You can tell this business has been purchased by a hedge fund! This new operation no longer has the love of product, caring service or knowledge to call themselves a specialty retailer. The clerk admitted he knew nothing about bicycle racks and didn't offer to go to the back and get a more knowledgeable manager (I stood there and looked up my questions on the internet), didn't know how to apply the Rack Rewards discount and insisted it applied only to the first item of a multi-item purchase. The "manager" managed to fix the issues, stated that they were all learning and never apologized. Very sad - they have been our go to store for years - you generally pay a higher price there, but you could always count on caring service, good advice and a great attitude, making the lack of discounts worthwhile. read more

Rack attack helped me find the perfect roof top box that would fit through my garage door and carry my long skis (182cm). The staff took their time in listening to my concerns and identifying solutions that would work for all my needs. I needed to access the box from both sides, hard shell, gloss black finish less than 13" tall. They suggested an Inno box and confirmed the color and finish I wanted since this was one of the few that fit the dimensions. I will be back this spring for a hitch and camping setup. Within a week, the guys at this Rack Attack ordered my Thule platform bike rack and hitch, and installed it all on my car. Originally I thought I'd buy a Kuat rack but Evan demonstrated some convincing reasons to choose the Thule and I have no regrets. I've been very happy with the strength and support of the rack and its installation. I was shown how to use the rack again after installation and its been no problem driving from downtown to Golden or could be anywhere, it's very solid back there. Sweet name and inventory. Anytime I've been in the store the employees are cheerful, helpful, and knowledgeable. Keys were lost on my new Volkswagen Alltrack for the roof racks. Went to Harry H Miller VW Down the road and a chill employee mentioned Rack Attack could help me out. Had I gotten the keys with him I would have paid an exorbitant amount just for the VW logo. Short ride down the road and Rack Attack was able to help me out for eleven dollars! They knew exactly what I was asking for and just had to double check the rack serial number. Was in and out in about five minutes. Parking lot is a bit small and tight but never jam packed to cause a problem. Driven by this location for years with no idea it existed. Five-star service with a Huge Shout out and Thanks to Issac and Josh for helping me adapt my older Yakima roof rack system to fit my new 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Issac and Josh were very knowledgeable about exactly what components I needed and provided in-person guidance on how to adapt my older aero crossbars and SKS locks to fit my new Jeep with a fixed-point rail mounting system. It was a bit complicated, and I'm an engineer! Btw - they do indeed Price Match as advertised. Just bring in a printout of the competitor's price for the same component. This shop sets the standard for bringing good engineering skills to challenging SUV rack and accessory installs. My expensive Jeep Grand Cherokee (2014 Overland) has been a great vehicle for my family for all sorts of outdoor adventures in the Rockies in all weather conditions. Except the original equipment roof rails are WAY TOO WEAK for high wind conditions and heavier loads. The Rack Attack shop in Golden has a great solution for upgrading the roof rails for this generation of Grand Cherokees, and the cost is reasonable for such a big improvement in carrying capacity and safety. I brought in my pop-up camper earlier this summer to the Denver West location and had rails and crossbars and bike racks installed by the Rack Attack team. Throughout, they were informative and helpful. When we took the camper out after having the rack installed, the ceiling lights in the camper didn't work. I brought it in, they volunteered to look at it and, yesterday, they spent several hours to find out that it was a coincidental blown fuse (and not the roof penetrations from installing the rack as we suspected. Dustin and the whole team are great to work with and I really want to give them a shout-out for tracking down the issue with a smile on their faces (at least what I could see behind the mask). These jerks tried to rip me off 10 years ago and I've been pissed off ever since. Glad I realized today I could give them a bad review on yelp. Worst part is the owner was in on it. I went in one day and spent a bunch of money to buy a roof rack and trailer hitch which they installed on site the same day. I informed them I was moving to New York the next day so they were great about installing it right away. They gave me two choices for the hitch wiring one option was more thorough and was the proper way to do it, the other option was to cheaply run a wire and connect directly to my battery. I chose the more expensive and proper solution. As soon as they were done I drove over to U-Haul to pick up a trailer. Five minutes after leaving U-Haul and driving down the highway all the electric components on my vehicle went dead and it became immediately dangerous. Luckily rack attack was still open so I drove directly back to them and spoke to a different employee and quickly found out they charged me several hundred dollars more for the proper solution but then hacked together crappy wiring for the cheaper solution. if this hadn't happened so immediately it might've left me stranded in the middle of the country somewhere. The owner came out and talked to me and didn't even apologize, just covered for his criminal employees and made excuses. At least they did then properly install the wiring but it set me back a couple more hours. I live in Colorado again now and I make sure to tell everyone I know to never give these guys any business. I attacked (see what I did there?) my cargo box shopping mission in Denver not knowing if I'd have to spend all day driving from store to store in search of the specific box I was after, or if Rack Attack, the first store I visited purely based on geographic location, would have exactly what I needed for a price close to my budget. Browsing the sales floor with all the shiny new cargo boxes upwards of several hundred dollars, I was about to leave when the manager asked if he could help. I said I was looking for a pre-owned, low profile, yet long Thule box in black to fit my toaster-shaped Honda Element. This was important because a longer box would ensure I'd have a place to stow away unruly passengers. Kidding. But maybe not. A quick look in the back and there it was -- a sun faded customer trade-in with strong bones in search of adventure. This bad boy will run ya $400 brand new and Rack Attack was asking $275. That price would bend my budget like a fat kid in a candy store. I had been targeting similar used boxes around $200 on Craigslist, but the right size had been hard to come by and there it was, right in front of my face. After a little haggling to creep closer to my budget, I figure I'd save additional gas money on my goose chase around Denver, so it was worth pulling the trigger on this box for $250. The manager installed new arms to raise the box door and secured it to my roof rack right where I wanted it. The only thing I wish is that it had been cleaned before installing. A few dead bees and bits of dirt were included at no extra charge. I have since driven thousands of miles where I'm happy to report that I no longer have bees in my cargo box and that it has done a great job holding all the passengers, I mean gear I shove in there. read more

Been waiting on a part for over two months it was out of stock at Yakima but has been in stock now for over two weeks. I have called four times trying to get this part before I leave on a vacation that I need this for. I hear that oh it'll ship to you at the end of this week , that would make 3weeks since Yakima has had it in stock and over two months since I ordered it . I've been told I can have a manager call you back. Never been called back , I've always had to call. unacceptable. I really believe that this part was never ordered. Especially since it was a missing part out of a box I bought from them that they said they would replace. I've always had good service from them on parts that I bought from them in store.
