We bought a new car last week and we needed a roof rack. I knew what I wanted and called in to see if everything was in stock. I came in the same afternoon and received help right when I walked in the store. The guy's name was Francis. He was super friendly and knowledgeable. He installed the roof rack on my car in 15 minutes. He knows his stuff. I will definitely be back for other products at this place. I would highly recommend going here for anything you need. read more

It's been a while since my last review, but I had to give it to these guys. My first purchase from them: I first purchased from them in late 2015 and actually did a lot of research at the time before making the trip over to North Vancouver. Back then I wanted a Thule backpack and case for my macbook. Although Thule is a kind of niche brand at times, their product lineup is actually pretty big. With tens of bags to choose from, it's pretty hard for a retailer to stock all of them. Let alone the other products they carry, such as car racks and outdoor sport equipment. Important Note: I was sold when I heard about how great Thule's warranty was. Things to consider: I live in downtown and there is a place near main street that I also considered, along with lordco who were the main resellers in the area for Thule products. The thing was.. these places do not carry enough selection. I can't see what I'm ordering, and I literally have to order it through them and wait a couple days before even knowing if I want it. The social pressures of purchasing at that point are way too high for the average consumer. Friendly Staff and Expert Advice: Luckily..I found Rack Stop @ Esplanade Ave. The guys there knew their stuff and helped me every step of the way. I swear if this isn't a family business, the people sure act like one. Very friendly and helpful atmosphere that has me here today writing this review. The people here know these products because they actually use them! Making them well fit to explain the details of each product they sell. Today: It's 2018 and I was in the market for a new photography backpack, after doing research on which bag I wanted, I didn't hesitate to come back to this place. They had exactly the bag I was looking for with a much bigger selection than 2-3 years ago. I was able to compare each one and see which was right for me. Warranty Claim: I casually brought up an issue with my old bag and case from back in 2015. Not only did Scott (one of the friendly people working at Rack Stop) offer to help with this issue, he handled the whole process for me! With live updates almost every day of steps he's taken and when to expect it! (Hahaha). Once it arrived, they held the bag and macbook case for me till I had time to come in and pick it up. Very smooth and hassle free process. Conclusion: At no gain, these guys went above and beyond for a customer and that speaks volumes to me. With a large lineup of products from Thule carried in store, you'll be able to compare side by side what works for you. I ended up purchasing a new camera bag as well which is working perfectly, since Ive booked a whole year trip out of Canada. I have Full Confidence that the guys at Rack Stop have my back if anything goes wrong. Im super excited about my new purchase and that they were able to keep their warranty promises after years of use. Well done Scott and Team! read more

Rack Stop - My purchases from Rack Stop @ Esplanade Ave - Auto Parts & Supplies Near Me - North Vancouver, British Columbia

I bought an expensive bike rack, the service was good but I soon after got sick and never used it and when I finally did I discovered it was too small for my ebike. I asked if I could return it for the slightly larger model and was told no. That seems a little heartless considering it is unused and I had no warning that it could be too small. Buyer beware. read more

I bought my Thule roof system and ski rack from Rack Stop in 2013. Greg is the most honest, knowledgeable and customer service guy in this business. We recently had an accident and the rack was damaged. Greg checked it out and repaired it and no cost. Any other business would have tried to sell me a new ski rack. I encourage anyone looking for ski or bike rack to check at Rack Stop first. read more

Can't say enough about the good folks at Rack Stop. Bought a Swagman Chinook rack 4 months ago and at first it was great. Then the lock started to stiffen up and get difficult to use, then the hook and ratchet system failed (it vibrated up and off my my frame) and my $4500.00 bike fell off and got dragged along the freeway. Swagman was terrible, couldn't even muster a 'sorry this happened'. Not interested in learning and improving their product, sent me a replacement plastic ratchet strip. This rack was only 4 months old! I will never buy anything from Swagman again. Rack stop was totally stand-up and dealt with me fairly, credited me for rack and got me into a better one for minimal extra dollars. I was very impressed with how the owner jumped in to make sure this got resolved. I highly recommend Rack Stop on Esplanade in North Vancouver. read more

Very happy with the service! I went to them to buy a fit kit for a used rack I had recently purchased, and was expecting to be given the kit and sent on my way. Instead, they started switching out the kit and installed it on the spot, no questions asked and no extra charge. Everyone was very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. I definitely recommend them! read more

"Rack" Star Service! Steve was amazing; kind, patient, understanding, and above all helpful! I came to Rack Stop today with infinite issues, including a set of Yakima racks purchased from Craigslist, no Yakima mounting hardware, mismatched locks and a car which I frustratingly damaged during my own failed attempt at an install. Long story short, I wanted advice and got an hour of Steve's time. He calmly (even with other customers in the store) helped me reverse the damage, showed me how to correctly do the install, and provided me with everything I needed. Thank You. I will be returning! read more

Rack Stop is a family run business, very knowledgeable about their products and extremely helpful too. If you are in the hunt for anything "rack" then definitely visit this store. It's not often that you meet such genuine and helpful people. I'll give them more of my business without hesitation and highly recommend that you do too. Having never bought a roof rack, bicycle rack, hitch or trailer before, I didn't know where to start. After looking online at the various stores in and around Vancouver I chose to go to Rack Stop in North Vancouver. Upon entering the store I was greeted by Greg. I explained that I was in the market for a 15 feet canoe and that I needed a rack to transport it. He first asked about the vehicle transporting the canoe and then proceeded to show me the various systems from various manufacturers. There were plenty of options and everything I was showed was of great quality. I purchased a Thule system, which was promptly fitted to my vehicle at no extra charge. After buying the canoe the following day it soon became apparent that the roof rack bars were not wide enough to accommodate the girth of the canoe. I made one short phone call to Rack Stop and was told to come by so they could remedy the situation. Greg swiftly exchanged the roof rack bars for some that were slightly wider for the canoe to sit perfectly atop the car. He also enlisted his very helpful mechanic friend who fitted some (tether down) straps under the hood of my car - again there was no charge and no fuss. Nice one Rack Stop! read more

Just bought my bike rack. These people are VERY professional!!! The website doesn't reflect their inventory... they have it all & very reasonably priced. Didn't try to oversell. I'll be back for future purchases and definitely recommend. read more

I stopped into Rack Stop after months of procrastinating, an impending MTB trip and a random encounter with their stall at the MEC bikefest. The stars aligned! I had an idea of what I wanted but needed to make sure. When the dude told me I could go in and get it done in 10min without an appointment I told myself to stop f-ing around and just do it already!!! I found the staff at the shop good, but if you go on the weekend (especially in the summer) be prepared to wait a bit. Not a huge deal though. Once I got some help they managed to get the rack on super fast and i was pretty happy with the price. Only reason I am not giving them 5 stars is because they didn't explain the limitations of the rack. I got a Spare Me for my Rav4 but no one mentioned that these racks are not great for bulkier mountain bikes or bikes with smaller frames. A single mtb fit ok, but getting two on there, even with the moveable spacers, was a crazy struggle. Especially cause my friends mtb is quite small. After about 20min of blood sweat and tears and random strapping (those extra straps saved the day!) we got both on, although I had to take my seat off...which won't be an option once i get a dropper post. All this to say, I'm not sure if they weren't aware of the limitations of the rack or just forgot to tell me. Either way, it was a bit of a pain. When I emailed them they responded promptly though. Again...service otherwise is great. read more

Wonderful experience. Last-minute plans on my end made me worried about over - filling the car with luggage. Instead I rented a cargo box, easing my travels immensely. Friendly service, and to top it off, they installed a borrowed rack from a friend. Five stars all the way. read more

Great service and even better support. Stood behind their product when defective. There is no reason to go anywhere else. read more

I can't recall when I have ever received service like this. It felt like everyone of the sales staff were there just to help me. They even removed my old hitch which I had been told was welded to the car. Not so. In 5 minutes it was off. We went over at least 1/2 dozen options for my Mini Cooper and chose the Thule Helium Aero. Everyone in the store is very friendly and knowledgeable. This is the first time I think I can genuinely say I will recommend a store or a service to anyone. They are terrific.I get my rack tomorrow so will return with an update. read more

I damaged my bike rack driving off a steep drive way. I was expecting an expensive repair but the guys managed to find a similar piece in the back and managed to repair the lock for me ( without it the rack was pretty loose) They worked really hard to save the $15 for a new key mechanism, eventually I told them to not worry I wasn't concerned about the$15. What was my ultimate charge - just the $15! Actually the service I received was generally excellent - even if they would have charged me more I would have given them 5 stars - definitely a place to recommend read more

Wow- I just received the best service from the team at RackStop especially from Greg. Despite buying my bike rack from a competitor (who has refused to answer their phone or return emails), RackStop dealt with my warranty issues with my Yakima bike rack. Not only that but Greg did a temporary fix on my rack to make it safe in the meantime and didn't even charge me. Outstanding service. Don't hesitate to use these guys for all your needs. read more

I've used Rack Stop a couple times, always super honest and helpful. Amazing install job and attention to detail at every stage.

Great (amazing) service -- small business, you give them loyalty, and they take care of you (like my Infiniti car hitch today). This is the reason I love small businesses -- they have soul. I've bought cross bars, hitch, Thule box, Thule bike rack from them over the years and in turn, they've always taken care of me without nickel and diming me. Great family run business -- do yourself a favour and build a relationship with them and their top quality products (love my aluminium Thule bike rack). read more

I had been going to Rackattack off and on for many years, but was never super happy with prices and advice there. I hadn't heard of these guys until I was calling around for a part I needed for a truck canopy rack. I went in to pick it up and was amazed at how great a shop it is. They have an enormous selection of racks & accessories, cargo boxes, towing accessories and all kinds of other stuff. Way more stuff out on display than Rackattack. Nice family-run business too - I arrived 5 minutes before closing, and the owner helped me out for another 45 minutes, not feeling rushed at all. Even though I was just picking up some parts, he came out to my truck and spent a generous amount of time giving me tips for the installation of a rail system on my canopy. Excellent prices too! They will definitely be getting more of my business - it's the first place I'll go for roof racks and accessories from now on. read more

Excellent customer service! Mike and Ann helped me get a warranty replacement for a broken (one that I damaged during the course of setup) component of my new Yakima Bike rack. The original rack was not bought at Rack Stop but that was never an issue with them. They were so professional and thoughtful in their handling of my situation. I certainly was impressed with the customer satisfaction focus of the shop. I would highly recommend them for any rack purchases and I know I will be using Rack Stop in North Vancouver for all my rack needs for the future! read more

Had a trailer hitch installed on our Lexus SUV. The guys were great with setting up the appointment, then rescheduling when I had to change it. The job turned out to be bigger than anticipated and took some extra time, but Scott was great throughout the whole thing, kept me posted on what was happening and then held to their original quote despite the extra work to make up for the inconvenience to my schedule. Overall great customer service and product. read more

I bought my first rack from this store a few years ago and was pleased with the rack and service. However, I went back with the intention of getting a new larger rack to accommodate our biking needs and was very disappointed this time around. I walked around looking for an employee to help me with my questions before waiting patiently while a store employee at the counter attended a customer with several inquires etc. (understandable). There were two other employees that walked past me and behind the counter to a back room (office?) during this time without recognizing my presence. There was also one other employee who, I assumed, was tied-up with a customer at the far side of the shop. After 20 minutes I politely interjected the conversation at the desk to ask the employee if there was anyone else who could help me. All I got was a simple (but rude sounding) "we're all busy". I felt they obviously didn't need my business so I left (still without being acknowledged by any other employee.) Just to add, I was a bit annoyed that non of the store employees wore masks, nor practiced social distancing - very disappointing. read more

I had my hitch put on my Rack Stop but had already purchased my bike rack at another location. I have zero experience putting a bike rack on but when I purchased it the other location said it was pretty basic, it just slid in and the pin goes in after and voila. So here I am trying to do this solo at home and of course it does not go as planned. Im sure it was much simpler that I made it out to be but It felt like a square peg going into a round hole. I phoned Rack stop 10 minutes before they closed and the guy said no problem come on down and bring it in I can stay late to help you. I showed up almost right at 6pm and a different employee came out and asked if he could help me. I explained my situation and how I didn't know what I was doing and I was incredibly stressed as I was supposed to be going camping the next day and I couldn't get this all sorted out. He very kindly took his time explaining exactly what I needed to know in regards to working the bike rack. He put it on for me, found out that there was an adaptor on it that needed to be removed so he did that too, sold me the proper lock I needed for my hitch/rack, took a bike from the store and showed me in detail how to properly store the bikes on the rack, explained different scenarios I might come across and how to handle them, explained different lock options for the rack itself to help deter thieves. He stayed 30 minutes after they closed to help me with all of this and I wasn't even there to purchase anything. This mans name is Steve and I cant say enough amazing things about him!! He spoke to me without being condescending and made me feel completely comfortable in using it by myself now. (I know theres not a lot to them but being a newbie it was really helpful for someone to take their time and make sure I knew what I was doing) The location where I purchased my bike rack did not spend nearly half that time when I purchased it. I will recommend Rack Stop to everyone I know in the lower mainland. Thank you !! read more
