    Heart eyes!

This store is serious. I felt a little tense walking in, because I am just getting into some more legit outdoor activities. Today, I was only looking for a pair of shoes for rocky hikes. I forgot his name, but Despot's doppelganger knew exactly what I needed, and was patient and kind and helped me find a pair of shoes that best suited the shape of my feet. I didn't buy anything else, but they have a great sample/consignment section, the prices were pretty amazing considering how expensive this kind of stuff can be. Definitely recommended, I'll be back to take off my training wheels the next time I'm in Denver ;)

This place is great! I came into this store a week ago after REI referred me over here because they didn't have everything in stock that I needed. Allan helped me pick out everything I needed including a sleeping pad, down jacket, and rain jacket. He was knowledgeable, honest, and helpful. I loved that they have sample jackets! I will definitely come back here!

This is the offensive "backpack" I was asked to leave behind the counter.

Today I stopped in with my son to do some shopping and was told I had to keep my "backpack" behind the counter. I told him he was welcome to check my "backpack" when I left but I wasn't comfortable leaving my personal property outside of my view. I asked him if they ask for women to leave purses behind the counter and he said no. So we left and won't ever be coming back. 1. My "backpack" is essentially a purse with an extra strap. It's a poor excuse for a backpack really. In fact it was sold in the "purse" section of the department store. 2. I have never been asked to leave it behind the counter before. Been in many times. Bottom line I'm not going to shop in a store that is so paranoid they treat customers as criminals. I appreciate there are shoplifters in the world but asking customers to hand over their personal property to strangers crosses the line. You are inadvertently telling customers, "I don't trust you to not steal, so you must trust me to hold your property if you want to shop in my store."

Called to ask a simple question and got a response that was ridiculously rude. Sad, looked like a cool place to shop. So much for that

I visited during a very busy day looking for hiking boots for Colorado living and also Mt Kilimanjaro. Since it was so busy I was helped by someone in the shoe department who didn't quite have the knowledge to guide me to what I need. I ended up leaving with 2 pairs that I ultimately returned. Not the best but they were busy. HOWEVER, I went back on a less busy day, and Tom in the shoe department was an absolute angel. I told him what I'm looking for and he pulled 3 pairs out for me- size, weight, function that I needed. The second pair I tried fit like an absolute glove and I was in and out much faster and happier. Tom was super helpful and had the knowledge to vouch for this pair of shoes. Very happy, give that man a raise!

The store itself is huge and located within the restored 1901 Denver Tramway Building. This building is all brick and just stunning to walk up to and into. They offer every type of equipment one would need for their selected sport whether it's hiking, climbing, cycling, camping, paddling, skiing, snowboarding or overall fitness. They also offer the option to rent outdoor equipment, provide a full range bike shop and ski and snowboard services. The store features a 47 foot tall climbing wall right in the middle of the floor and other unique decorations. I have never been in such a huge REI store but it was a fun experience. My husband managed to spend all his saved up gift cards (Ha! Ha!) Service was friendly and helpful from the staff. REI can always be a little on the spendy side but I always try to catch their sales. I love being a member and receiving my annual rewards. Parking is the only downer as it's only free for the first hour. After that you must pay and believe me, an hour is not enough time here. So glad we had the opportunity to stop in, shop and check out this historic location.

Wearing a 5lb raincoat saturated with water is insane. Fast forward to today. I'm waterproofing some other clothing items and think to myself that it may be a solution for the jacket. If I could make my soft shells more water durable, maybe I could do the same for the outside of the jacket? No shot. After a delicate cold machine tech wash, I pull the jacket out and the inner liner is destroyed and coming apart (image attached). This was the first and only wash I've done on this jacket. Followed the care instructions and took even more care of it than labeled. So disappointed in the jacket and the brand. I've submitted a warranty claim on their site so we'll see what happens. Will update the review. *it's a little hard to tell the condition of the inner liner with a photo, but this jacket is unusable now. The neck area is the worst but the inner liner as a whole is compromised.
