I hardly ever give one's, however I just had the worst cooked meal ever at any HuHot! The food was fresh and looked great filling my bowl but the guys operating the grill ruined it. My rice noodles were so over cooked I could not even bit thru most of them! The beef and chicken was on the verge of leather to chew. The only protein to survive was the fake crab! The veggies had at least 6 ladles of sauce and yet one guy felt the need to water it down with a hearty squirt! So my veggies ended up steamed instead of grilled! Then while mine was left unattended on one side, on the opposite side another fella was cleaning off the food residue and scraped with such vigor a big splat landed on my veggies!!! I gagged! But in the interest of not wasting food I went ahead and let him plate it all up! What an awful meal! The only reason I gave a 1 was for the pleasant waiter I had who patiently listened to my complaints and offered me a second chance for a fresh plate! Without being able to control the grill guys, I figured a second plate would not be any better. I came here not long after HuHot opened here and it was one of my favorite eateries in Manhattan but about 2 years ago, I had this same kind of experience! Today, I gave them a second chance! As far as Mongolian grills go, I was pretty happy with this one! We went in with a party of eight, and were sat right away. The selection of meats, vegetables, toppings were very good, and they had tons of sauces and oils to choose from. I really enjoyed the fact that I could go back and try whatever I wanted with as many trips to the grill as I needed. My kids thought it was really cool, and I like the fact that they got their meal for less than the adult price. If Mongolian is your style, I highly recommend checking them out! read more

Was in the mall and decided to give them a try. I've been to Mongolian grills before and this was the worst experience. Here, they give you one large bowl to cram every thing, including the sauce. Because you have to put everything in me bowl, the sauce is literally only on top of the food. The meats were frozen, and when my food was finished, the chicken looked and tasted uncooked. Went here once before about a year before this post and the food was not too great, the noodles are undercooked and chewy, this time the noodles are still spongy and chewy, the egg rolls are terrible, worse than gas station egg rolls. On top of that my Wife got a pineapple slice in her plate that she didn't put in the bowls when giving it to the chefs and she's slightly allergic to pineapples, luckily she didn't break out in hives, and I got a piece of zucchini in my meal which I didn't put in the bowls that we're given to the chefs, and this happens because on the opposite side of the circular grill whatever food and sauces are stuck to the grill they scrape it and push it into a hole in the center and sometimes they push too hard and it misses the hole and gets pushed straight into your food so you are getting bits of other peoples food mixed into yours. When the chefs got my food, noodles, and sauces, they put the sauces first then the food and let them sit there cooking; sauces drying up and burning on the circular grill, still not mixed it around to flavor the noodle and proteins. I went back and grabbed another bowl and filled it with sauces again and asked them to add more and mix it around and they did after about 20 seconds of pouring it on the grill and letting it sit there, my wife did we the same thing because they weren't mixing it quick enough. The waiter Sandra was very professional and a great at her job, periodically checking in on us and asking if refills were needed when the cups were nearly empty and just overall great. But because of the food I'm not sure I'll come back again. read more

For one thing, their selection has a great variety of meats (beef, pork, shrimp, sausage, etc.) and vegetables. Sauces were delicious! In particular I liked the yellow curry and the Asian coconut. Definitely fun to mix sauces and flavors. Make sure to add enough sauce! There are signs saying "Add at least 5-6 scoops" around and if you don't, your food won't have enough sizzling taste. All you can eat dinner (comes with salad or soup) for only $13.99! Salad was a full plate and included Mandarin oranges, wonton bits, and a tasty dressing. Definitely going back sometime! read more

As far as the ingredients, you're free to experiment. I love piling up the cabbage and all the flavored oil, but I'd stick to the ones with ginger and garlic. The first few times I went there, the cooks were very attentive and efficient. Then one time I went there (and the place wasn't at all busy), I cringed a bit as I stood waiting for my food to be cooked. The cook was sloppy. He didn't really pay much attention to the food, so the flavors didn't get stirred in thoroughly. Also, now that I think of it, I think that although they do a rotation system and they 'rinse' the top every time they put a new pile to cook, they really should have a separate space for ingredients with shrimp, etc. I've ordered the appetizer, but it is too expensive compared to other places. When I first went there with my boyfriend, I was skeptical about the place. I heard from my brother that it was very pricey and on top of that, the food gave him an upset stomach. I gave it a try, and I was disappointed. I only ate half a plate, but it was my first time there. I did not know what to do, and I did not know what ingredients where good. The next couple times I went, it got better. I finally figured out what made my taste buds party! I usually get beef, calamari, and fish. Then I like the pad thai noodles because it doesn't soak in all the sauces. Instead, the sauces are more on the surface. As for vegetables, I use onions, spinach, cilantro (I think), and tomatoes. Then here comes the awesome part! SAUCES... Well, I can tell you right now don't get the asian coconut (or something like that) sauce. It'll leave you with a bad taste in your mouth and bad breath. Anyway, I like to put a ladle of Khan's favorite, a half ladle of sesame oil, and a ladle of chili garlic sauce. The amount I put in varies, but that is usually the amount I put in. So, as for the food, it's okay, but there were a couple chefs that had an attitude. One actually told me and my boyfriend how to put the tongs in the tray after we take what we want. He said that he wants the customers to learn how to be "sophisticated." I never saw him again after that. Then there was another chef. He looked like he was in high school or a college freshman. He can't cook. He burns the food, and on top of that, he likes to flip each individual piece of meat I had. I don't know if that is really how you cook since I am not an expert chef, but I know that while he is doing that, the rest of my food is burning. However, not all the chefs are like that, and I realize that they have different schedules. As for the waitstaff, it is horrible. I usually go on Tuesdays, and I never get greeted with a smile. The waiter rolls his eyes and slowly takes us to the table. He doesn't even ask anything. He just gives us a seat and leaves. I don't know what his problem is, but my problem is that that isn't how you treat customers. The manager there is nice though. She likes to chat, and so do I so we're good. We had an experience where our food was not fully cooked. I let my waitress know and she followed up on it. A little while later the manager lady came over and asked us if our second plate was cooked better. The food itself was good, not great, but good. If I had to rate the food I would give it a 3 star review but after getting real service and having the company trying to correct a problem....I will bump it up to 4 stars.
