Our meal here was FANTASTIC. We stopped here at the end of a very long storm chase and were served our food just as the power went out. So we leisurely ate our pad Thai, tom yum, and potstickers in the dark while watching the storm. It was delightful. The staff were so sweet and accommodating. (And the towel dispenser in the bathroom worked on battery power! Score!) The atmosphere inside the restaurant stayed calm and cozy. The food was fresh and delicious. The spicy+ was HOT (read: almost beyond the border of what I can stand, and I regularly eat Thai hot). The tom yum was magnificent. Very fast service and beautiful interior with a nice atmosphere. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. I got the pad Thai with beef, and the meat was flavorful but thin and on the chewy/tougher side. The noodles were slightly overcooked and a bit too salty. Literally the best Thai food I've had in a long time! Completely calm and wonderful dining area and the staff is on point. I will be taking everyone that comes to visit to this restaurant. March 6th 2024 Food is delicious, came here two weeks ago and it was delicious then. The main issue is with the service, they'll seat you and come back in about 2 minutes to ask if you're ready to order, the first time we made the mistake of saying we needed more time, and we surely got more time, they waitress came back about 15 minutes later and asked us if we were ready, so we ordered and the food was great as stated before but the waitresses never came back to ask how anything was, or if we needed a refill on drinks, or if we needed anything at all. She came back and gave us the check and we paid. I'm here in the restaurant writing this right now just finished the roasted duck curry and it was great, the food is no issue whatsoever. But once again the staff would walk by the table and I'd observe them look down at the empty cup on the side of the table and they'd keep walking by and seem to ignore it, never offering a refill. They never came back to ask how things tasted or check in with us until the check was dished out, I put my card in the book and waited about 8 minutes or so for them to come and pick up the book and they didn't bring the book back for about another 8 minutes. Visiting long term friends here, we spent the five minutes necessary to see downtown Manhattan (again) and agree the Little Apple was still there. We had pad thai (have to try that the first time of course), a spicy beef salad, and our friends had spicy basil beef. We asked for our spiciness to be 5+, while they ordered 2. We were pleased to see ours was actually nicely spiced (we'd call it a 4, but delicious), while our friends was toned down to something they liked. Too often, we find that meals asked for with different spice levels don't end up very different. Good job! Haven't been back here since last year. We went around 2pm on a Sunday. It wasn't busy and we were greeted by this kind lady. She was a family member of the owners of the restaurants. I've eaten at Baan Thai several times with friends and family. Every time, the food has been tasty, hot, and fresh. The crazy noodle (usually on the specials board) is a really delicious spicy noodle dish. Eric R. is very happy with the beef penang that he loves so dearly. I have gotten a beef salad with a side of rice a few times which has been very delicious. The salad is even spicy! My friend Hannah J. asked the Thai server for a spice level "like she likes her men - HOT!" and her fried rice was too spicy for her - she could not even eat her words! this will be my second time coming to this restauran. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt the first go round because I did come late that evening and seen them preparing to close so I knew the service wouldn't be top tier. Being a former food service worker I'm aware of restaurant etiquette. This second go round I came around lunch, ordered my drink and my food and it came out in a timely manner. This is where things go south, my boyfriend ran out of his beverage and was never asked if he wanted a refill, and on top of that our server never came back to check on us to see if we needed anything else or if our food was too our liking. During our experience we heard our server asking other tables if they need anything else, asking her tables how their food is but never passed the sentiments to us. we finally finished our meal stacked our dishes and set them to the side of the table and she comes quickly with the check to the table before clearing the dishes. She still didn't ask us how anything was, if we needed anything else nothing. I won't be coming back to this restaurant to experience bad service. The food is great but the service and experience does not equate to the terrible experience that I've gotten each time I've come. read more
