R & J Roofing is the real thing! They are not your 1 to 5 year-old outfits. Randy and Juan have decades of real experience and it shows. These folks replaced my old roof exhaust fans which required pulling up 20-year-old shingles that were still in very good shape and putting them back down seamlessly. They caulked everything well. I was up on the roof with them and they do create a great conversation also! They are punctual, do high-quality professional work in a timely manner, and clean up well. I'm definitely hiring them when my composition Roof needs the full replacement. read more

Randy was really helpful. Him and his crew really took care of me. I actually hired Randy to help me do a patch job on my roof. Randy and the crew worked with my schedule. I like Randy because I felt he was very honest and direct and was ready to answer all my questions too. They sent me before and after photos and I could tell they were very detailed in fixing an area where the plywood was exposed on my roof. Took really good care and did a fantastic job read more

Yes, I recommend this business. They did a great job with the roof repairs -- solid, quality work from start to finish. The crew kept me updated on the progress the entire time, just like I asked, which I really appreciated. Randy was fair with the pricing and straightforward from the beginning. Communication was easy, they showed up on time, and the work was done efficiently. They handle roof repairs, re-roofs, and new construction, and work with all types of roofing materials. If you need roofing work, ask for Randy at (650) 274-3816. I'd definitely recommend them. read more

I called Randy and left a voicemail, and he called me back shortly because we had a leaking furnace pipe from an exposed flashing. He quickly came the next day and sealed it and no more leaks! Randy is responsive and will share pictures of the fix that was done afterwards. Would recommend Randy if you have leak issues! read more

I highly recommend R&J roofing. Randy was fair, honest and professional. He kept me informed on the schedule and the progress of the project. He was on time and in budget. His team is excellent and professional with attention to detail. Randy genuinely cares about people and is aware of how construction interferes with people's day to day lives. He is kind and thoughtful. Don't use anyone else for your roofing needs! read more

Randy and Juan are terrific. They were on time, accurate with their quote and cleaned up pretty well (there were a few roofing nails that we did find around the yard that weren't picked up.) The workers have a great attitude and are very friendly. Would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for a roofer. read more

The crew at R&J roofing were the real deal. They got a quote back to me quicker than any other company and were the best price. They also completed the whole roof in a week which was half the time two other companies estimated. The pride they showed in their work was awesome. I highly recommend this company and would be happy to answer any questions relating to their work. read more

R&J Roofing did such a great job with our spanish-style clay roof. I met with multiple roofers before deciding to select R&J. Similar to other roofing companies I knew they could do the job but what set R&J apart was their competitive pricing, industry knowledge, responsiveness and their ability to communicate well. I had a really good vibe about the Randy and Juan and now that my roof is complete I am beyond thrilled that we chose to go with R&J. Randy was patient and I appreciated how he made suggestions on making small improvements to our roofline. Juan was onsite daily as the PM to lead the crew so we always felt we were in good hands. Juan and crew were super efficient and showed up even when the weather was AWFUL just to stay on their promised timeline. Randy would also swing by to check in on the work almost daily. These guys were amazing. Bravo to the crew at R&J! read more

Randy and his crew did an awesome job on our roof. The guys were great! They left our surroundings with no trace of them being here except for a beautiful new roof! Everything went according to schedule and we are totally satisfied! I would definitely recommend them for your roofing needs. read more

Randy, Carlos and his staff are genuinely nice people They did a great job with very attractive price to repair our skylight. A few months later, I called Randy to put the vent cap back on the roof after a strong wind, which had nothing to do with their original repair work, he even installed it without charge. You only know how nice they are when you compare with other companies. read more

I had a huge leak last year and needed to find a roofing contractor to come look at it. Now I always like to take my time to find the best and most affordable contractor out there (which can be hard). Most roofing contractors were giving Crazy prices just to come to my house and give me estimates! In the end I was refereed to these guys by a friend for their free estimates and many years of experience in roofing. So I called them over they gave me a free estimate, were pleasant, and definitely knew what they were talking about & doing so I hired them. So I have to say "These guys are professionals at what they do". They perform Big Jobs to small jobs..Plus they got some of the best rates out there and work all over the Bay Area. read more

Randy and the rest of the guys are GREAT!!! I contacted him on the recommendation of a friend who works with many remodeling contractors, who said Randy is the best, very trustworthy and did great work. I also consulted with several other roofers who came with high Yelp and other recommendations, and Randy won hands-down. Some of the others had flashier brochures, but didn't follow through on customer service. The guy from Mr. Roofer missed our first appointment, then didn't bring a tall enough ladder to get on the roof the second time even though he said he'd google-mapped the place, and my home is very typical of SF and the area in general. I'm a new homeowner and a big GEEK, so I did lots of research on roofing materials, contractors licenses, bonding/insurance, etc. I work in an area related to environmental protection, and looked into Earth-friendly options. I also wasn't really excited about the prospect of the stinkey, messy hot tar pot that would normally be used to replace my flat, tar and gravel roof. Stray tar globs on my off-white house paint, driveway, yard? No thanks! But Randy's recommendation was a more modern, global-warming-fighting material that actually helps preserve the useful life of the roof. It's this silver goop that reflects solar rays and reduces the daily heating of your roof by the sun, so less flexing and wear on your structure. Plus less heat build-up in your roof/home, so maybe lower AC bills if you live in a warm area. I'm also a little paranoid, so I grilled Randy about the the silver goop, and he was very knowledgeable about the product specifications (which I'd researched - geek!). I live in the Sunset, so was concerned that the ordinary summer mist/dampness might interfere with the curing of the layers of the silver goop. Randy was up to date on the original specs and current manufacturer's recommendations for application. My suspicious little heart went pitter-patter with happiness! Randy is also just a nice person. He's really Christian, but not in a creepy/pushy way; more in the "he wouldn't even think of doing something inappropriate" way. I had a cold one day and he offered to pray for me. I told him I'm a Buddhist and I'm sure that there are others who could use the prayers more than I; and he was very gracious. My co-owner also thought Randy to be of good character. We're both attorneys (public interest, not the rich kind), so we don't generally like/trust people to whom we're about to write checks for thousands of dollars. Randy definitely made a positive impression throughout the process. Also, the tear-off crew deserves special kudos. I don't remember the crew leader's name, but I felt very comfortable having him in my home. He also cleaned up a mess I'd inadvertently made by leaving open the door to my crawlspace, so that the old tar and gravel fell through the roof slats into my laundry room. Totally my fault, but these guys were really gracious and went beyond the call of duty. They totally cleaned up everything every day, and didn't contaminate my co-owner's organic garden in the back yard. In sum: The job was done quicker than they'd estimated. Randy took care of the permits and getting the parking marked off for their trucks. He was always available for questions and as pleasant as could be. All of the workers were gracious/not creepy for a single female to be dealing with. And the price was great! I waited until after we had some rain to do the review, and no leaks/issues. I was too chicken to convince myself to go up onto the roof as I'd originally planned, but I can see the edge flashing from my windows and it looks very tidy and professional. I just can't say enough good about Randy Orta and his gang. read more

Can't rate the service ... I called and left message, but no one bothered to call back.

I called R&J Roofing to get an assessment of our roof, which was described by another roofer as needing immediate replacement or repairs. Randy made big efforts to meet me within a week where others said they would take over a month. He said our roof was good for at least 5 -10 more years. Randy is a good guy and I am confident in his assessment and knowledge. I will definitely work with him in the years to come when the roof actually needs work. Plus he's a super nice guy. read more

Randy is a man of great integrity. He came out to quote the job right away, kept me updated on exactly what would happen when, and did a terrific job. I was a little nervous to use him because his price was so much less than the other quotes but I know a little about roofing and they did a top notch job. When I had an issue later that was unrelated to their work, Randy came right out to take a look and advised me how to correct the problem. Regarding the other yelper's comments about Randy being very Christian, I agree. He makes it clear that he operates his life and his business based on his principles, and it comes through in his positive attitude and work ethic. He is a nice man who genuinely cares about people and does a great job for a good price. I wish i could find more companies and people that operate this way. 5 stars is a rare complement coming from me. read more

Randy and Juan came out like promised and assessed my roof to rule out water infiltration in the rear windows of my home. they were fair, honest and knowledgable. i appreciate solid, trustworthy and hardworking individuals; that's exactly who these two are. i'm going to hold on to their contact info and reconnect with them when i'm in need of a new roof. i highly recommend calling them if you're in need of an experienced and honest roofing contractor! read more

I can't say enough good things about Randy, Juan and their crew. I was referred to R&J by a contractor who was doing work in the neighborhood. Come to find out, Randy did a roof for another neighbor on a prior house and was quoting jobs for a couple other people in the neighborhood. I asked for 3 bids from different contractors and Randy's bid was very reasonable (as far as roof prices go!!!) Randy and Juan were prompt (actually showed up for all appointments and the job on the day and times when they said they would be here!!!), professional, really knew their trade and were helpful in explaining the entire process. They even said I could go another 5 years with my existing roof, proving to me they were not pressuring me to get the job! I felt they were genuine and honest from the beginning. Randy was responsive to any phone call or text, and Juan was on the job throughout the day. Everyone says that redoing a roof is the worst/dirtiest job from start to finish. That wasn't the case with R&J; they cleaned up each day (old shingles, debris and nails), vacuumed and always "warned" me what was coming next. Additionally, the crew was always respectful, pleasant and kind...actually all just nice guys! I would highly recommend Randy and Juan for any roofing projects. read more

Randy really help us to solve our roof problem and did a great job. We had roof leakage because previous gutter contractor step on the roof and break it and we just find out in March when the rain season coming. My wife look at yelp and find Randy. After the call, he show up immediately and check on our whole roof. He is very nice and fix the leakage in a very short time and even more he check all the roof and find another potential issue , he use the retired tile to fix it and save us a lot of money. After he finished his work, he further check the whole roof again to make sure everything goes right without any extra charge. It has been more than 4 months and we ran through the whole raining season without facing any roof problem. I really recommend Randy becuse he is a truely trustable and concerning his customer. read more

Randy and Juan are the best guys, if you want to re roof or have any questions regarding roof. We recently bought the house and our roof seem to be in a bad shape because of which we were not getting any home insurance. When Randy and Juan inspected the roof they found we were having double roof which is quite rare and they told its quite stable, leak proof and recommended not to to anything. They also agreed they can talk to our home insurance company regarding this . These guys saved us a lot of dollars that we were about to spend on something that was not broken. They are so honest and have great experience in this field. . They came this morning and I could not wait to leave a review for them. Thanks so much R&J for your great inspection and recommendation. If you want to save money and want an honest estimate please hire them. read more

My experience with Randy was all positive. Nice guy, quality work, on time, very competitive price, easy to get in contact with. He went above and beyond to help me with a project unrelated to the original scope of work. Would definitely recommend. read more

I was introduced to R & J Roofing from a reference of a friend. I needed to have repairs done on a roof that was leaking and also a skylight that had deteriorated over the years and caused water damage to the bathroom below. I dealt exclusively with Randy, who is a very pleasant and reliable person. He was always on time for his appointments and did the job when he said it would be done. Since the skylight was not of standard dimensions, it had to be special ordered. In the meantime, he and a fellow worker worked and finished repair on the other parts of the roof that needed repair. He even took pictures of the finished work as well as during the repair and emailed them to me. While waiting for the new skylight to come in, it looked like it was going to rain, and the day that I called Randy, he went out and put a tarp to cover the old leaking skylight to prevent any further water damage while it rained. I was very happy about this. After the new skylight came in, he installed it and finished the job perfectly. I will call him in the future if I need any roof work done. Thanks a lot to you Randy! read more
