In late December, we found some extensive roof leaks in our newly purchased home thanks to some crappy repairs done by whoever the previous owner hired. This was extremely stressful to deal with as the weather forecast was showing endless amounts of heavy rain to come. We reached out to several roofers, almost all of whom were scheduling weeks out as we weren't previous customers or were simply swamped with other customers who offered a bigger job (AKA more $$$). Emile was the only one willing to come and help us out. He quickly diagnosed the issue and had guys out on our roof on New Years Day - a SUNDAY! and the only sunny day for weeks - to work on getting things fixed properly. We held our breath through the "storm of the century" and all the subsequent storms of January 2023... and the repairs held up. We could sleep soundly at night knowing we have a sound roof above our heads. We're forever grateful and would highly recommend Above All Roofing Services. read more

These guys did a great job on my new roof! Started and finished when they said they would and NO extra charges!! I like when things workout like that:) read more

Emile and Maia from the Above All Roofing team did me a real solid! It's been 11 years since they replaced my composite roof shingles so figured I'd call them first with what appeared to be a roof leak. Maia did an excellent job coordinating and communicating. Emile came by, checked it out and determined there was a blockage in the gutter, cleared the blockages and then made sure the rest of the roof was in good condition. No charge!! These folks stand by their work and I'd happily use them again! read more

Above All Roofing Services is my go to choice for roofing repairs and they also did an outstanding job waterproofing our deck. Emile is a real professional and has a great eye for detail, and the expertise to get it done right. The suggested materials and results are outstanding. From sheet metal water drainage to the finished Metacrylic coating, the final results are exceptional. I highly recommend the guys from Above All Roofing Services. read more

We are so happy with our roof(s) that were completed by the Above All Roofing Company. (Had both our main house and garage roofs replaced). They are very thorough in their work and have high standards. The owner "Emile" has been in the roofing business for many years and is very knowledgeable. He has specialty certification in the roofing business. The owner and his receptionist "Maia" were very communicative throughout the entire process from the initial estimate to completion. We appreciated this very much as communication is very important. The team who did the tear down and re-roofing were very skilled and efficient. Leonel, the foreman, was very thorough and constantly kept in touch with Emile the owner if there were any questions or additional work to be performed. Unfortunately, we had a significant amount of extra work to be performed due to some damaged areas, so this added to the original estimate, however it was always discussed with us prior, so we knew what to expect. We also had our gutters and downspouts replaced. The team who did the replacement was also very good. They were able to salvage some newer downspouts we had added recently and that eliminated some additional charges. The owner stands by his work and will return for any issues with the roof and its components (roofing paper, shingles, flashing, vents, repairs, etc). Additionally, the company will perform a roof and gutter cleaning within a year or so of the initial roof replacement. My husband and I highly recommend Above All Roofing for your roof replacement or repair. read more

Very poor. No show. No courtesy call back even after the appointment was confirmed by the owner. All they did was waste our time. You cannot trust the high reviews on this roofer. read more

Having my roof replaced by Emile and his crew was the best decision I've made in a long time. The quality is wonderful, awesome attention to detail --it is just a really nice roof! They also replaced my old gutters and added to the roof of my front porch so it isn't rained on any more. The crew was awesome, worked quickly and efficiently and were always nice and courteous. Also the price was much less than other estimates I had gotten for the job. I highly recommend Above All Roofing Services. read more

Emile and his people installed our garage roof that sits above our house. He and all who worked on our roof were very professional. They completed the job before the next rain, so we did not have to worry having to watch for leaks in the rainy time. He charged per our agreement and we are very happy with the new roof. read more

Amazing experience with Above All Roofing Services. Emile is honest and prompt. Called during rain as mold developing in kid's room ceiling. Emile called an employee in and together they came out immediately despite it being Friday late afternoon. Looked everything up and down. Could have charged me an arm and leg. Not Emile, he said the roof is not the problem and explained what was happening and how to manage it. We had pre-agreed on a price for the evaluation. Emile said, no way he would take the money as they did not end up doing much work (he sure did the evaluation though). Lots more rain and NO ISSUES. If I have a leaking rook or need a new roof anytime in the future, I will only call Emile. Got to be the most honest roofer in NorCal. read more

The new roof looks fantastic! We are so glad we decided not only to replace our thirty-year old roof, but that we chose your company to do it! Emile's experience in running the work schedule and having products on site to complete the job in a timely way made the project run smoothly and efficiently. He "walked the roof" every day with his crew and was readily available to answer any of our questions. His employees/work crews were unfailing polite, helpful, talented, seasoned professionals. Each stage-- demo, underlayment, flashing/shingle installation, and gutter/downspout/gutter leaf guard installations--was carefully and meticulously carried out. Clean up at the end of each work day was taken quite seriously. During the whole project Emile and his crew were attentive to each and every detail. Upon final inspection, the county building inspector even commented that it was a "nicely done" roof replacement. Above All Roofing Services made what could have been a messy, unpleasant undertaking into a pleasant, "did-the-right-thing" experience! It was a pleasure to do business with you all. read more

"Winter is coming" and I'm not just talking about Game of Thrones. We really needed to replace a roof on a cherished family home, and got several bids. Our neighbor strongly recommended Above All Roofing so we asked the owner Emile to come and take a look. The estimate was very reasonable - -we took a leap - and boy are we glad we did! Emile and his crew did a phenomenal job - and the roof is superb. They did find dry rot, and some other repair issues - but they quickly repaired them. The office staff was knowledgeable, efficient, and friendly with my questions or concerns - and that makes a big difference when you're swamped and pulled in a million directions. Emile always returned a call or email in a very timely fashion. I am so grateful that our new roof is ready in time for this coming winter: yes "troubled times are ahead" but I feel relieved and our roof is repaired. read more

SHORT REVIEW: CALL HIM! LONG REVIEW: First big rain storm of 2021 and on Saturday at 3-4am, I discovered I had a roof leak! Called Emile based on other positive reviews on Sunday at 9am, not expecting an answer. He did and at 10AM he was at my house diagnosing the issue and fixed by 11ishAM. Turned out minor issue causing it even though leaking water in your house is a major thing. He could have made up any reason but gave honest assessment of a minor issue and what he charged was more than reasonable. I would definitely recommend him and use him again. read more

Above All Roofing Services - Never a good thing having water dripping down from your ceiling! - Roofing Near Me - San Carlos, California

Emile was amazing. I have a small roof leak and when I called multiple other roofing companies my job is too small - they wouldn't even consider talking to me. I sent some pictures to Emile he came over same day and gave me a couple of options. He even did a temporary fix knowing it was going to rain gonna reevaluate things after! I highly recommend his services!!!!! read more

Wow what a great experience! Emile came over to inspect a water problem after the recent storms. He was efficient, respectful, very reasonably priced and just delightful to work with. The inspection was done with a diagnosis that he quickly decided could be done on the spot. No crew, no future appointments, no beefed up bill. It could have easily been drawn out to something more expensive and time consuming. He also pointed out things to pay attention to in the future to avoid costly repairs if they went unnoticed. I really appreciated that bit of advice!! I would highly recommend Emile for any of your roofing concerns. read more

I called Emile to fix some fascia on the roof and to repair some broken shingles damaged by my solar company. Both times, Emile was amazing. He was very responsive (he came to my house within 30 minutes since he was on his way to run an errand and said he could stop by to assess the damage). Emile is friendly, knowledgeable, and honest. He doesn't cut corners and ensures that the work is done right which is important in a roofing company since a compromised roof could lead to very costly repairs in the long run if not done right. Thanks Emile for being so prompt with the work and doing such a great job. read more

This is the second time I have used this company and for good reason. We had a part of a gutter that got clogged which then led to some roof issues. Emile came right over, got up on the roof and figured out what needed to be done. He had it done within the week. Besides the fact that Emile is such a nice guy, more importantly, he is so thorough and knowledgable about his craft which means the job is going to be done right. I would recommend this company "Above All"...ok kind of cheesy but its so true. read more

Emile was quick to respond. Did an inspection and I got the report and quote for repair the next day. When the work was scheduled, Emile and crew got the roofing job done ahead of schedule because they could. They even took care of coordinating a couple of areas of gutter repair as well. They took care of everything, supported with photos, and I didn't have to be there. How easy is that? read more

We were extremely disappointed with Emile, especially after seeing all the glowing Yelp reviews. Perhaps he's good at certain things and it's nice that some people liked him, but our experience was very negative. We had water leaking into our house after recent storms. Called various roofers, Emile responded and said he might be able to come late in the week since all roofers were swamped given all the storms. He would charge $275 for a "comprehensive roof inspection" and then an additional flat fee to fix any small problem. He also said we'd be lucky to get any roofer because of all the storms, but maybe he could fit us by end of week. Yet somehow the next day he was free and showed up with 20 minute notice? He made a point of mentioning again that he made a mistake of answering his phone on the weekend and we were lucky to get him, normally he's at yoga and wouldn't answer (not sure why we care, don't answer if you don't want business?) He views the interior water leak damage then goes on the roof for "comprehensive" inspection which took ~20 minutes. Then comes back and asks for the $275 without telling us anything. Was this a joke? Regardless we didn't pay him until hearing what was the diagnosis. He whips through a bunch of pictures on his phone with a lot of roofer jargon and states that our solar panels are definitely the problem. Quoting report "Poor flashing detail and install for stand-offs from recent solar installation. Flashings are... tucked under one shingle only, which is marginal at best. The result is a short flashing between shingle keyways allowing water entry under flashings. When shingle keyways near any penetration, the shingle must be cut back 10 inches then another shingle added to move shingle keyway at least 5 inches from edge of flashing; at the same time keeping nail pattern 5 inches from keyways. Remove solar panels. Have an experienced technician repair comp shingles and reset flashings as necessary." He offers a temporary repair with felt on the panels closest to the leak for $175. We ask if he'll come back if the fix doesn't work, and he says no it's not worth his time for such low money. Sadly we agreed to this extra gouging because there was rain in the forecast and we didn't want more leaking. The job took him about 15 minutes. We paid him and he said he'd send us the detailed report "later". The final "detailed" report was one paragraph that only mentioned this solar issue, and it didn't arrive until late the next day after texting him multiple times (basically after taking the money he disappeared with no communication for 24+ hours including no response to a text message asking when we could expect the report). He didn't document any other aspects about our roof in this "comprehensive" report, though verbally he'd told us the trim around the chimney was rotting (which we knew) and some small bits of flashing might need screws instead of nails. He also emailed images of the solar flashings pointing at where he believed water was leaking. Now, to document why he was 100% completely wrong. We called our solar company and they responded within 24 hours. Their head tech "J" has 15 years experience as a roofer before going into solar. J explained that it's common for roofers to blame solar. In fact the solar mounts are designed to be smaller than typical flashings. The mount is ESR-2835 certified for waterproofing, and for composition roof is sized to fit in one shingle course (our roof and photo Emile took looks exactly like picture at http://www.quickmountpv.com/technology/qblock.html). This component's brochure + installation diagram was approved/stamped by the city building permit department. The solar company sent a tech on-site within 24 hr for free. Tech read Emile's report and was surprised, said the location of the panel was inconsistent with what we were observing for the water leak. But he re-tightened and sealed everything and said to call again if it kept leaking. After the next leak we called solar company again, after all how could 5-star Emile possibly be wrong after insisting our installation was a disaster? This time the solar tech sprayed the area around the panel with a hose for 10+ minutes at various angles and no water was observed leaking into the house. This is on the 2nd storey so not easily done. The tech then sprayed carefully all around the surrounding area until he found a crack in the wall that was the actual source of the water leak!! So in the end, Emile charged $450 for a completely wrong diagnosis and bad (costly had we followed it) advice to re-install all our solar flashings. For someone whose business is roofing he should educate himself about solar and not be so quick to draw conclusions blaming solar. read more

I worked for above all for a short time.disregard my other review.i would recommend him if someone asked for a roofer.

I had a roof leaking for about 3 years. After calling several roofers who attempted to fix it over the years, none could. I came to Yelp and found Above All Roofing and gave them a call. They came out and looked at the roof and gave me an estimate, which seemed reasonable. I hired them to fix my roof. Fingers crossed that this time would be the last and real fix. They found 3 roofs under the patches and the reason why no one could fix the leak. All the others never found the real problem and all did a half assed job at attempting to fix it. None could figure out why the roof continued to leak. Above All Roofing fixed the roof in a reasonable amount of time and at no inconvenience to me. And they stayed within the original estimate. Afterward I needed the sheet rock in the house repaired which was damaged due to the leak. Again, they came and fixed it very professionally, and painted the hallway... all within budget. Emile L'Hoir, the owner, is kind person who is very easy to work with. You would not go wrong or regret hiring Above All Roofing. read more

Emile is the only roofer of a dozen I called mid-rainstorm who responded promptly and who also came to visit ASAP to inspect a significant roof leak in my home. My home's leak is an ongoing and unfortunately very complicated problem at the nexus of several different roof planes, and Emile was forthcoming about its complexity and honest in his assessment of the situation and the need for additional resources (e.g. a builder/contractor) to be called in to help as well. He also noticed another problem with a downspout and fixed it in the pouring rain at no cost to me. His explanations were thorough, and I recommend him highly, especially for his just-right mix of skill, professionalism, and compassion during a stressful time. Thanks Emile! read more

How often do you get a friendly voice and helpful attitude when you are calling in a rush to get your roof fixed? I called Above All Roofing Services and talked to Emiel because rain water was gushing down the valley of my roof shooting off right into the backyard bypassing the gutter all together. Emiel came right out and saw the problem. He fixed it on the spot and charged me reasonably. While he was on the roof, he also took photos of other issues which he wanted me to monitor. I overall found Emiel extremely helpful and most importantly, honest and very easy to work with. I also had issues with debris cluttering up the drain pipe of my gutter. Emiel right on the spot called up a vendor he knows who can help me with it. Boom, right there I had a cost and solution. When it's time for me to do anything else for the roof, I'd definitely give Above All Roofing a call. You should, too. read more

Above All Roofing came to our rescue! On October 13th there was a huge storm. I was in my sons room making the bed when I noticed water dripping from the ceiling. I frantically started dialing out of the phonebook. Emile at Above All Roofing was the first to answer. He was at our house within an hour and was able to fix the problem as best as he could in the horrible down pour. Above All Roofing returned two days later as planned once the roof dried to fix the issue completely. I didn't have to call and remind him, they just showed up like Emile said they would. Above All Roofing also walked our roof, which is shake, and fixed any other issues they came across at no additional cost. I got lucky finding Above All Roofing. I will definitely be using them again and recommending them to my friends! read more

I have nothing to say but the best things about the service we received from Emile and Above All Roofing Services! We had just moved into our new house and I came home to find that the roof was leaking into our kitchen that was in the process of being remodeled. I found Emile on Yelp and called him right away. He came out the same day and patched the roof for us until we could have the repair done after the storm. The repair and a full roof inspection was done later that month which included descriptions and pictures to what was wrong with the roof. We are going back to the sellers in hopes of recouping some of our loss and the report will certainly help. I would recommend their services to anyone! read more

There's a reason why this Emile, Pam, and his team get predominantly 5 stars! There are some people you work with on a project in your home and those that you continue to have as your go-to team. Emile and Above all Roofing is our go-to team. They did a great job on our roof over 2 years ago now. After bidding out our roofing job, we chose Emile for his comparable price, quality of work, and details that were required on our roof. We never looked back - they did a great job, even with some of the issues that came up as a result of our older roof. Fast forward 2 years, we had a leak last year on a separate tar and gravel roof. Emile came out, did a quick inspection and patched up problem. This year, after the "storm of the decade" as the media called it, our old tar and gravel had some other issues. Again, despite the long line of people with leaks and issues after the storm, Emile came out right away first to assess the issue and the second on a Saturday to do the patch work. Again, this is the kind of company that will be your go to as they prove themselves over and over again with quality of work, response, and overall care for the families they help. 5 star - AGAIN! read more

What in the WORLD could I possibly say? Emilie is a gem of a human and he really knows his stuff! I had a small roof problem causing a leak last winter. I had contacted a well-regarded local contractor during the dry season (July/August) who diagnosed the problem and vowed to return to make a quick fix. Despite repeated calls to the office (four), no show. Another rain season comes up and the leak comes back. Typical bad contractor customer service. I swear they take courses in how to infuriate customers. Based on Yelp reviews, I called Above All. Emil returned my call the first thing next morning and stopped by before 11:00AM. They quickly diagnosed the problem and were finished within 10 minutes. In keeping with Holiday spirit, no charge. Jeez, that was easy. read more

After a branch broke off my redwood tree and made a hole in my roof, I called a few roofers to schedule an estimate for a repair. Most roofers told me it would take several days for someone to come out and give me an estimate, but Emile took my address and went to my house on the same day (in the rain) to take a look at the damage. While he was there he replaced my temporary plastic tarp with a much better felt cover to prevent any rain leaks until he would come our a few days later to make a permanent repair. He even cleaned some of my gutters while he was up there. He returned with his crew to do a final repair a few days later and charged a fair price for his work. I would definitely use Emile again if I need any roofing work. read more

Emile communicates really well--very descriptive in explaining the work he would do on our roof, fast to respond when I had questions, and gave me a quick fix option for a leaky roof as a cheaper temporary solution. So I knew Emile many years ago but had lost touch over the years. He had put a beautiful new roof on my parents house in Hillsborough at least 15 years ago that is still beautiful and looks like the day it was new. With the huge winds we had last night in the Bay Area (02,21,23) a whole bunch of my roof tore off. We could hear it tearing off and flying across the yard at midnight. I was extremely worried because rain is forecast for tomorrow and my roof has a very steep pitch besides it being a very high two story. Well I filled out the info thing online and before long was in touch with Emile on the phone. He came right out with his easy going manner and his crew and assured me " don't worry, I can have this handled for you". Well I just got home from work and my roof looks fantastic! I can not put down in words how relieved and de-stressed I am. What a great guy besides being a great roof installer. In my opinion, it would be foolish to not have Emile handle roof problems or a new roof. When I need my roof replaced I know who I'm calling! read more

Emile and i worked together in the past , I've known Emile for over 30 years , we worked together before he started Above All ,and I've worked for him as well , it was difficult to work for him and with him at times , because he is a perfectionist, wants his roof applications flawless ,not to leak and actually last longer than the actual gaurontee , and he will have only qualified roofers work on his jobs with years of experience , like myself , 37 years ,so I know first hand quality because I am a roofer .. read more

This company is as good as it gets! I called the week before Christmas after all the heavy rain. While I was not expecting to hear back right away Emile returned my call with in five minutes he also said he would try to get here the next day but was pretty booked. He did not make it the next day but with no prompting he called again on the next business day. We set up a time to come take a look at what I thought was a leak in the roof. He not only showed up on time but called before hand. When he arrived he discovered that it was not the roof but a chimney stack so he gave me the name and number of someone he thought could fix the problem. BUT WAIT it gets better! While he was on the roof he helped me to clean the gutters! Really can you ask for more than that? Would definitely be my first call for a roof job. read more

I was not disappointed. He's a highly experienced professional and a very decent person. read more

I called this company based on the good reviews here and would like to share my experience and advise caution when dealing with them. I have a small unconventional job which involves a corrugated roof on a garden room. Emile showed up on time with a smile and indeed is a charming fellow. He showed interest not only in helping me find a solution that would not involve replacing the entire room, but also in my home and collections. In fact we talked about many things and spent more time on that than actually discussing the details of the job. He said several times that he was going to take care of me and indicated he wanted to do the job. We ended with him promising an estimate by the end of the week for replacing the roof support beams and new "modified roof" which I learned later is an asphalt and rubber material. Well, the week ended and the following week I called him and he said he was too busy, but would get back to me in the next couple of days, which he did. His estimate was over $12,000, which about knocked me off my feet when he told me! While I did not tell him, I had the entire house re-roofed including new plywood, high-end "Presidential" shingles, new gutters, and insulation for less than that! When I told him that that price was way over my budget limit, he said he could do "much better" if he figured it "time and materials". While I was leery of this from prior experiences, I asked him to rework it and let me know the bottom line cost, which he said he would do. Needless to say that was over two weeks ago and he never bothered to follow up. I don't know about you, but any contractor that does not follow up and is evasive and overpriced in initial discussions, is not one I would want to have doing my projects. read more

Emile was able to come out on the same day I called to inspect my roof for a leak. Thorough, took photos, got up on my roof in the rain and gave me suggestions for what needed to be done, not necessarily just selling me the most expensive product (full new roof, which I am well aware I need at this point). I would recommend Above All Roofing services for your roofing estimate or repair. read more

We had a leak which became very apparent with the copious amounts of rain. We called Above All Roofing in San Carlos. They came the next day, calling first to let me know they were on their way so I could leave work and meet them. Then they arrived when they said they would. Emile, the owner took a look at the problem and fixed it at a very reasonable cost. I would highly recommend his company. Emile was friendly, professional and efficient. read more

When it comes to roof repairs, you're looking for three things: a good job, a good price; and a good experience. Emile and his team deliver on all three. I appreciated the expertise Emile brought to the job by conducting a thorough walk through (complete with digital photos) and careful explanation of what he would do. It was also refreshing to see that Emile just doesn't quote the work -- he does it as well. Emile and Ariel were very professional and met our needs at a reasonable and fair price. While I'm not looking forward to the next time I need roofing services, I know who I'll call when that happens. read more

Above All Roofing Services is appropriately named. This company is definitely "above it all" in quality and customer service. I got two other estimates, one ridiculously low and the other a tad higher than Emile's at Above All Roofing Services. But I chose this company for several reasons in addition to the fact that I knew the job was reasonably priced: (1) Emile provided a clear description of what was needed and why the old roof was in such terrible shape (lack of venting). (2) When he asked where I lived, he said that replacing the roofs on an apartment complex down the road from my home had been his "bread and butter" for five years. (3) I knew his great sense of humor would help see me, usually a panicky person, through the process. The end result was a beautiful new roof that we are confident will protect us from leaky ceilings this winter and long after we are gone. One important point is that Emile often joins his employees at work, though he also has to provide estimates to other potential customers and take care of bureaucratic matters. He personally inspects all work. From my dealings with him, it's obvious to me that he would never ask his employees to do something he wouldn't do himself. My sense is that his employees like him and trust him, and he respects them and treats them well, too. Above All Roofing Services is a very well managed company. Although it's been a busy season with everyone very nervous about the upcoming El Niño, Emile managed to squeeze our house into his schedule just before starting a big job that had been delayed. We were very lucky. Call him soon if you need a new roof. read more
