My husband had to spend four days at Utah Valley Hospital in Provo for broken vertebrae, ribs and sternum. I had to retrieve the broken bikes from the tow yard 2.5 hours away and then figure out how to fly back to California. So glad I called Hangar 5 in Orem! Preston Weeks answered my call/cry for help and graciously greeted me in my rental van with all the contents of our road trip including the broken bikes. He took the dirty bikes from the van and agreed to clean them up and inspect the damage, which allowed me to fly back to California with my husband. Two days later he sent us a detailed inventory of damages to the frame and components for each bike. Subsequently he meticulously packed up both bikes and parts at our request and shipped them back to us so that we could salvage all that was still usable. Since we are not local to Orem, it was exceptional to experience this level of consideration and service. All of you locals are very lucky to have such an amazing bike shop and team members like Preston Weeks to take care of your cycling needs. I highly recommend this shop and if we are ever in the area again, I will definitely be visiting Hangar 15. Simply amazing!

Great concept and new location…read more These guys moved from a small leased garage to a much bigger abandoned business on the East side of Provo in 2016. They are a DIY shop where bikers of all ages come to buy, donate and refurbish bikes. First time going I spent three hours working on a used Raleigh road bike. There is usually 2-3 staff members around and one will usually greet you. The trick here is to Quickly ask questions, find a spot to work at and be patient. The guy working admitted that he wasn't very experienced but together we fixed the bad wheel. Spent about $20 for his assistance. A week later the wheel was off again. I brought it back (2 hours more) and worked on it with a more experienced guy. Spent another $20 Rode it once and off again. Recently found out that they gave me the wrong wheel. Went back but no wheel was available. Great concept and open on Saturdays. You can also donate used bikes here.

A misleading ad about a ski package led me order it. The description was of skis and bindings and…read moreall the pictures showed the bindings mounted on the skis. There was one package price listed. I ordered them as such. I then received a shipping notification for the bindings with a separate price. I called immediately to cancel the order as I knew that having bindings mounted was not cheap. This was not what I budgeted for. I was told that everything was shipped, so the order could not be cancelled, but to call back when I received everything for an adjustment or to return the equipment. Btw, when ordering I was offered a 15% coupon, but then at checkout was told it didn't apply to my order. When I received the order, I checked with local ski shops and $100 was the lowest price I could find for mounting. I spent a half hour on the phone with a polite, understanding customer service rep inquiring about some type of credit. $25 was the offer. I pointed out how the ad was misleading, an offered coupon was not honored, and it would cost them more if I returned everything. I simply wanted at least half of the mounting cost reimbursed. The most frustrating aspect of this customer service interaction was that a supervisor will not get on the phone. The poor rep had to keep going back and forth. When she told me she could escalate the issue to a supervisor, I readily agreed, but she pointed out they would respond by email! THEY WILL NEVER GET ON THE PHONE AND SPEAK WITH SOMEONE!!! I dropped off two…read moree-bikes and encountered issues with both the quality of work and the management's conduct. **Bike #1:** I was charged $75 for a flat repair and derailleur adjustment (on a new bike)--nearly double the market rate. Worse, the bike now only shifts through half its gears (it worked perfectly before), and the "repaired" tire went flat after one ride in my driveway. When I tried to inflate it, the tube popped at only **10 psi**, indicating a faulty installation. **Bike #2:** The experience with my wife's bike was even worse. The quote spiraled from a tune-up to a total of $365 as they continually found "new" problems, including issues with a derailleur that had zero problems previously. **Customer Service:** Jerry's communication style is aggressive and condescending. When I questioned the mounting costs, he used scare tactics, repeatedly telling me the bike was "dangerous" and "unsafe to ride" to pressure me into more repairs. When I tried to voice my concerns about being nickel-and-dimed during this three-week ordeal, I was laughed at and hung up on three separate times. I was even insulted personally when he told me he "would have never let his bike get this bad." This shop relies on upselling through fear and has zero respect for its customers. Save your money and go somewhere that values integrity and basic mechanical competence.

Outdoors Unlimited is a BYU-owned outdoors goods retail and rental store. I've only gone there for…read morerentals so I can only speak to that. First, the interior is very nice and well-kept. There are two sides of the store--one for retail and one for rental. The two things I rent here are ski/snowboard equipment and tandem bicycles. For ski/snowboard equipment, I think this place is tough to beat. The equipment is not only always very new and well-maintained, but it also comes at a great price (about $20/day) I do night skiing and snowboarding every now and again and Sundance so I'm glad that I can get cheap rentals somewhere convenient and cheap in town rather than getting gouged at the resort. The tandem bike rentals are also awesome. It's a great date, and it's $25 for the day. The Provo River Trail is one block away which is beautiful and leads right up Provo Canyon past Bridal Veil Falls if you're looking for a longer, but more scenic ride. The one thing I don't love is that, because the store almost exclusively employs college students, it leads to high turnover. High turnover for me ends up meaning that oftentimes the employees aren't familiar with prices. I've had to almost with people there two or three times on prices I knew, but they insisted were more. I don't think it's bad customer service on their part, but it is a little annoying. Overall, I think this place is great!
