Usually I love MEC, they have an awesome selection of outdoor gear and have a superb return policy…read morewith adequate prices. I went in to purchase a back pack for myself today and the cashier had made a strange comment about my nationality- asking how I felt about Trump trying to take over Greenland. Not only was this comment out of pocket and inappropriate, it could've also ended poorly for the cashier who had asked it, if it had been asked to a different person. I wish she would've just scanned the tag and let me pay for my back pack instead of making me feel awkward about asking me about my political beliefs. This is the second strange interaction I've had with this cashier, hopefully 3rd times the charm.

What can I say about MEC?…read more They sell stuff people are excited about. What is not to like about getting gears/equipment for your next adventure. But....... This particular MEC is very shed like. A big box but not a big box because it's not Walmart? Why kid yourself, it is still dehumanizing how you know you are a chicken in a chicken coop. Walking in narrow robotic aisles. Meh to the crappy interior and ugly exterior. Ok. But what about the goods? Was looking for a few items where the online status shows availability but not on display and no salesperson around to ask or their automatic response is "whatever you see is what we've got". A statement that is more of laziness than true. ...Then why does your online presence say otherwise. So many items are either not priced or mispriced...it is frustrating. Again no salesperson to be found. Only cheerful ones are those going on a break or leaving for work. Then they will answer "whatever you see is what we've got". Terrible experience.

I called the customer service and they told me to bring in the backpack in a store, so they could ship it back to their head office in North Van for an inspection. When I took it back, the sales person asked me if I have washed the backpack. I was a bit puzzled and told her that I haven't. She then warmed me that they may charge me $15 for some kind of bad hygiene practice or another as the product hasn't washed and they need to inspect it as it is. I was thinking who would wash a backpack?! I asked her to make a note on the file that I cleaned the backpack, so that they can waive the charge. She then told me that it would take 4 - 6 weeks generously until they finish their inspection and get back to me on what they can do about it. This is my first time dealing with their warranty, however I dealt with Lululemon and Patagonia for their product not standing to be what they claimed, and they have always dealt with the issues immediately and made me happy. They have never made me wait for 4- 6 weeks. I have a quite few items from Arc'teryx, and I would like to support a company which started locally, however my experience was QUITE disappointing.

Want to buy a custom fitted cruiser vest? Interested in keeping overly warm in an arctic parka? Maybe you want to try your hand at tree planting and you can't seem to find a left footed short handled bear root shovel? Perhaps you are in need a new hip chain or a few rolls of hip chain string? Feel like finally changing all your steel caulks for ceramic tips? Need to buy a new spoon for your increment borer? If you understand half of what I have said then Deakin is the store for you. Surveyors, geologists, archaeologists, biologists, foresters, miners, loggers, contractors, and basically anyone that works or loves roaming about in the great outdoors will find the wares at this shop more than useful. I would have given them five stars if they had called me back after I ordered a particular sized screen and went to the store a month later to find one sitting on the shelf. Perhaps writing orders on random pieces of paper isn't the best way to keep things organized.

Will shop online instead The long: - poorest staff knowledge among multiple TNF stores visited in the USA and Canada. The staff had the least idea about the winter jackets, did not know the difference between the winter jacket types, looked at the tags for any question I asked and could not find an answer for most questions. - submitted a jacket due to warranty issues. Process was cumbersome and lacks clarity. My email was incorrectly recorded and hence I didn't receive the notification once a decision was made on my jacket. The process took ~2 months. - good covid measures: sanitation station, staff wore masks, physical distancing - no dedicated parking, parking options are limited or expensive as it's downtown

I actually love North Face gear, but this store is useless…read more I think generally they have a great reputation as medium-high quality outdoor gear maker, and I have owned several jackets which I was quite happy with. I have consistently seen North face gear on sale at places like Atmosphere Sportchek, for much better prices than directly from North Face. What up??? This location is obviously best suited for confused tourists on a shopping spree. Anyone actually planning to do outdoor adventuring would shop elsewhere for better prices, and variety. Went today to look at sleeping bags. Nothing in stock. Great company but this particular store location is an abomination.

To this point everything seems normal, when I ask him that who's gonna call me, and he showed me a guy, I thanked him and then he start yelling at me that; "DON'T INTERRUPT HIM" very rude and unusual customer crevice behaviour. I talked to shop supervisor as well, something happened as bad as the first guy behaviour. It seems that all the sale persons are on sale percentage, not on a salary, so why they should waste their times??!!! However I'm not gonna back there. They are too rude!!!!
