I will tell my entire organization to by pass it as well. read more

This is actually my favorite place to come study/read in town. I can't do the Starbucks on the east side of town...too close to Aggieville with all the undergrads. The same is true of all the Radina's locations. Panera is usually filled with families or older couples out for lunch. So it's a different kind of crowd, which I prefer. As for the coffee...my fave is half hazelnut coffee and half dark roast, add a splash of half and half and an equal packet and that's my drink. Free refills are a big plus. Baked goods - my fave is the bearclaw, but you can pretty much order anything and it will taste great. Sandwiches and soups are consistently good. Service is usually fast and mostly friendly. Free wifi except during peak hours 11:30-2pm is limited to 30 mins. read more

This location is definitely not the best one I've been to. The staff is fast and friendly but the food isn't the same as other stores. I've found that the portions at this store are much smaller. I paid $7 something for an asiago bacon, egg, and cheese and a soda only to receive a giant bagel with minimal fillings. The egg certainly doesn't cover the bagel as you can see. I like Panera but they have gone downhill. I've been getting cinnamon crunch bagels there for over a decade, and I ALWAYS get them bread sliced. I've never had a problem with this before, whenever I ask for bread sliced bagels they are evenly sliced into thin pieces so I can share. I recently went and asked for two bread sliced bagels again. Instead of thinly sliced like always, the bagels were cut only two times so there were three big slices. No big deal, I just thought I'd specify next time. So the last time I went, I asked (in the drive through) if they could put the bagels in the bread slicing machine so there are more pieces. Then I was informed that they don't have a bread slicing machine and have to hand-slice everything. I know they had one before, so I'm really confused why on earth a bread place wouldn't have a bread slicing machine or get rid of it. It makes absolutely no sense to me. read more

There are very few places to study in Manhattan and Panera Bread is one of my favorites. Since it's a bit further from KSU, not a lot of people bother driving to the far side of town. Everyone at Panera Bread is so nice, smiley and patient. My food arrives quite quickly as well. The place is clean with lots of sunlight. There's also a small area that is sectioned off for a more private dining/studying experience. The only drawback about Panera is that the internet is EXTREMELY slow at times - to the point where I want to smash my laptop. The internet login also warns that there is an internet time limit during busy hours (I think it's 11am -1pm and 4pm - 7pm, but that's an estimate). It also gets quite loud during the busy hours, since most people are there to eat and socialize, not study. I like to come here when I feel like I need to get away from all the familiar faces. read more

What can I say about Panera...I am definately a fan. I eat there (mostly get take-out) at least once a week. It is consistently great. The people who work there are very friendly, the food is tasty and fresh, the store is clean and the atmosphere is very relaxing. It can get VERY busy though, especially at lunch. Another chain restaurant. I've been there a couple of times and there's nothing different about this chain. I went to get breakfast one time and was so excited to see that they serve soufle. I bought a couple and when I got home, I noticed that the dough was not cooked/ baked through. That was disappointing. However, that place 'saved' my life during the ice storm in 2008 when the power went out. It's AWESOME that they provide free wireless Internet. While surfing the net on the laptop, I was also able to charge my phone, Zune, etc. If only they had a shower to at that time. I haven't gone back in a while, but I have been there a couple of times. Stopped her for lunch today and I'm so happy I did. I went with the "pick 2" lunch meal and got the creamy tomato and a chicken panini. I also added a delicious dessert for 99 cents. WOW! It's a crazy hot day in MHK! The kind where you just can't go on another minute without an iced tea! (It's not 5pm yet!). I pull up the Panera drive thru, order my seasonal hibiscus iced tea, drive to the next window, wait about 35 seconds for the car in front of me, the girl opens the window, hands me my tea & proceeds to share, 'It's gonna be on us today'! Something has really changed here. The last three times I have stopped in at around 9am the bagel bins are 3/4 empty and so is the bakery section. Today there were only half a dozen loaves of bread available (if that), just a few plates sitting in bakery section with almost nothing on the plates to choose from. Coffee has been cold lately as well as if it's sitting awhile. I feel they are preparing fewer bakery items and some of my past favorites not at all. This place is called Panera "Bread", it should have plenty of bagels and baked goods. Today they were scraping unattractive small cinnamon rolls out of a metal pan behind the cash register. My daughter and I love to go to Panera. Every one that I go to is consistent, no matter what town I am in. My husband and son don't like it (too fru-fru) so we always try to go when it is just the two of us. This Panera is the same as all others. It was really crowded on a Saturday afternoon and we had to park at the other side of the parking lot, but the line was not very long when we got inside. Panera Bread... For a chain restaurant, they are definitely a bit pricier than most bakeries I've experience abroad and at home. As for their specialty and cafe menus. I enjoy using my loyalty card so that I can either earn something free or at least $2 off their 2 item special (soup, salad, and/or sandwich). For breakfast I normally get a bear claw and a iced chai tea latte. As for lunch/ dinner, I tend on ordering their thai or apple chicken salad and chicken noodle soup. It's never really crowded when I go, but at lunch time 11am or so is when people start forming a line. The service is pretty fast and still maintain a kind demeanor. Usually clean tables or in some cases if you don't mind wiping off crumbs. I enjoy taking my time and eating here while browsing the web (thank you free wifi).
