Wish they had a location inside CF Centre.

We did the entire 'snowboard alley' of W 4th and this place had by far the best deals. Not only were the prices better to begin with, they also carried more classic styles and colours in jackets and pants that suited my friend's fashion tastes. The staff were really helpful picking out a snowboard that was a great price, European-made and would last him for years. The graphics were pretty sweet, too. The board was freshly waxed and they set it up with the bindings in-store. In addition to already low prices and some sale items, the staff cut my friend a deal since he was buying a bunch of gear. It was the cherry on top! This shop also has non-snow-related sporting gear on the second floor.

Of the many board shops in this area I walked into this one first. I was coming from out of town…read moreand looking for a whole new setup including a snowboard, bindings, boots and bag. When I walked in I felt out of place as most beginner snowboarders probably would feel. It just looked like a small, cramped board shop to me but compared to the other places, I'd take that over the stuffy, boutique type of shops the others seemed to be. Jess at West Coast was very helpful asking me questions to better hone in on what type of equipment would best suit me. She was super informative and didn't pressure me to commit to purchasing anything. In fact, she even told me to go to the other shops in the area to compare equipment and pricing. Pretty ballsy but it made me feel at ease right away. I went to all the other shops and no one made me feel comfortable about being there. Very few questions and assistance. Instead it almost felt like they were uptight because I may not have looked like a typical snowboarder. Needless to say I went back to West Coast and bought the lot, about $1500 worth of equipment. Then I put it to use going up to Whistler the next four days and loved every second of it. The board (Bataleon Goliath) performed great and my feet felt perfect throughout every run. Lastly, I would've given them 5 stars but the person helping my girlfriend with her ski boots was unknowledgeable and not a very big help to her. If you do go to this place go see Jess. There was another Aussie guy behind the counter that was giving his input and helping me out as well but I didn't catch his name. Mahalo, K

It is fairly big with a decent selection of clothing and accessories. Eddie Bauer does have good quality items and my rain jacket is still going on strong after 3-4 years. Over the years I have bought many items from this store, and while the staff is not as friendly or helpful as the other stores, it is still good. If you are into outdoor activities like hiking and skiing, the clothes do keep you warm. I wore 2 coats (meant for -28c and -40c temperature) when I was in Yellowknife for Christmas and they kept me warm in the -40c temperature (-50c at one stage with windchill). You can get items at very good prices when they are on sale or clearance. They usually do an additional 60% off clearance items, so check out the stuff when you are there. Otherwise, it is quite common to have 30%-50% off throughout the year, just wait for them. Sign up for their email promos and membership. I usually don't need any help when I shop at lululemon, and have actually had customers, friends and clients (I'm a personal trainer) ask ME for advice or recommendations on all things lulu! I guess I do know a lot about all their products lol! I've been a loyal fan since the very first Hawaii lululemon store opened in 2008 or 2009 when I still lived in Honolulu. Anyway, my husband and I were back in Vancouver recently and were excited to do some shopping at both the Kitsilano and Robson St. stores (which we did!). I've shopped at this location many times, as I used to come to Vancouver every summer to run the SeaWheeze Half Marathon (LegaSea here!). Sheri helped me select some shorts and answer questions I had about a couple items I had saved in the app (unfortunately they didn't carry those items in-store). She took the time to chat with us about our visit to Vancouver and even about their ambassadors, which we just appreciated her being so personable. Ended up leaving with a few more items that I wasn't even planning on buying, but hey...when in Rome! Or in this case, when in Lulu! ;)

I started a hiking group this summer and I found myself in need of proper hiking pants. This weekend I had some time to go shopping and thinking they must have a good selection because they have a large store, I went to Mountain Equipment Company (MEC). Big mistake. Incompetent staff and pants made for women with no butts. Disgusted, I went to Valhalla Pure, where I should have gone to in the first place. Moments after I walked in Valhalla Pure, an employee asked if I needed help, which I appreciated, as I desperately needed help, and it had taken a long time to find an employee at MEC (who turned out to know nothing about women's hiking pants). I explained to the employee what I was looking for (hiking pants that FIT me), and he was SO HELPFUL. He showed me a couple of different styles and brands, explained their features, and chose sizes that would fit me based on my body shape (he was absolutely spot on about the sizes). The result was that I ended up walking out of there with two pairs of pants. Next time I need something, I am definitely going straight to Valhalla Pure.

I went in to purchase a back pack for myself today and the cashier had made a strange comment about my nationality- asking how I felt about Trump trying to take over Greenland. Not only was this comment out of pocket and inappropriate, it could've also ended poorly for the cashier who had asked it, if it had been asked to a different person. I wish she would've just scanned the tag and let me pay for my back pack instead of making me feel awkward about asking me about my political beliefs. This is the second strange interaction I've had with this cashier, hopefully 3rd times the charm.

The staff are friendly and when my kid's jacket had holes in it less than a year after buying it, the warranty process was easy to go through. Just remember to wash the garment before bringing it to the store for them to mail to their repairs/warranty department. They give you a form to fill out and they will contact you within 8 weeks to let you know if the damages are covered by warranty (damage due to manufacture defect vs customers" rough use) and if they can repair it or if they will give you credit to cover replacing the garment.
