Gorilla Surplus have really helped me out over the past few years and i was very happy with my last couple of visits. Respectively i've had much better interactions with their staff on Broadway than their downtown location on Granville, and their willingness to make things right and offer a solid deal is appreciated. The surrounding neighbourhood appears a bit rough around the edges but they've always been patient and professional with certain characters frequenting the business, and keeping that in mind i try my best to be polite and patient as a customer to the staff. Although they may have some issues regarding the price point on their website compared to the in-store price, they went out of their way to make sure i got the better deal and even exchanged the price difference without having to exchange the product itself. As stated before if you come in with a polite, friendly attitude they really do come through for their customers.

As a military fans, I have visited most of surplus shop in North America especially in California and Vancouver. It's my first trip to be here and will leave soon. In this lovely shop, I found plenty of professional outdoors equipment and interesting things. I found an old dog tap maker, so unique and precious, show the long history. The boss and the staff is very friendly and patient. The day before I lost my ROTHCO tactical hat in the valley on the ferry, one stuff guy show me the newly catalog of ROTHCO, it was so amazing! The boss give my son a gift of a little plane, my son was very love it! Thank you very much! May you good luck!

From the very moment you approach the front door and are greeted by a mounted life-sized guerilla wearing army fatigues, this place proves to be pretty much everything it should be. With BB guns, knives, crossbows and hopefully inoperable grenades, it offers all kinds of weapons and offensive paraphernalia for the schizophrenic conspiracy theorists out there. Oh, and it sells empowerment to women in the form of bear mace. There are also all kinds of canteens, helmets, and assorted war equipment that will attract the collectors out there, and anyone interested in civil war reenactments will turn into a kid in a candy store. Lots of clothes too, like combat boots for goth metal heads and full body urban camoflauge outfits for wannabe gangsters and people hoping to blend in to the scenery downtown. Overall, this is the place to go if you want to look tough to compensate for a small penis, or if you're planning on hunting down all the people who made fun of you in high school.

Want to buy a custom fitted cruiser vest? Interested in keeping overly warm in an arctic parka? Maybe you want to try your hand at tree planting and you can't seem to find a left footed short handled bear root shovel? Perhaps you are in need a new hip chain or a few rolls of hip chain string? Feel like finally changing all your steel caulks for ceramic tips? Need to buy a new spoon for your increment borer? If you understand half of what I have said then Deakin is the store for you. Surveyors, geologists, archaeologists, biologists, foresters, miners, loggers, contractors, and basically anyone that works or loves roaming about in the great outdoors will find the wares at this shop more than useful. I would have given them five stars if they had called me back after I ordered a particular sized screen and went to the store a month later to find one sitting on the shelf. Perhaps writing orders on random pieces of paper isn't the best way to keep things organized.

Will shop online instead The long: - poorest staff knowledge among multiple TNF stores visited in the USA and Canada. The staff had the least idea about the winter jackets, did not know the difference between the winter jacket types, looked at the tags for any question I asked and could not find an answer for most questions. - submitted a jacket due to warranty issues. Process was cumbersome and lacks clarity. My email was incorrectly recorded and hence I didn't receive the notification once a decision was made on my jacket. The process took ~2 months. - good covid measures: sanitation station, staff wore masks, physical distancing - no dedicated parking, parking options are limited or expensive as it's downtown

I actually love North Face gear, but this store is useless…read more I think generally they have a great reputation as medium-high quality outdoor gear maker, and I have owned several jackets which I was quite happy with. I have consistently seen North face gear on sale at places like Atmosphere Sportchek, for much better prices than directly from North Face. What up??? This location is obviously best suited for confused tourists on a shopping spree. Anyone actually planning to do outdoor adventuring would shop elsewhere for better prices, and variety. Went today to look at sleeping bags. Nothing in stock. Great company but this particular store location is an abomination.

I started a hiking group this summer and I found myself in need of proper hiking pants. This weekend I had some time to go shopping and thinking they must have a good selection because they have a large store, I went to Mountain Equipment Company (MEC). Big mistake. Incompetent staff and pants made for women with no butts. Disgusted, I went to Valhalla Pure, where I should have gone to in the first place. Moments after I walked in Valhalla Pure, an employee asked if I needed help, which I appreciated, as I desperately needed help, and it had taken a long time to find an employee at MEC (who turned out to know nothing about women's hiking pants). I explained to the employee what I was looking for (hiking pants that FIT me), and he was SO HELPFUL. He showed me a couple of different styles and brands, explained their features, and chose sizes that would fit me based on my body shape (he was absolutely spot on about the sizes). The result was that I ended up walking out of there with two pairs of pants. Next time I need something, I am definitely going straight to Valhalla Pure.

I called the customer service and they told me to bring in the backpack in a store, so they could ship it back to their head office in North Van for an inspection. When I took it back, the sales person asked me if I have washed the backpack. I was a bit puzzled and told her that I haven't. She then warmed me that they may charge me $15 for some kind of bad hygiene practice or another as the product hasn't washed and they need to inspect it as it is. I was thinking who would wash a backpack?! I asked her to make a note on the file that I cleaned the backpack, so that they can waive the charge. She then told me that it would take 4 - 6 weeks generously until they finish their inspection and get back to me on what they can do about it. This is my first time dealing with their warranty, however I dealt with Lululemon and Patagonia for their product not standing to be what they claimed, and they have always dealt with the issues immediately and made me happy. They have never made me wait for 4- 6 weeks. I have a quite few items from Arc'teryx, and I would like to support a company which started locally, however my experience was QUITE disappointing.

I'm pretty glad that I did because I was able to score a few items from here. They had lots of selections. However, whatever sizes that are out is what they currently have in stock. There is an option to order your size and free shipping if you live in Canada. They do repairs in store. Cashiers were friendly but the staff on the floor not so much. I have to say that they are super unorganized! One staff tells you to move the line this way. Then another staff comes and tells you to move the line back to the other way. They don't communicate with each other. Even when I got to the cashier, she was super confused and asked what is going on. There was a long line to pay even though they had like 3-4 cashiers. Not all products are worth it but I would say most items are great. Some items are on sale and some are not. If you wanna save a bit of money, then this location is worth a visit.
