Have come here a few times and overall, pretty tasty. I appreciate the parking in the back, there is always lots of seating, and service is kind and efficient. There is a variety of panasian dishes. Most recently, I got the string bean garlic sauce with pork, and I was very surprised by how authentic and tasty it is. Tried Mango Tango recently, a so-called Latin fusion Chinese joint that sounded like a party and tasted like a breakup. First, the portions were so small I thought I'd accidentally ordered from the kids' menu. For basically $20, I got half a scoop of rice, three slivers of chicken, and a garnish that had more effort than the entire dish. I've had free samples at Costco that left me more satisfied. And the flavor? Nonexistent. I kept chewing, waiting for something (lime, chili, garlic, anything), but all I got was warm disappointment. It was like someone whispered "fusion" over plain steamed food and called it a day. The Latin side ghosted me harder than a bad Tinder date. There is a 2 page lunch menu and plenty to choose from. All the dishes we ordered were very good. We shared a sushi lunch order as an appetizer. Portions were generous and the hot dishes were tasty. While looking for Chinese food in the area, Mango Tango came up on yelp as recommended for people who like Mr. Wangs in Oakdale. It is located in the heart of Islip Main Street. There is a very small parking lot in the back and street parking. Everyone was friendly, the place was clean and cute inside. Service was fast, the food was hot and came out quickly. This place is an Asian fusion place with many sushi options and a portion of the menu allowed you to choose meals from different Asian regions which is not something I've seen elsewhere where. The fried rice was very good. Less greasy and more fresh tasting than a traditional Chinese restaurant. Each of the plates came with serving spoons or tongs which is something else I haven't seen many places offer. I opted for soup. The wonton soup was tasty. Yummy broth and delicious wontons. I was looking forward to my pad thai as I was slurpping my soup. The excitement went down as soon as I mixed the peanuts in and took my first bite. It was super sweet and not spicy at all. Although I was able to see the red pepper flakes, there wasn't one ounce of spice at all. I also noticed mushrooms and onions in it. I've been eating pad thai for over 15 years. The fried pork dumplings looked nice on the plate but the filling was pretty soft/mushy to the point where I worried for a second they might not be fully cooked. We ate them anyway. The Pad Thai had a good flavor overall and came out piping hot but the pork that I got with it was also super soft and almost slimy. Had a feeling its would be there, but getting to read through all their selections was overly appetizing and excited me to go back and try more. This day I opted for the Spicy Girl roll, which wasn't too spicy unless you really added some wasabi. It was super fresh, mouthwatering overfilling the palette at times. Maybe that was me though with all my extra ginger though. This is not a roll on the Lunch special menu, so I opted to order a Miso soup and Ginger salad along with it to make it have the feel of one. Although will say in the end it was more of a late lunch...so a 'Linner' for me. Soup was warm and just right...down to the perfectly knife cut tiny cubes of tofu. Salad was fresh and crispy with a good amount ginger dressing it. Beverage glass was never left empty and they even supplied me with the extra fresh lemon that I requested. Mango Tango is one of those cute and cozy restaurants, along Main Street in Islip. As I mentioned, I do encourage every Yelper to reach and help out the mama and papa businesses in the area. Last night, we were a party of 5. My sister made a reservation for 8:30 pm. The restaurant has small parking lot in the back for customers. The decor and space of the establishment is nicely done. Despite the size, I didn't feel cramped. The tables are spread out apart, according to covid19 health protocols. As an appetizer, me and my sister nibbled on edamame. They were boiled to perfection and topped with sea salt. Delicious! We shared the pork ginger dim sum and chicken satay too. My sister had the tofu with sauteed vegetables, her husband had the pineapple shrimp fried rice, and my cousins ate chicken fried rice. I ended up ordering the Maki roll special, miso soup, ginger salad and pork ginger dim sum. Both the miso soup and ginger salad were brought in first. My favorite were the pork ginger dim sum; the flavor was amazing with the right amount of warmth from the ginger. The waitress met out every demand and was not only polite but very funny too! Despite the fact that she was wearing a mask, she made us feel very welcomed. Slowly but surely things will be back to normalcy soon. We will definitely be back again. Wow, Mango Tango is a hidden gem in Islip. We arrived here thanks to a groupon and were excited to try the fresh dishes as so many reviews spoke about. Since the wife and I love to sit at the sushi bar when a restaurant has one, we were able to watch the sushi chefs engage in finessing their meticulous movements to create works of art. They even presented us with an appetizer to try out on the house. It was a flash fired salmon wrapped veggie dish. It was out of this world. As our main we had the sushi & sashimi combo with a Philadelphia roll instead of California ($2 upcharge), the mango tango roll, the pineapple rice and chicken lo mein. Every dish was on point and not overly salted which is so rare to find. We accompanied all this with fresh green tea. Can't wait to go back, it's definitely entering our rotation. read more
