We walked in to play some air hockey, since we think it's fun and we get to laugh a lot. After walking around trying to find the "card" machine, we headed to one of the 3 tables. One was out of order, so we picked another. We swiped the card, and the screen said to "press start button". Uh, there was no start button on the machine. We walked around it twice, trying anything that looked like a button, and nothing. We felt we were scammed by the place and the machine, since there is no way to play. Not a single person available to talk to, by the way, so we can maybe have someone show us this invisible "start" button. Definitely not going back, since, you know, they stole our money. read more

Not really was what expecting. Was overpriced just to use what the place has to offer and we had to pay a person each for the play cards to use the arcades and stuff. Doesn't have much to offer either way. And when we were ready to get our prizes, we had no points to use. The food was also not really good also. There are some activities to do like mini golf, pool, bowling, rock climbing, and a play area which we had fun in than the arcades. I would recommend this place for like a small family instead of a party. And to fine a good size table, you have to get a reservation which we didn't know about so we had to get a small table near the bowling area. read more

Let's talk about the food at Monkey Rock. We got a sampling of the best items and my personal favorites were the hot and spicy wings and I COULDN'T STOP EATING THE PIZZA WITH THE HOT HONEY SAUCE. Yes I am loudly saying that it was funky and fabulous. The other stand outs were the mozzarella sticks (my boy ate like 8 of them), the taco pizza reminded me of a Taco Bell Chalupa, the chicken sandwich/club was really delicious with fresh toppings, the burger was ok, the buns were still the soft kind that fell apart within seconds, the raspberry donut cheesecake was rich and dense. I think you'll get your money's worth with the food here. They have all types of beer on tap and a full bar, with Pepsi products (I'm a Coca Cola) and will have specialty drinks coming soon. My family and I were excited for this place to open. Our first few visits were great. They had opening kinks to work out initially but you could tell managers were on top of it and really doing their best to train and hold employees to a high standard. The past two times we have been there with friends and there have been weird instances that make us question going back. 2. Yesterday we went in with our daughters. My husband met us after work and we were hoping to have a few adult beverages and let our girls run around and play before we grabbed dinner. Our girls were playing in their jungle gym area and my husband went up to order a beer for himself and a vodka drink for myself. Our server informed us that they couldn't serve liquor, just beer or seltzers in their coolers. I asked why because I was genuinely curious and she said the bar was closed. This struck me as odd that they would be paying for a liquor license and had servers that I would assume have their TABC license but not have one capable person of pouring liquor. All this aside I knew our server was just relaying what she was told, no fault of her own. I ordered a bottled beer and asked for a cold glass. She kind of paused and acted surprised and said they didn't have any cold glasses and if I'd still just like a glass that wasn't cold. I said that was fine. She proceeded to bring me out a large plastic Coca Cola cup. Again, this to me is just bad management and no fault of her own, probably poor training. My husband kind of laughed at this but I would assume this isn't a great practice (especially for their TABC) license to hand me a Coca Cola plastic glass to put an alcoholic drink in. While I could clearly see cold pint glasses in their cooler. As we closed our tan to leave their is an employee in a monkey rock short playing their soccer simulator. 2. A few months before this I met my husband and a few of our friends up there to try out their golf simulator. Our friends were golfing and the weather turned out bad so they decided to go up to Monkey Rock instead. Our waitress was unaware of what beer she had on drafts as well as what liquors they had. She kept having to go back to the bar and ask if they had particular whiskeys. Even with this everyone at our table (who has worked in the industry) brushed it off as inexperienced. As the guys started playing with the golf simulator they came up with a game. The loser of each simulator round had to buy the rest of their friends a round of drinks. The very first round the guys ordered shots (mind you they only had a beer at that point and the shots they just ordered).The waitress who was young kept coming back and asking if anyone needed more food or water, when the guys would ask if the shots were coming out soon (after a 20 minute wait) the waitress kept saying they'd be out soon. The third time she was asked about the shots she said she didn't feel comfortable having them take shots because her dad was an alcoholic and she sees some of those characteristics in some of the men we were with. My jaw hit the floor. I could tell she truly had some emotional response to our friends, which to each their own, but to work in an industry where you are around alcohol and going to be serving people drinks is probably not your best choice if it's a trigger. A friend of ours did speak to the manger about it and even graciously said if he was going to be cut off that was fine but to compare any patrons to your alcoholic father is a far stretch. The manager sent our group a round of drinks on her but everyone felt insanely uncomfortable and we left (still tipping our waitress 20%). Overall, I love their concept but there is a huge lack of management there. A few months in to opening I would expect some of these hiccups but they have been open long enough to have trained staff. Unfortunately this is why a lot of places in El Paso do not last. read more

Well. I was holding my review until I could ask my 15 and 21 year old grandkids how they felt about it. We went on Monday night after new years day. There was no school that day so it was pretty busy. Walking in, from the outside was impressive. It's big and very bright and attractive inside. There's a small bowling alley, an eating area, a bar, and a desk to pay for attractions. Beyond that are the games and rock climbing and at the very very back is a little glow in the dark putt putt. Overall, 3 stars for the ambiance. A fun date night for teens or younger adults maybe. The pizza was pretty good. The margarita was very watery but the beer was ok. We saw the owners running (literally) back and forth, keeping things moving but truthfully they were super short staffed. I would recommend taking the prize section out. I watched a very distressed mama who's 3 year old couldn't get a prize because everything cost lots of tickets. I guess he could have gotten the cheap tootsie roll for 30 tickets. My 5 year old was very sad to find out that her 300 tickets weren't enough. We left feeling blah and disappointed. Great concept. I hope they will be successful. read more

Dude Roger was the man of the day!!! They had no bartender for the start of the shift but he was on the go bouncing around accommodating all the guest by bartending and working the cash register. That's the definition of multitasking. Keep up the hard work my dude!!!! He also came to the rescue with ice when I got my fingers smashed between two bowling balls. He is a hardworking and is always there for any customer in need. DO NOT LOSE THIS GUY! I have never met a more aware and amazing employee! read more

We came excited to try this new venue on the west side. To our disappointment, the majority of the games were unplayable. They had one of two errors, network connection error, or restarting. Either way we could not play. When we informed the manager, she said "to be honest it's my first week and I have no idea how to restart them." We decided it would be fun to at least try the VR simulator there. So we stood in line for nearly an hour. At many points they would setup the simulator for a single person, which while inefficient we understood might be more enjoyable. When it was finally our turn, we understood that the setup was such that you can communicate via voice and they were not equipped to run multiple gaming environments at once. We were happy to not have to share the experience with another group.. or so we thought. Even though every group prior to us, be it 3 people or singles were able to play with only the members of their party. When it was our turn they started the game with the two of us. And then a minute later the game turned off. When I removed my headset the employee apologized and said "sorry I didn't realize we were adding two people from another party." I objected explaining that everyone else had a different experience. He just said "sorry, not sure why we are doing this now." And we were given no other choice. To be frank, it just felt like a watered down dave and busters, a very poorly laid out VR experience, and a bowling alley. I'm happy to see new options pop up on the west side. Experience Monkey Rock with my family and was not at all please with the service. Pizza was okay and wings came out uncooked. I express the issue to the manager about the matter and she said there was no issue so we didn't eat at all. Game section looked really cool until we couldn't play any due to errors and system issues, again expressed our concerns and the manager just struggled and said unfortunately it happens and walked off. Was Very disappointed with the service and attitude towards us. VR experience was horrible, when we started it was great but started to lag and was kicked off after waiting a hr and they told us we would need to wait again. Mini golf and bowling are just way too small and over price. Wish it could've been a better experience but was a let down. Probably won't come again due to issues. read more

Soft drinks were charged like $4, pizzas were starting at $12. Pizzas came out relatively quick but slightly undercooked. I would order again cuz maybe it was the rush. Menu was limited at the moment as well so no fries or burgers. The place was amazingly clean. Shoes were new, interactive display was great for the kids to set up bumpers. The arcade/rock climbing fenced area was small but very new. They had smaller cabana type private areas with equipment like golf driving simulators and various kicking-sports games. We came here the first weekend it was open and I liked that they were able to accommodate a big party (I think it was 16people). I liked the environment, the theme was definitely something different and cool for El Paso. My kids loved it, I liked that the adults could bowl while the kids ran around and played. There was a lot of options and things to do. The food was good for the type of place it is. The only thing I found weird was that you had to pay or purchase something additional just to be able to enter the little playground things like the ones they have at McDonalds... otherwise it was pretty cool. My family and I had a lot of fun here. We went to play putt putt. My son and his Tio did the rock climbing and that was fun for them and fun for us to watch as well. The only downside is we wanted to go bowling, but there are only but a few lanes there. You have to make a reservation if you want to ensure you get to bowl. Otherwise you might end up waiting a long time for a family to finish bowling. I guess you could do other activities while you wait. We didn't try the food or drinks, but the environment/ambiance there is pretty cool and it's very clean. It's a fun place for sure, and I would recommend it. read more

Service staff lacks tact, training and commitment. Their "supervisor" or manager or Karen had the need to tell us to separate our dinner table because it's against fire regulations. . Can't say enough good things about Monkey Rock. My 5 year old and 2 year old love spending hours here, including myself and my husband. There's so much to do and the food is so yummy. Decided to come here for a birthday on a Saturday, it's completely run by kids, no organization whatsoever, the arcade selection was mediocre, you get more bang for your buck at Dave and busters. The bowling was a small section, If your going strictly to bowl go to a actual bowling alley. We had issues at the lanes like other reviewers and it took forever for anyone to come out and fix. Pins are on strings vs loose like in a real alley. There is very limited seating, the bar was a joke, one bartender had us waiting 20+ min in a line for drinks. The food was average nothing special. Most of my party agreed they would probably never come back. Everything cost extra to do unless you pay $40 for a package deal. Small rock wall, small miniature golfing, short virtual reality game. The best way to describe this place is like a bunch of mini versions of the real things all in one. Kids were fairly satisfied, adults were over it especially with the bar situation. It had us asking "where are the damn adults running this place?!" The service was extremely poor, and it's not entirely the employees fault my guess is poor management. We did feel for the bartender being alone, but sadly it did effect our overall judgment. read more

Do not go here. Service is horrible. The bowling lanes do not work, and if you bring a concern up to employees or even managers you're told i don't know it's just company policy. We were in the middle of a game of bowling. The location rented the lane to another family while we were still playing. When we spoke to an employee the didn't understand how the computer let it rent it out again. They told us we could move to another lane. We tried to avoid a scene or conflict stated that's fine just tell us what lane we need to move to. They gave us a lane and it does not register the proper pin counts. Counting gutters when ball hasn't even been thrown. After 4 people trying to bowl 1 frame it messed up on 5 throws. We asked to speak to the manager as all lanes were full. When she came to us we let her know what was going on, and asked for a refund on the bowling. She asked for the same card we paid with. We provided the card, and she was incapable of figuring out how to process a refund. I asked her to simply give us the money back in cash if she is not capable to refund to the card. She said she is not authorized to do that and asked for our information so she could try to process the credit later. What kind of operation thinks it's acceptable to ask for our information to provide a "credit" on our card after we leave. I informed her that I will not provide her my information to process a transaction against my card after I leave. We asked for the General Manager or owners number. She stated that she can not give that information out, and I that they are not available to help her. She tried to process the refund to our card a few more times and we asked can she contact the general manager or owner then? She said she would try and went to the back. She then came back over 30 minutes later to tell us we can have a voucher for an hour of bowling to come back. This place is horrible, and I will never come back, and for sure will make sure that everyone I know is aware of the poor service, poor experience, and theft of this location. read more
