I have conflicting feelings about this place. They are very friendly and have a good selection of bikes and the bike we bought our son is awesome. The problem is their communication. We had an issue with my sons bike and needed to get the brakes replaced after a month of having the bike. It was a warranty fix and so there was no cost to us but it took a very long time and there was zero communication. We had to call for updates and finally had to call and ask when it would be ready just to find out it had been ready for a few days but we had received no communication it was ready. That was a big disappointment and frustration. read more

My husband and I were in the market for some new bikes, and a wonderful employee named Lisa helped us find our perfect bikes. She helped us with frame and tire sizes, water bottle holders, replacement tubes, emergency kits, and a map of bike trails in Utah Valley. Lisa was patient with us as we made up our minds, and she was efficient in completing transactions and teaching us about different features on our new bikes. A week after we got our bikes, I got a flat tire. In the process of pumping up the new tire, I lost the O ring that goes inside the mini pump. We brought our pump to the store to see if they had an extra O ring, but they ended up giving us an entirely new pump for free! It was so nice of them. It stinks that there is a line to get into the store, and customers aren't able to touch anything, but I am grateful for their precautions in protecting against COVID-19! read more

I've used Trek of American Fork for a number of years and have nothing but positive to say about their service and their products. But this time, they went "over the top"! I purchased an "Ordinary" bike...also known as a Penny Farthing or Bone Shaker. It needed a bit of work, so I dropped it off at Trek AF. Now this is not something they would normally work on, but they jumped right on it. Went in to the store to buy a tube. I asked for some quick advice on my seat height. They refused to help me, but offered to sell me a fitting for my bike for $75. I've looked at the bikes they have for sale. They are overpriced. Just because Lance Armstrong rides a Trek is no guarantee that they are any better. Shop around! read more

So glad I went to Trek Bikes of American Fork. I spent weeks looking online for a new bike for my son who has started Downhill racing. Today I picked up my new road bike from here. What a great experience! First of all the staff is very friendly and knowledgeable, the store has a great selection of bikes and accessories and the prices are fair for what you are getting. The part that really impressed me was the fitting process. When I went in to pick up my bike they told me to bring my gear so I showed up with my shorts and jersey and then they had me get on my bike which was mounted into a stationary device and pedal it while my pedaling pattern was analyzed. This was followed by and adjustments to the bike and adjustments to my cleats until the perfect setup was achieved. They really went above and beyond anything I have ever experienced before when buying a bike. If you are in the market for a bike this is definitely the place to go. read more

Now that I've moved beyond a positive purchase experience, I thought I'd write about my post-sale experience. I chose to try tubeless tires after a series of puncture flats during group rides. The back story is too involved and not relevant to this review. But going through at least 10 defective tires in six months should give you an indication of time and frustration spent on both sides. Only one was a puncture flat, which did hold. The owners and employees of Trek AF have been incredible during this whole ordeal. They have been accommodating, friendly, and always have a "lets fix it" attitude. I'm sure they are as frustrated as I am, but have always stood by to provide support. Perhaps they never want to see me again, but instead, they call and follow up to see what is going on with the latest tire. To be clear, there really is no way for the retailer to know if a tire is defective before mounting, and after querying other shops, they, too have had similar issues with these brands. The failures occur days or weeks after installation. I have been remarkably impressed by the level of commitment to make sure a bike is running for a customer, especially for a situation that is unknown and awkward to work with. read more

I was in the market for a new road bike last spring and stopped in at Trek Bicycles of American Fork to look at what they had. I was immediately impressed with the shop. Everything was neat as a pin and very well organized. Alot of bike shops have so many bikes on display that you can hardly move around the store. Not here; everything had a purpose. Even the restrooms were spotless! I was approached by Chris, one of the Owners of the store. I found her very down to earth and friendly. I was immediately impressed with her product knowledge; she wasn't just interested in selling me what she had on hand. She listened to my needs and helped me choose a model that was just right for me. She made me feel important. I have very wide shoulders for a man my height and she spotted that immediately and made sure that my handlebars were wide enough for my build. Nobody had ever taken that kind of time to make sure the product fit the customer and the application. I wound up ordering a Trek Domane Project One; lead time was about three weeks. The bike came in right on schedule and came with a custom bike fit that Chris performed herself. I'd had bike fittings before, but nothing like this. It started with a video of me riding the new bike attached to a trainer from several different angles. She then started adjusting things, first in big steps and then fine tuning. She was very meticulous in her work. The entire process took over an hour and finished with another video of me riding the bike on the trainer after all the adjustments took place. The improvement in my riding position and pedal stroke was very noticeable. I was as she put it: "dialed in." In about a year, I've put 2,100 miles on my bike. I love it. The Iso Speed de-coupler on the Domane is heavenly! Last week I took the bike in for a tune-up as I'd about worn out my chain. I'd put different wheels on the bike midway through the summer last year. The new set of wheels were a little wider than the old ones causing me to adjust the brakes so that they'd fit. Jeff, Co-Owner of the Shop, looked my bike over and asked me if I'd adjusted my own brakes and I said yes. He told me they were too tight and were probably rubbing on the rim during ascents. Again, attention to detail! That's another thing I like about these folks. They love the business of cycling and they'll educate you about bicycles. Bottom line: In life, relationships mean everything. With all due respect to all the other bike shops out there and there are some good ones, for me I'll keep going back to Trek Bicycles of American Fork. Jeff and Chris know their stuff and they care! I decided I wanted to put bar ends on my new Trek 7.3, which is tricky because of the unique handlebar system. When I called this store for help, I was immediately impressed with the kindness and "we'll take care of you whatever it takes" attitude. I worked with an incredibly nice guy named Jeff, who even though we'd never met, said he'd do some research for me and call me back the next day and HE CALLED ME BACK. Bar ends and the special adapter he found are on their way! After all the shops I've been to while buying a new bike, getting accessories, and working out a small mechanical problem, I've been frustrated by the apathy, condescension, and unhelpfulness of so many of the staff at local bike shops.
