WARNING!!!! THEY BREAK YOUR VEHICLE, CALL YOU A LIAR, AND REFUSE TO PAY TO FIX IT!! I brought in a brand new (not even a few hundred mikes on it) $75,000 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT to get roof rails put in. They up sold me and told me this is what they do and I should have them install them. So when I get into the car I notice the lumbar has been pumped up on the chair. So I get out and there is a large foot mark where the lumbar controller is on the car and the lumbar controller is broken. I call the manager, explain the situation, and he said, "We did not break it and I talked to my guys and we are not going to pay." I then asked him what is the number for the corporate office and he said, "You can get that from the website." Wow, I have not had such a 1950's style customer service of "That's your problem and if you don't like it don't come back, so eat it." Rack attack really let me down. Very unhappy. I went to get a set of bars installed on my Subaru - and I originally intended to get the door edge pillars and aerodynamic bars. In the course of conversation Zach told me about Thule flush mount bars, which were much lower profile and were promised to be much quieter than the pillar mounts. They were $150 more, and holes were needed in the roof to mount them, but I was assured this was something they did every day and they knew what they were doing. Long term, if there were any problems with the install I was told, rest assured, they'd take care of it under warranty. I pay the extra and a couple hours my car is done. I get it just as they close. Everything is golden until I hit 40mph - anything beyond that creates a shrill whistle coming from the rack. No big deal right? Wrong. I research and the manufacturer recommends that the bars be repositioned if there is excessive noise. Well that can't be done with them being permanently mounted to the roof. The next morning I take my car in to have them take care of the whistle, and now I'm told the racks all make noise. Whistling isn't a problem, according to Ryan. As an aside, as we're discussing the rack we step out to look at the car and I notice there are dents in the cars trim work exactly where the bars were mounted. This is a car I take immaculate care of and I know like the back of my hand and the car had no dents before their install. I express my upset to Ryan - and he tells me that I couldn't prove they put the dents in the car - he said that hail would look like that. I asked him if he seriously thought the hail had dented the car exactly where the bars were. He said yes, and that the dents were not their problem. He said even though I should have been expecting a whistle to begin with he'd take a look and see if anything could be done. Two hours in the waiting room later Ryan says he tried all kinds of things and the only option that worked were big nerf pads for the bars with car-wide 5" rack attack logos facing front and back. They looked stupid and the whole point of getting the low profile bars was aerodynamics and aethetics. I had paid cash so Ryan knew I had no recourse. I couldn't go back to my credit card company to challenge the charge, and they sent me away unhappy and with dents and a lot of hurt about their customer service. So once I got home I decided to take a look myself. I mean, if these pros at Rack Attack couldn't figure it out how could I? But I dug out the manual, opened everything up, and then I became really upset. The bolts holding the bars to the mounts were loose! Like already out a couple turns loose on both sides. Shims had been hacked into the front bar to set it at an angle, and the bolt with the shim was cross threaded on one side. The whistle was coming from a gap created when they put the mounts too close together on the roof. To top it off one of the end caps was improperly installed. Not a big deal itself, but reflects the attention to detail the obvious stuff gets. If I had used this rack as they installed it I ran the risk of my cargo becoming unbound and hitting the vehicle behind me. The bolts weren't even finger tight! So I spent time fixing their shoddy work, and put gorilla tape in the gaps created by the mounts permanently mounted to the roof being too close together. I wrapped the bars in paracord to get rid of the useless pads they had tried to 'solve' my problem with. Now everything is virtually silent. Since I couldn't get them to install it right, fix it, or take responsibility for the debts they put in my car and knowing they intentionally screwed me over knowing I had no recourse through a card I know their 'lifetime warranty' is bullshit and even if it weren't I wouldn't let my car anywhere near them again. I spent the time to type this so you can be an informed consumer. I never write bad reviews. Rack attack completely disappointed me. So I wrote this one. Update 6/27/18 - Ryan at rack attack reached out to me and offered to take care of the dents and cover the cost of an air deflector. I appreciated the follow up, and think it says something beyond what I had said in my review, so updating them to 3 stars as a result. read more

Getting a hitch was something foreign to me. I did a lot of research and popped into their office to chat with them about any questions I had. I ended up getting the hitch elsewhere but they were willing to still attach it to my car. I thought everyone was very professional, it was done quickly (40 minutes) and I thought the price point was fair as I shopped around. Side note: it was a nice day at their new location so I opted to sit on the sidewalk and they brought me a bench when they noticed me out there. Waaaaay cool! Not being all that bright to begin with, I forgot to lock the hitch pin lock that secures my Thule rack to my trailer hitch. Wouldn't you know, the lock is probably somewhere on I-25 between Denver and Red Feathers? Enter Rack Attack. Referred to me by a sales person at REI, I called and they were really helpful about explaining how the lock that I lost is no longer made. He said that they could hook me up with the new lock and hitch pin that would work and re-key the bike cable lock to match. Expecting to pay $50 for this, I entered their shop yesterday. Imagine my great surprise when the guy says that he though he had a body for the old lock laying around and then matched the lock to the cable lock I already had. $21.50 later, and I am waaaay happy. Great service and knowledgable and fair people! Rack Attack will be the place for my future rack needs, that is for certain. read more

Awful! My family and I made a special trip up there on a Saturday to buy a roof rack and cargo box. We all went in (it isn't a big place) and they completely ignored us! Not a hello, not a hold on, nothing. We stood there for about 15 minutes and left without any notice. Look long enough and you can find just about anything along east Leetsdale. Including Rack Attack-- a specialty car rack joint, offering mainly ski and bike racks (along with some unique racks that you wouldn't think of). Some places come and go, but Rack Attack's been on Leetsdale for at least 10 years. You can locate it by the vintage yellow car, out front. Their prices are typically well below places like Car Toys; and there's usually not a long wait. Other places told us 2-3 hours to install a rack, but Rack Attack got us in their bay instantly and had us out within 15 minutes. The tech even gave us a few pointers on how to best use and care for our new rack (for example: it's a good idea to avoid car washes with the big ol' brushy rollers). I don't think I'll have a need to visit Rack Attack too often, but if I ever need a rack again, I'll gladly hop out to visit these dudes. read more

Bought a wind deflector from these guys a few years back, it was a Thule. It was closing time when I was there and the guy was cool enough to help me install it right on the spot...no charge! Today I went back as 3 out of the 4 brackets had broken on the deflector, first guy I dealt with was nice enough but couldn't find me replacement parts, then another guy stated he knew where a secret stash was....he went in the back and found me some! These guys are great! I've dealt with them two times now, and got courteous, prompt service. No attempt to upsell. Today I came in because I bought a new bike rack off of Craigslist. Turns out the base didn't fit the model of my car, and it would take a couple weeks minimum to order in a new base. I was hoping to leave for a long mountain-bike road trip today. The front desk guy cut me a deal, and said if I paid the $10 rush fee (still would take a few days to get to the shop) he'd take a base off of the new racks in stock and just replace it when the other base comes in. Deal! He even went ahead and installed it for me without my asking or even expecting. Showed up - there was one and it was spoken for. Called the Colorado Springs store. They had a floor model but wouldn't/couldn't get it to Denver. I've never felt smaller than I did walking out of this store. I went in to buy a rack for my car and had a conversation with the sales person where I asked a lot of questions and explained I wasn't sure about the product. He seemed irritated with the questions, sold me a product, and sent me on my way struggling to get out the door while I carried the rack I bought. It was the wrong product for my car which is my fault, but with my car parked outside and my obvious lack of knowledge on the product I'm frustrated he couldn't have taken a second to look at my car. And maybe open the door for someone who is tripping while walking outside to carry the product out and can barely get the door open. When I came back to return it for the right rack he chastised me for not knowing what I needed the first time. I was nearly in tears by the time I got to my car. Stopped by to get info and schedule a custom roof rack install after talking with Dan on the phone. The shop was very busy with customers waiting and several customers coming in behind me. There is no number system so when that say "who is next" everyone jumps to the counter. Needless to say, after not being helped and 3 people behind me being helped first, I left. The other customers certainly didn't have a problem cutting the line but the business has to be accountable too. Didn't help that I was only female and wearing a bright pink shirt. These guys are amazing! Especially Adam. We were passing through Denver to pick up a bike and trailer and found out our trailer hitch wiring was not done properly somewhere else. Rack Attack was able to squeeze us in on a Saturday and get the wiring done right. We got down the road and had some more issues so we called them back. They stayed after closing for us to get the problem figured out which ended up being a blown fuse and wire that had come loose. Everyone we dealt with was so friendly and willing to help. The cost was very reasonable and fair. They went above and beyond to get us back on the road. Adam is our hero for staying late and working hard even after getting an eyeful of dirt from under our bumper. I would highly recommend this place to anyone. read more

I had Rack Attack install an OEM roof rack and crossbars atop my 2009 Honda Pilot. I purchased the rack beforehand and paid them $100 for the install, and I consider that a pretty good deal. Better than what the Honda dealership quoted me for the install. It was done in an hour, and I was able to use wifi while waiting. The service rep was easy going but professional. I would bet that this is the most economical way to have a roof rack installed- buy it yourself and have Rack Attack install it. I could have done it myself, but for 1 hour of waiting and the knowledge it was done right, it was worth $100. read more

This place is the nexus of indifference and incompetence. As I walked to my car after dropping over $1300 I was sure of two things - 1) the salesman had ordered extra onions with his lunch and 2) he was going to completely screw up my order. There's no way to verify the onions, but I was spot on with #2. What added insult to injury was how flippant and annoyed every person seemed to be when I called for updates. When, to no surprise at all, yep, they utterly screwed up and left me hanging, they couldn't even muster a halfway sincere apology. If your needs can be conveyed with a combination of pointing and one syllable words this might be the right place. If they require actual thought, care, and diligence then you should definitely go somewhere else. read more

My husband and I needed a cargo box for upcoming road trips. I called Rack Attack first to make sure they had things in stock. When I arrived, there were two other people being helped so I only had to wait a few minutes. The man who helped me was very knowledgeable and helpful. Given that I know nothing about the brands, he could have tried to sell me the most expensive one but he didn't. He was very honest about what he recommended. I was able to purchase a floor model and have it installed very quickly. He showed me how to install it and remove it so that we can remove it when we aren't using it. Overall, my experience was great. I would definitely recommend this location to others. read more

These guys are the best. I had a complicated mess-up with Thule that they totally fixed for me. I ended up trading 2 box setups for a high-end Thule cargo box and rack setup. They were over-the-top helpful, knowledgable, and generous with the deal they gave me. Then they even replaced some rubber feet for me for FREE over a month later, no questions asked. I've had good and bad experiences here. First, I needed a whole new rack setup for my car. Brand new its looking about $600 total, so I shop around. Rack attack was my first stop, and they said they would get me the stuff to the tune of around $600. They didn't have the fit kit, so I left them my name and number and they said they would call when it came in. In the meantime, turns out REI was having 20% off sale on thule, so I grabbed most of it there. I end up buying a 'near' new rack off Craigslist, and I have all of my stuff for about $400. Time passes.... Nearly a month after my visit to rack attack, I receive a call saying they got my piece in. Too little too late. So I end up having some trouble with the rack I bought off CL, but it is a yakima and does have a lifetime warranty. It applies to only original purchaser, and that person did not have the receipt nor were they willing to help me out. So in comes rack attack. I stopped by, showed them the damage, they took some pics and said they would get back to me the NEXT day. A few weeks pass, with numerous phone calls into them to see the progress, but eventually they get it done and I've got a brand new rack from yakima through them. I tried a few other stores first who said no receipt, no love. But with a little pushing and shoving, rack attack has hooked it up and i'm safely and happily trekking up to the mountains again in my own car, thanks to them. Overall I'd say 3.5 stars, so we'll round up. read more

Worst customer service I have seen in a long time. So bad, in fact, that I signed up with Yelp to complain! My family and I just drove for half an hour to be completely ignored by the entire staff. Not even a "Hey", let alone "can I help you" or "We will be right with you" during our 15 minutes there. Okay, it could be my own ignorance, but I thought Rack Attack was the ONLY place one could get a rack or any value. Wrong, I found many places where I could get economical or high end racks and cargo carriers. It just seems like they could have told me that instead of shrugging their shoulders. This place is great and super friendly. I actually bought a car rack online for some random place. I'm not very tall and my friends aren't very hands on so I was a bit worried that I had not installed it correctly. I'd hate to be the one driving my friends to the mountains only to have our gear end up on I-70 like road kill. So I called Rack Attack up and a friendly voice answered and said to stop on by.
