How to begin the new year ... you might be thinking?…read more By being a survivalist of course ... without the paranoia! Look all around you as you go about your day - zombies aka Karens are everywhere! I lived in Scandinavia back in the day & I had an obsession with knifes & owned a tiny collection. There's lots of trees over there & I liked to carve up wood. I was excited & a big kid all over again (come to think of it I don't think I stopped being a kid ... some might say ... LOL) walking into Gorilla Surplus! It's located on Broadway right in-between Clark & Commercial Drive. It's situated in an old dilapidated shop that looks an old house that's on its last legs! You are not coming here for fine decor or an aesthetic pleasure experience! Why'd I pop in here you ask? Well of course because of the upcoming zombie invasion ... duh!!! Are we not entering into wave #5 & variant #23 or something like that!? Karens are losing their friggin minds & this prolonged pandemic doesn't seem to want to go away! Folks it's getting scary out there ... arm yourselves! Yikes! Many will remember the popular 3 Vets store that closed down in 2017. They used to sell quite the collection of knives & other sporting goods. GS has kinda stepped in as their replacement. GS also has a massive offering of Airsoft guns for all you BB gun enthusiasts, camo & regular survival gear, bags, hats, bear spray & batons - to ward off the zombies ... you know them as Karens! The sales dude with tatts all over him was very helpful & informative. In fact he lead me into buying an item I never in a million years would have thought to buy! I can't wait to use it! I picked up 2 items but I will never tell because Karens/Zombies could be reading this & I don't want to give them a heads-up! Hee! The crazies are here amongst us - people wake up!!! Brace yourselves ... winter is here! Happy new year - 2022 here we go!

I can count on one hand the number of times I have been to Valhalla Pure Outfitters, but every time…read moreI have purchased what I have been looking for: snow boots, hiking boots, and a rain jacket. I started a hiking group this summer and I found myself in need of proper hiking pants. This weekend I had some time to go shopping and thinking they must have a good selection because they have a large store, I went to Mountain Equipment Company (MEC). Big mistake. Incompetent staff and pants made for women with no butts. Disgusted, I went to Valhalla Pure, where I should have gone to in the first place. Moments after I walked in Valhalla Pure, an employee asked if I needed help, which I appreciated, as I desperately needed help, and it had taken a long time to find an employee at MEC (who turned out to know nothing about women's hiking pants). I explained to the employee what I was looking for (hiking pants that FIT me), and he was SO HELPFUL. He showed me a couple of different styles and brands, explained their features, and chose sizes that would fit me based on my body shape (he was absolutely spot on about the sizes). The result was that I ended up walking out of there with two pairs of pants. Next time I need something, I am definitely going straight to Valhalla Pure.

I called the customer service and they told me to bring in the backpack in a store, so they could ship it back to their head office in North Van for an inspection. When I took it back, the sales person asked me if I have washed the backpack. I was a bit puzzled and told her that I haven't. She then warmed me that they may charge me $15 for some kind of bad hygiene practice or another as the product hasn't washed and they need to inspect it as it is. I was thinking who would wash a backpack?! I asked her to make a note on the file that I cleaned the backpack, so that they can waive the charge. She then told me that it would take 4 - 6 weeks generously until they finish their inspection and get back to me on what they can do about it. This is my first time dealing with their warranty, however I dealt with Lululemon and Patagonia for their product not standing to be what they claimed, and they have always dealt with the issues immediately and made me happy. They have never made me wait for 4- 6 weeks. I have a quite few items from Arc'teryx, and I would like to support a company which started locally, however my experience was QUITE disappointing.

Will shop online instead The long: - poorest staff knowledge among multiple TNF stores visited in the USA and Canada. The staff had the least idea about the winter jackets, did not know the difference between the winter jacket types, looked at the tags for any question I asked and could not find an answer for most questions. - submitted a jacket due to warranty issues. Process was cumbersome and lacks clarity. My email was incorrectly recorded and hence I didn't receive the notification once a decision was made on my jacket. The process took ~2 months. - good covid measures: sanitation station, staff wore masks, physical distancing - no dedicated parking, parking options are limited or expensive as it's downtown

I actually love North Face gear, but this store is useless…read more I think generally they have a great reputation as medium-high quality outdoor gear maker, and I have owned several jackets which I was quite happy with. I have consistently seen North face gear on sale at places like Atmosphere Sportchek, for much better prices than directly from North Face. What up??? This location is obviously best suited for confused tourists on a shopping spree. Anyone actually planning to do outdoor adventuring would shop elsewhere for better prices, and variety. Went today to look at sleeping bags. Nothing in stock. Great company but this particular store location is an abomination.

I'm pretty glad that I did because I was able to score a few items from here. They had lots of selections. However, whatever sizes that are out is what they currently have in stock. There is an option to order your size and free shipping if you live in Canada. They do repairs in store. Cashiers were friendly but the staff on the floor not so much. I have to say that they are super unorganized! One staff tells you to move the line this way. Then another staff comes and tells you to move the line back to the other way. They don't communicate with each other. Even when I got to the cashier, she was super confused and asked what is going on. There was a long line to pay even though they had like 3-4 cashiers. Not all products are worth it but I would say most items are great. Some items are on sale and some are not. If you wanna save a bit of money, then this location is worth a visit. If you can score your size, its definitely worth a visit. Tips: *Metered street parking. *Credit card accepted. *Charges for a bag. *4 dressing rooms. *They sell limited kids items. *They have a few mirrors available outside that you can utilize to try stuff on.

When I first walked in, I was greeted with a smile by a girl working at a welcoming station at the front. I asked where men's shoes were, and she showed me, but also informed me that a sales associate that was in our vicinity could help me. Perfect ! I knew exactly what I needed. I showed him the item on my phone, he looked up the product # on his handheld and off he went to get it for me. He quickly reappeared with box in hand! The shoes were exactly what I wanted and they were on sale for a really great price. I went to the cash area, where there were a few people in front of me. I didn't have to wait for more than a minute or two before it was my turn. The cashier was also smiling and friendly. Reza is a champ and immediately got to work. He went through the entire store and pulled so much for me and was so incredibly patient even as I started becoming more picky with the options. While helping me, he was also impressively attentive with another couple who seemed to be last minute shopping as well. Generally speaking, I was really pleased with all of the customer service through out the store. From the moment I walked in, to the check out process on my way out, everyone was super pleasant, even considering the fact that they were officially closed at the time I was checking out. Highly recommend in the Vancouver area for the service alone! Thank you again, Reza and Team!
