I've had the best time here. Yesterday was Karaoke, and I took a risk singing a song that was challenging and received a great round of applause. Today I came to chill and eat. Play some arcades. Super sweet bartender named Jamie. Very attentive. Very professional. We laughed about how I lost my ass to a kid here on the motorcycle game. The only plus was that the kids mom complemented my VERY EXPENSIVE outfit. Haha I wanted bartender Jamie shake the hands of everyone she was waiting on. Very cool. 1-Star Review: Disappointed and Confused by the Treatment I visited RADS Retrocade on 11/14 with my cousin while I was in town from out of state. When we first arrived, everything seemed great our bartender was friendly, the small bites were good, and we were genuinely having a good time. We were chatting with people around us, ordering drinks, and even had a couple of drinks sent over to us. It felt like the perfect night out. After spending some time on the patio, we came back inside to continue enjoying the evening. That's when the vibe completely shifted. Suddenly, every bartender behind the bar was ignoring us to the point where the people around us started asking what was going on because they noticed it too. Eventually, the bartender who originally served us came over. When I tried ordering shots, she told us that management had instructed her to "slow us down." At that point we had already been there for over two hours and were nowhere near causing any kind of disturbance. It was confusing, embarrassing, and honestly upsetting to be singled out like that without reason. They even allowed me to order shots for someone else just not for us. I am not an angry or confrontational person, and nothing about our behavior warranted this kind of treatment. Unfortunately, this experience completely ruined what had been a fun night. I won't be returning, and I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone who wants to relax, enjoy drinks, and spend their money without feeling ostracized for no apparent reason. read more

I finally got over to Rad Retrocade to check it out. It is what you might expect: a loud place with minimum comfort, graphic art and design on the walls, a nice little bar area, numerous tables and booths, flashing lights, and a lot of young adults having fun playing games. I entered and sat myself in a booth. The facility appeared to be clean but my salt shaker was kind of grimy. A waitress quickly arrived and took my order. She was very pleasant and helpful. The young woman was working the floor and the bar all by herself. That seems to be common these days. There was just one guy back in the kitchen doing the cooking and it took awhile for my food to arrive...and they were not busy. Probably about eighteen minutes order to table. I ordered their Philly Cheese Steak with fries as I am always on the lookout for a good Philly. The fries were just sort of your average fries, not bad but nothing special. I'd rate them about a "B-." The Philly roll had a nice texture and flavor but it was left on the grill a bit too long. After awhile it became quite dry. The sandwich as a whole was pretty dry. The meat was dry and not juicy. Also, I might add, I came across a bit of chopped up bone in the sandwich as I consumed it! Not good. The meat had little flavor and not much seasoning. The sandwich also contained a few slivers of green bell pepper and onions. I had asked for cheese wiz (one of the options) like they put on their Phillies in Philadelphia, but they came back and said they were out of it. Provolone cheese was the other option but it proved to be a marginal amount. All in all, this Philly Cheese Steak was what you might expect in an entertainment venue like Rad...not bad but certainly not really good. Rate it a "B-." Not the stuff of legend. The one waitress never came by after I finished my meal and I was never told whether I should pay her or pay at the bar. I finally had to get up and walk over to the bar to cash out. Rate today's dining experience around Three and a Half Stars...meaning sort of just above run of the mill. This would not be my first choice for dining downtown...that's for certain. I felt like I fell into a time warp.. the old arcade games I played as a kid were great. The old, cassette tapes, the music and music videos took me back to the 80's and 90's.. great atmosphere. The server, Azuree, was very courteous and friendly. Kudos to her and all her hard work. From the quesadillas to the cheeseburgers, it was all great. Food was made fresh and fast. The milkshake was absolutely delicious. If you're looking for a fun family atmosphere, this is the place. If adults are looking to have fun, this is also the place. I got into town a little late. Saw this place, and their website said the kitchen closed at midnight, I gave them a call juat to verify, but they did not answer their phone after several attempts. I figured I would try them since their own website says the kitchen is open until midnight. Well, when I got there at 11:10 and they told me they closed the kitchen already. when I mentioned the website, the guy said "well it was slow, so we closed the kitchen." DON'T PUT SOMETHING ON YOUR WEBSITE IF YOU ARE NOT GOING TO STICK TO IT! OR ANSWER YOUR PHONE! I will not bother to try this place again. So far I've been twice during their first week. Once at night, once during the day. From opening time to 7pm, it's all ages. From 7pm to close, it's 21+. It's a completely different atmosphere between the two. During the day it's more family friendly and feels like an arcade. There isn't as many people so it's less noisy and there's less of a wait (if any) to play the games. At night they have a DJ (at least on a weekend they did) so at night it becomes more of a bar/club type atmosphere. Neither bad, just depends on your preference! The food is really good. Their Hot Cheeto burger was delicious! Drinks are good too! $6 for their cocktails. $8 for their frozen drinks. I'll be coming back to try more of both! Staff is so friendly. The ladies working the bar are awesome, and the kitchen manager is cool! They have a variety of different old school arcade games. Mario Kart, Super Mario Bros., Frogger, Pac-man, Mortal Kombat, Defender, Tron, etc. An entire wall of pinball machines. Most games are 1-2 quarters for one player. I'm hoping they'll be able to keep up with appearances and game upkeep the longer they're open. I'd suggest taking cash with you for the games. They have an ATM machine at the entrance but it does charge $3.50 to withdrawal. Rad has change dispensers to get tokens to be used in the games too! I don't know about the East location, but this one was awesome! Great staff, mature cool atmosphere, no BS, no issues, drinks were good...except a red one with poprocks....toooooo sweet. The only improvement I'd suggest is making sure games are working, and maybe move to a game card system. read more

sadly, i used to be a customer there, but because i did the unthinkable, i asked the cook to make some fries for me, which he did, no problem. naughty me, nothing against anyone working there, everyone busts ass. certain employees though shouldn't be there, recently an alternation between shani and myself over french fries, i had to go through her. cuss words were used on both sides, jot against each other but in general. mr. scott was there. he heard it. his words were, this is a business. je told me to leave and don't come back. all of you people that work there should be paid minimum wage, so you don't have to kiss the customer's ass for tips. wonder why that is?? down the block at grounded cafe, beer, pizza,sandwiches and wine, these folks make minimum wage, 13 an hour. then you have the little click formed between customer and bartender. if you tip, you get better service. i had a lot of respect for mr. scott, i don't now. i was a customer who came in every day, got to know a lot of people. not anymore because of scott's immediate decision to tell me to leave and don't come back. thank you mr. scott read more

Cool little spot to hangout at. They have a very unique place with lots of retro games and your classic old school favorites like Galaga and centipede. I went to Rad a couple weeks ago and I got the garbage pail nachos. I let the server know that the guacamole was brown and he told me that because its called the garbage pail nachos they wait two days before they serve it, then he scraped off some of it and gave it back. Then the waitress lost my card and denied losing my card and walked away until I talked to the manager and he found my card and apologized on their behalf which was nice but still stressful. I'm a Gen-Xer and while you don't have to be old like me to enjoy a place like this it certainly doesn't hurt :-) Rad Retrocade caters to two different demographics. During the day it's family friendly venue which is filled with video games (old and new), pinball machines, skee-ball and more which guarantees lots of fun for the kids. I took my nephews and they loved it. And in the evening RR joins Main Street's growing nightlife scene and it's for over 21 only. There is a full kitchen and bar and if you are into the 80s and 90s you will dig the retro decor and the music will have you singing along in no time. While this isn't the sprawling size of Dave & Busters it is still is big enough to keep the kids entertained and still be able to keep an eye on them. When you need to take a break from the games there are seating areas both on the side and upstairs with a balcony looking over the room. There aren't a whole lot of venues like this in Las Cruces so this is a welcome addition. read more

So I'm comparing Rad to Rubiks and I absolutely love Rubiks. I like the layout better at Rubiks as well as the gaming options. I also like that Rubiks requires quarters rather than golden coins like at Rad. Rad is definitely fine (3 stars = A-OK). I just prefer Rubiks. But, if you're not willing to make the drive to El Paso and you're in Las Cruces - I guess this would be the place to go. Ugh where to begin? This place is just... it's terrible. Imperfect? Nah. Start to finish.... Bouncers... act professionally and are no more arrogant than you. Simple truth... behave and they will too. Bartenders... prepare to be ignored by most (but not all)... a couple of the bartenders were great over the three nights I went in. The rest of them were worthless and hung around their buddies and ignored a group of 6 that had planned on not being rude or buying rail? The place... lots of games, most of patrons were friendly. Security was on point and not malicious and the visitors were nice as well. Obviously good. I really wanted to rate higher but was sort of amazed by the lack of attention by the bartenders. Travelled all over the world and this hits as one of those place like "i just don't care if you're not a young regular"... shame though because we spent money elsewhere because we felt just as indifferent. read more

This place is really awesome for Las Cruces. While the town lacks in most of everything real cities have, this place is really RAD! Lots of old school games to play, beer is good.
