Nothing like warm curry and rice on a rainy Saturday afternoon. Or shall I say "Raany" lol. You can't go wrong with this place if you're looking for Thai food. Food 4/5: Good Thai food. Nothing out of the ordinary, which is fine because you don't need to reinvent the wheel with Thai food. They do the classics very well. You can also choose how spicy you would like it, which ranges from 1 to 5 (5 being super Thai spice). I opted for the massaman curry and the Thai basil rice. Both came in large portions that lasted us two meals really. The reason why I love Thai food is because of the many dishes that can be made vegetarian. That holds true for the menu at Rana Thai. Next time I'll be sure to try the green curry. Service 5/5: We were seated immediately to our table. Our waitress was very attentive to us and made sure we were having a good time. The food was prepared expeditiously. Ambience 3/5: Definitely not the best in terms of decorations or set up. There is so much potential. Everything is so so good! Highly recommend! Tamarind duck with coconut rice is cooked to perfection. Drunken noodle with beef, spice level 3- you have to ask for level 3-is my favorite! The noodles are perfect size and texture. The beef is tasty! The whole dish! So frickin good! I tried the chicken sauté with peanut sauce and coconut rice. This was also very tasty and balanced. My favorite drink is the Thai tea. It helps to ease the spice; its just delicious! I tried the Thai wonton soup today as well. You can taste garlic, cilantro, pork flavor and curry. The wontons have chicken. They look homemade. I think the flat noodles for the drunken noodles are homemade too, but you'd have to ask. Im not sure. This is my 3rd visit, the food is consistent. Raan Thai has really solid Thai food for an establishment in long island. On occasions, I order a bunch of orders and take it home for my family in brooklyn since there are no worthy thai places near us. My go to used to be the drunken noodles for the spice but after ordering the pad see ew with level 4/5 spice, I was hooked. I found that the pad see ew has a lot more flavor and vegetables that suited my taste more than the drunken noodles. Be wary though that any spice level 3 or higher can get pretty spicy depending on your tolerance. I highly recommend the lunch special as it comes with two of either soup, salad or spring roll. And an order of their Thai iced coffee to accompany your meal! Super solid and at a great price. Ps: do not have them rush an order for take out. I had to do so one time because of a miscommunication and the dishes were flavorless and not cooked well. read more

Good, solid Thai food. Tried the basil eggplant and the drunken noodles with imitation duck. Since it was my first time here, I requested mild (which they kindly adhered to!) but next time I will try the food a spice level up. Both dishes were great, and the lunch special was a great value with the included sides (I chose spring rolls and tom yum soup). Hostess who helped me was very sweet, and the vibe in the restaurant was upscale-cozy (is that even a thing? You know what I mean!). Probably one of the best Thai restaurants you can find deep in Suffolk, LI. Although this place has become more of a takeout place than eat-in, the food is amazing. Red curry with imitation : 7/10. The curry was great! Very creamy and flavorful. Tasted authentic! This curry was a bit sweeter than I would've liked, but sweeter/creamier curry is Thai food's speciality! The imitation duck was YUMMY . It was honestly one of the better alternative meat options I've had . You must try it (meat eaters and non meat eaters alike). Very friendly, small, quiet and intimate restaurant with amazing service. I order the three appetizer special, the curry chicken puffs, spring rolls, and Thai dumplings. They all had their unique sweet and savory sauce. I loved all their appetizers especially the Thai dumplings they were my absolute favorite. Very good Thai food. We ordered delivery and it came hot and fresh. We ordered the Thai egg rolls to start - very good and a lot of flavor. The dipping sauce was also very good. I had pad Thai for my meal and my husband ordered chicken noodle curry. We shared an order of Thai fried rice too. Everything was really good and we ordered it mild-spicy, perfect amount of spice. One of my favorite Thai food restaurants around the area! The portion sizes are decent for what you pay for, and the menu is surprisingly broad. We got the pigs in a blanket for an appetizer (fancy name for shrimp spring roll), drunken noodles with pork, and pad thai with pork. Amazing Thai food worth your money. Great customer service. I was telling my friends how my phone didn't have enough service to check in on Yelp, and the waitress overheard the conversation and gave me their WiFi password. 3 of us got the Drunken Noodle (vegetable, imitation duck, chicken) and my favorite was the imitation duck, as it was crispy + soft. We also got a Chicken Pad See Ew, and it was a bit too salty. 3/4 of us took some home since the dishes were filling. Since you're wondering... My local thai restaurant was closed and I remembered that a friend suggested this place and it did not disappoint! I originally drove past the restaurant because it sort of blends in with the other establishments but dont let the look deter you. Upon arrival I was greeted by their friendly hostess and able to sit wherever as there wasn't really anyone there at the time. I ordered what I always order which is Drunken Noodles and asked them to make it a level 3 spicy and I ended up scraping the plate! It was so flavorful and definitely had a kick! My date ordered the duck with a side of steamed noodles and said it was amazing! He also ordered the tea which was very good as well. Stepped passing by this area last night, I have really high expectation for this Thai food place. But my experience was not that great with the food. For the food : 2/5 all the portions way too much for me. I ordered mango curry , chicken wrap , dumplings Frist Chicken wrap was ground chicken sautéed with chinese broccoli trunk which was a bit bitter taste Second Chicken mango curry : it was very creamy but blended. the mango was really really really sour. We sat and looked at the menu. Well, well! While we didn't expect it, we saw that they had lunch specials! I've never had drunken noodle before so I tried that with tofu. My husband got our favorite, pad see eew with beef. Lunch came with an app of choice, so I got the fried spring roll while he got the upgraded soup: Tom Yum soup. We also got curry puffs from the regular apps menu and Thai iced teas. Everything that we got was so good. The lunch special was a steal! It's a good portion and flavor-packed. I had the pad Thai, pineapple curry fried rice, spring rolls and the curry puffs. The spring roll and curry puffs were like a little quick bite before the pad Thai and fried rice. They were delicious! The curry puffs with the sauce were finger licking good. The spring rolls taste like regular spring rolls you get from any Asian establishment but for me the true winners other than the curry puffs, were the pad Thai and pineapple curry fried rice. I've only ever had takeout from Raan Thai and I'm truly obsessed with it - which I think really speaks to the quality! Fell in love when I lived nearby and still get it every chance I can. My faves are the drunken noodles (add vegetables) and the Tom Kha soup. I love that you can add a side of steamed veg - I'll often order this to mix in with my soup or noodles just to get some extra "health" in. Have had many appetizers that were fabulous as well. Tried Raan Thai tonight. I love Thai food and this place made my favs delicious. Nothing stood out but I'd definitely eat there again. Had Drunken Noodles heat #2 (next time I'll try #3). Tom Kha Kai soup was and always is delicious. And chicken Satay from a review I'd read saying it was 10/10. It was good, I don't always get satay do I can't honestly contribute but it was very good. In the face of the deteriorating quality of Asian food in this area, this place is a beacon of light!! I went for lunch this Saturday afternoon. It was so good, I decided to bring food home for my husband as well. Considering our needs, i.e., low sodium, gluten free -- and for me no peppers or turmeric -- this place had many quality options. And they make fresh food. The sauces are not prepared with a powdered base, which even some purportedly quality Italian places are using these days! Hence the neon orange look. Raan Thai's glass noodle soup was delicious! The broth was light and flavorful and nutritious. The steamed veggies are a nice option and I took peanut sauce home, which is also a side dish. Zee, my waitress, was attentive, knowledgeable, efficient and informed about the menu. She was not frightened by our limitations. Zee actually remained calm and smiled, a genuine smile! The outside and inside could use a booster shot on the decor, but not bad at all. PROS: The pad thai was great, not too sweet, with an ample amount of shrimp. And a dish that all 4 people in my party didn't like, so we left them. In my opinion, i'd skip this dish. There are so many better choices. Shrimp with Pineapple fried rice: a good amount of tastey shrimp and a delicious blend of veggies, fruits and nuts in the rice. I would recommend this dish. Service: a very nice set of new waitresses. They admitted to being new and service reflected that, but everyone has to start somewhere. The young girl with glasses and short dark hair, wish I got her name, was fabulous. So sweet and truly someone who belongs in customer service. She was excellent. CONS: service was a little shaky at first, but they turned it around. Dumplings were not very good at all, we left them. They seem to be missing the fresh spring roll with shrimp. They have a summer roll, but I was looking forward to the fresh veggie and shrimp one, with some peanut sauce for dipping. I didn't see it on the menu. OVERALL: Great spot. I highly recommend. Ordered over the phone and got extremely helpful customer support by mailyn who gave me a recommendation of the sweet and sour chicken because at first I was looking for sesame chicken so that's what she recommended and I picked it up and she was so happy and just excited to be there and super sweet and that's what's good about this place and their atmosphere and the food let me get started it was DELICIOUS! The food comes naturally on the spicy side if you don't specify, but fortunately you can choose your spice level on a sale of 1 to 5. There isn't a ton of seating but I haven't had to wait.
