I had some lowlander friends coming in to town and not enough camping gear, so I rented them some sleeping bags and camp chairs. Outdoor Geek was great. They fixed the order I submitted wrong and worked with me on a pick-up and drop-off date. Everything was clean and in really good shape. We came here to rent microspikes and potentially buy bear spray. Carinna (sorry if I spelled your name wrong!) was super helpful. We decided against the bear spray based on the locations we were hiking but the spikes were reasonably priced and we were so happy we rented them! A lot of people on the trails didn't have them and were struggling on the ice and snow. The employee that helped us return the spikes was also very nice. Super easy and enjoyable renting experience. All of the gear was in good shape and very high quality brands. My girlfriend and I got the Couples Retreat Package and it was perfect for our needs. The only things we needed to bring were some kitchen utensils (forks and spoons), a sponge/soap for cleaning the cookware, and a lighter for the stove. The Outdoors Geek staff are very friendly and if you pick up from the Denver warehouse you will be greeted by a couple sweet shop dogs. I would definitely recommend this service for anyone that wants to go on a camping trip anywhere in the country without the massive investment of purchasing quality camping gear. They were so helpful and had everything I needed. I was able to purchase a lightly used cot for a decent price and a little stove. Not only did the big box stores not have camping items I needed, but they were also very over priced. I found great quality equipment that was new or like new for great prices! Easy way to rent, simple and affordable! Family friendly feels and you'll be greeted by dogs!

Everything was great until we tried the put it all back in to the box. The box was stuffed to the gills, it was like a game of Tetris trying to get it smashed back into the box. Please give a bit bigger boxes. It was 90 degrees and we spent more time getting it back in than it did to set it all up. The tent and sleeping bags were really nice. We never ended up cooking so we never even used the grill, pots and pans. read more

Before I planned our family trip to Yellowstone, I didn't even know such a service existed! This company will mail camping equipment to a UPS near your destination so you don't have to fly with it. We were delighted with the service from beginning to end. We got the Yellowstone package which has a tent that fits the 8x8' footprint limit that Grant Campground sets. All of the equipment (tent, chairs, table, cooking set, mattress pads, sleeping bags) were clean and in good condition. We bought our own propane and firewood, and brought cutting board, knife, and eating utensils. They provide a spatula and cooking spoon... I wish we had thought to pack our cooking tongs. We are not experienced campers so we appreciated that the tent came with instructions printed on the bag label. The cooking stove didn't come with step by step instructions, so you may want to check that out before you end up in Yellowstone without cell service. The mattress pads do require inflating and they are very smooth - our campsite was bit totally flat, so we all slid off our mats the first night. We ended up packing our clothes around us to keep us on our mats! Try to find a level spot for your tent. Thank you to whoever suggested taking photos while unpacking the boxes - it wasn't easy to Tetris everything back in. They mailed our package to the Jackson UPS, which charged us an additional $30 to store the 2 large boxes. They also gave us the return slips and plenty of time to return the equipment. Every email I sent received a response within an hour - super responsive! I highly recommend this service for anybody who doesn't own their own camping equipment or doesn't want to haul it to their destination. I just got finished with a 3 week road trip with my family of 6. It's tough packing for a camping trip when you have to take a flight to get there. I was just at Fire Fly Music Festival in Dover, DE - they had everything ready for me at the event, and so helpful prior to the event making sure I had all the right equipment, and more importantly so nice and knowledge about setting the camping equipment up, which came in handy. Rented gear for Firefly Music Festival in Dover, DE. Package included big tent, shade awning, table, chairs, lantern, sleeping pads and sleeping bags. Everything was very clean and in almost new condition. One of the sleeping pads seemed to lose a little air overnight however. But was still comfy to sleep on. The employees were very nice and helpful. They shuttled us and our gear back to the campsite. read more

Great service here at OG. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. We live in the area and were going away on a 3-day trip to Steamboat Springs, so we actually swung by their location and picked up the gear in-person. All of the equipment was super-clean and top-notch! I apologize, but I don't remember the names of the people that helped me (a female, a young male who helped me load the gear, and the man who I believed to be the owner) but ALL were fun to speak with, knowledgeable about the surrounding areas, and expeditious in helping us get the right gear. Because of them, our trip was a wild success and we had an outstanding time. I would recommend to anyone in the area or ordering from elsewhere (though I can only speak to my experience of picking up locally, of course). This is a a great way to try out specific gear before buying it, as well. They have some top-notch brands and there are also many items for purchase in their warehouse. Excellent experience renting backpacking gear for a 3-day trip. Everyone was super helpful on the phone to make sure we got the proper gear to fit us. They also made sure we had everything we needed. The gear arrived the day before our trip but you are not charge for that day and you get an extra day after you get back to send it all back. All of the gear was in great condition and a good majority of it was brand new. The price was great considering it was a complete package. Most other online rentals you rent everything separate. read more
