When possible I like to support small independent local businesses and made the call for an estimate . Dan the owner spent a lot of time at our in home visit to review the scope , made great suggestions on 2 new pots and pan drawers and assured us we would not know they were refaced but would look like new cabinets . We chose a beautiful Maple wood with new drawers on amazing soft close silent hardware . The work crew was professional , skilled craftsmen that figured out every little corner and angle to perfection . I am amazed at the quality of work . The transformation is stunning . My adult daughter just saw the new kitchen today for the first time and was so impressed she thought it was all new boxes from the ground up ! Then Dan came to our house and spent a significant amount of time with us explaining our options, showing us samples of cabinets, and answering all of our questions. We opted for several additional options on top of our initial estimate, but we never felt pressured to add or upgrade anything. We initially had hoped to do refacing to improve the overall aesthetic of our kitchen, but we were so excited to discover some of the additional options that were offered that solved functional problems that had always bothered us! When we reached out to Better Than New, we didn't even realize how much they could do besides just refacing. We replaced all of our old, hard-to-open drawers with beautiful, easy to open, soft-close drawers. We added a pull-out drawer for trash and recycling bins. We replaced sagging shelves in our cabinets. And we replaced the shelves in our deep pantry with drawers, making the space SO much more usable and accessible for our tall family. So not only is the kitchen beautiful, but it's so much more functional. There were zero hidden fees. The work was absolutely immaculate. The team was incredibly professional. And the work was done as scheduled and on time - the entire project only took 2.5 days!! I didn't receive estimates from other companies, so I don't know how the price would have compared. But we feel that the finished product, the quality of the materials used, and the professionalism and skill of the team were worth what we paid. Their guys showed up on time. They were courteous. They were respectful of us, and respectful of our home. They asked for our input when they got to a part that required some judgement. They performed mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and drywall work. All done nearly to perfection. And they passed the acid test; after they left, I noticed two small things which I thought could have done better. They returned immediately and made these right. And they sent an invoice almost a week later (giving us an opportunity to discover any other issues, which we did NOT), and the invoice was for the exact amount of the estimate. They accepted my credit card payment over the phone. Our job was a small one, but they have definitely encouraged us to contact them again for our next job - small or large. we ordered new kitchen cabinets through the Gilbert location. Cabinets were order in November 2025…read moreand scheduled for installation the week of January 19 - 23, 2026. We were told it would only take these five days to install the cabinets. Countertop measurements took place at end of January and countertop installation took place on February 18th. As of today, March 16th, the installation is still not complete and finished. DKB was last out on March 2nd and only completed most of the cabinetry related items and has yet to install some under countertop lighting, and install surfacing on the bottom side of some upper cabinets. Our project would only be this far if not for our constant follow up and phone calls. We were promised our concerns would be addressed back in February by a upper manager of DKB when they didn't schedule sufficient time for our installation the first time around. It is now two months this week since the one week when all work was supposed to be complete. Still over $1,000.00 in paid for work to be complete and no phone call or follow up by DKB to complete our improvements to our satisfaction. This whole process has been a bit frustrating and disappointing. We were not informed that the countertop installer and plumber are two different subcontractors. Our Designer was not experienced with cabinet lighting and electrical rough in needs and requirements. Unable to assist with any type of coordination efforts when requested to make sure power sources were prepared and ready. it wasn't until after the cabinets were installed and countertop measured that we learned our selected countertop as it turned out is not available in the size needed without additional joints in the slab. This caused more delays to our schedule. Had the limitations of the countertop material been discussed at time of design back in November, the design could have been changed. Again, just another example of inexperience we had to learn the hard way. Still no telling if or when our new cabinetry will be complete.

We had an excellent experience with Holtzman. We replaced carpets and cabinets in the living room…read moreand kitchen. We also installed new cabinets and a wine cooler while demolishing a built-in entertainment center. The bulk of the project was done in eight weeks, including two significant change requests made by us: 1. The concrete floor was cracked and very uneven. My foreman identified this issue, told us how he would repair and level it, and then spent a few days pouring a new floor and leveling it. If he didn't address this floor issue our new to be installed engineered floors would have cracked over time. 2. We decided to paint almost the entire place well into the project, so work was delayed while the painters did this new work. What was great about the project: 1. The sales process was easy and reactive. Paul visited with us a number of times and helped with all of the planning. 2. We were assigned two interior designers. I worked closely with one, and she helped me pick out new appliances that had to fit into very tight places. She even told me that the appliance sales people I'd ultimately work with would try to correct me. Her recommendations were made with surgical precision, a centimeter in some cases. It was really impressive. 3. Their demolition crew was unbelievably efficient. They took this whole place apart in about nine total hours. The cleanup was impeccable. 4. The project manager engineered the entire thing. The workers knew what needed to be done, especially when he wasn't on site. 5. I met various workers and contractors. I was shocked by how good their work product was. The flooring person was excellent and extremely prescient. All of the workers really enjoyed working together, which was reflected in their work. I think this is also a reflection on how they liked working with Holtzman. 6. After the project was complete we met with a post-project coordinator afterwards, and told us what to do if we were at all unsatisfied. 7. When Holtzman contacted us with questions we provided immediate answers. There were a lot of decision points on material items, which I was happy to answer so the project stayed on course and details weren't skipped over. Every detail was addressed, and it shows. We have more projects in the works, and we expect to be working with Holtzman.

ATTENTION: Yes, Holtzman filed CH 7 bankruptcy. Yes, they are abandoning all jobs in progress…read morewithout notice to the clients. Yes, you will be losing any monies paid to Holtzman. If you are one of these clients, please file a complaint with ROC against the Holtzman license for job abandonment. Be sure to get the correct license number before filing as Holtzman has two licenses, H Remodeling and H Construction. They have switched their licenses to "voluntary cancellation" status due to recent news coverage, link below, but the ROC still allows you to file a compliant. Also, file a complaint with the AZ attorney general. Brandon Holtzman allowed his salesman, Rob Hardee, to knowingly underbid jobs in order to get sales. Rob was paid his commission on the front end with the first deposit so he never cared what became of his jobs after he collected his pay. On the backend, Brandon was too stupid to audit Rob's work and discover there was never enough money in the bid to actually complete the work. Rob ran this scam on Holtzman for years and they were too smitten with the con man to notice until it was too late. The Holtzmans are too cowardly to tell their clients the truth. They are now hiding behind their lawyers while they have turned off all sources of client communication. Instead, their dirty work is being handled by employees who care to much about the clients and their projects to leave them hanging without a word, even though these employees have zero obligation to do so. If Rob Hardee was your salesperson, he was fired months ago. The amount of money being lost by the clients with jobs in progress is staggering. Not to mention all the trades that have gone unpaid for months and Holtzman's employees now out of work. These people need to be prosecuted for fraud and never allowed to work in this industry again.
