The bartenders are always so nice, make a good drink, and have great music playing. R&R Lounge continues to be featured year after year in the Westword's 100 Bars You Can't Live Without and I would agree with this bar being on the list consistently. R&R has been in business for a very long time in its current location in the Park Hill neighborhood along Colfax. Have been a few times before and I can always expect the same fun everytime I go. So I stopped in on a Friday night, around 10:30pm and stayed until midnight. It was my first time to the R&R Lounge in Denver. Upon arriving, I was not greeted but the vibe was welcoming which is good enough for me. The bartender, Matt was very friendly, welcoming, and professional. It was sorta busy and Matt was the only bartender there. Despite how busy it was, he was awesome and made sure everyone was set. The crowd is friendly and it can be loud sometimes but it shows that people are just having a good time. You don't have to be apart of the Lgbtq+ community either. The R&R Lounge welcomes anyone. It's the perfect place to decompress after a long day because of it's vibe and mild dark lighting, but still is pretty well lit. It is definitely one of those hole in the wall dive bars that you can't skip. Thanks to Matt for the great service and friendliness. A hidden little gem on Colfax. This bar welcomes everyone as they are and the drinks are great! They do have an outdoor area in the back when it's warm out so you can hang out with your small group of friends. Covid measures are taken seriously here so they do tend to hit the max amount of people allowed fast on the weekends. They also do temp checks prior to seating you. read more

I read about the strong drinks here...decided to come try it out after the watered down drinks at charlies - was hoping for strong drinks like the old compound bar (now closed) or trade bar.. Walked in and hardly anybody was there around 10:30 on friday..tried to talk to the guy next to me who was more into his phone than talking to me...drink was watered down and nothing special..i left within like 15 minutes and went back to charlies. read more

Be sure to keep track of your tab during two-for-one happy hour shift change. I had only ordered one of my cocktails when shift change took place. When I ordered my second, I was charged a second time. The new bartender told me I was charged again because I didn't have a shot glass indicating I had a second drink coming, even though he knew my name and knew that I was running a tab. Such a shame because the evening was quite enjoyable otherwise. I was so caught off guard I ended up leaving him a 50% tip on top of being charged a second time. I'm not gay but I still felt at home in this place. I ended up here 'cause I typed in "dive bar" into Yelp and this was the closest result. I didn't realize it was a gay bar until I walked up to the door with the rainbow flag, which I recognized despite not being gay. I gotta mention, Denver's idea of a dive bar is way different from mine, coming from Arizona. This place was very clean, the bartender was super friendly and they had a lot of really good craft beer in cans & bottles. (Their draft selection was all macro stuff.) Given my experience with AZ dive bars I expected more of all the typical stuff I love: Sports, filthy facilities, chicken wings, a stack of FHM magazines with the hot ladies on the cover....you know, those kinda things. But even though I didn't get any of that stuff I still enjoyed my non-gay self at this awesome place. They were also playing really good music here and I made sure to text all of my super attractive straight girlfriends back home about how fun this bar was. I'm not gay but if I were I would love to have a neighborhood bar like this out here in Arizona. So make sure you stop in to R&R Lounge. Dark and dingy and yet fun and friendly - some places on Colfax are just too cool for school. I had me a blast at this bar while day drinking over the weekend. It was everything I could expect and more. The drinks are strong and cheap - just like they should be. Be aware that there is no tap beer but they have a decent selection of bottled brews. The booze is where it's at. Stiff drinks make the world a happier place. There are a lot of events that happen in this quaint little space. Viewing parties, group parties, sporting events, oh my! I found the people to be quite friendly and open minded. Just a casual bar with people who like to drink. I really enjoyed the juke box and meeting people who were down to drink and sing and dance. Sure it's small and on Colfax but it's totally worth the time to come and hang out. The dart games are abundant, the bathrooms are clean, the service is quick. What more can I say? Tonight we went there for my fiancé birthday and the bartender refused to serve him because he has a paper ID issued by the state because it expires on his birthday! He's 34. I've come to like this place more and more, particularly when I'm in the mood for conversation. Great bartenders. Will on Mon is a riot and entertainer, great guy. Other bartenders are good. Drinks are reasonable and typically strong. The review below saying this is a leather/bear bar is really off base. My one large complaint is their beer selection isn't great. I wish they'd remodel the physical bar itself to allow for draft craft beer and their bottled selection is just fair. Shouldn't be that way in CO. Boyztown has same problem with worse selection, whereas Devil's lounge has a far better selection. read more

Awful, awful experience!! Dont let the colors on the door fool you, brown isnt one of them. I have never felt like a second class citizen before I walked into this bar. I am a small business owner in Park Hill and am truly sad this place exists in my neighborhood. Park Hill is very diverse and being a Native American woman had never been an issue for me. Until NOW! The bartender was rude before I even sat down. He made it clear that I was not welcome. Save yourself some dignity and go to Aqua lounge instead. Im sure the gay community wont judge you there. One of my favorite gay bars by far. Everyone is down to earth and friendly. None of that attitude that you might find at other gay bars. If you're looking to just chill, I would highly recommend this place. Decent priced drink, two dart boards, and they also some other fun activities like a free dart tournament on Sundays, pot lucks, ect. A lot of older and severely drunk gay men make for a not so fun experience. Especially when they start taking your beer right from off the bar. My advice??
