We saw someone lurking in the back, called out to the employee, but no response. We just ended up ordering at the kiosk and eventually someone came to make our order. We ordered the Jasmine Green Milk Tea and the Rose Oolong Milk Tea, both with boba. The boba tasted stale, the tea was severely bitter. We barely had any boba in our drinks! Friendly service, social distancing, and good quality drinks! R&B Tea just took over the Zero X next to the Lee's Sandwiches. I came in for their soft opening and there was 50% all drinks! They also have BOGO FREE for their Grand Opening this weekend. I ordered the Taro Stormy, Matcha Stormy, Hawaiian Green Tea, Kumquat Lemon Green Tea, and a Rose Oolong Milk Tea. The Stormy drinks were alright. The cheese foam inside is not super strong, so they tasted more like Matcha or Taro milk teas. The Kumquat Lemon and Hawaiian Green Tea were very refreshing! If you need a thirst quencher, these drinks are perfect. The Hawaiian Green Tea also comes in a HUGE CUP! The best drink and my FAVORITE was definitely the Rose Oolong Milk Tea. I am very picky about the tea quality of oolong... and R&B Tea hit it right on the head! The tea quality is PERFECT! Went during the soft opening for 50% off all drinks . Staff was really friendly but drinks came out inconsistent despite the wait. We ordered all the drinks with half ice and yet the Rose Oolong milk tea basically was only 2/3 filled compared to the other drinks. Kinda disappointing and embarrassing when I got home and handed it to my sister. Even though the drinks were half off, we still felt a bit robbed. Taste wise, boba is firm but chewy and fairly sweet. I would like to leave a five star review because this place used to have awesome boba and drinks, but recently the quality has gone way down. I'm not sure if this is a reflection in a change of staff or ownership, but the quality and ordering process have completely changed. Drink quality: Let's start off with drink "qualtea" , since that's most important for a tea and boba shop. I ordered a jasmine green tea with boba. I received a cup half full of tea and boba, and half pure ice (see picture). This would've been fine if the sweetness and concentration of the tea was strong enough to compensate for the excessive amount of frozen water, but it wasn't. The sweetness was pretty much zero other than what sugar remained on the boba itself. The tea was concentrated, with pure jasmine flavor which was too overpowering. On top of this, the boba was not fresh and was all clumped together. This drink was a -3/10, it was pure sadness to drink. The service: This location used to use Clover (a payment system) and offered a digital stamp card through them. After purchasing 10 drinks you would be awarded a free one, just like physical stamp cards that many other tea shops offer as a reward program. To my best knowledge they also used to offer cash as a payment option and you could order with a barista (as opposed to only by kiosk). They've recently switched to using Snackpass Kiosk as the only order option, and cc or tap to pay as the only payment option. I'm not sure about the reward system as I have yet to use it, but this was a big letdown as I've been coming here since early November and had almost reached 10 stamps on my digital stamp card to receive a free drink, as well as not allowing cash payment. I had my heart set on getting a Taro Milk tea which had been my favorite drink from here, but when I went to order on the kiosk this wasn't an option, and the Taro Stormy drink was the only taro drink available. I looked at the overhead menu and the Taro Milk tea was still listed under their Milk teas. I asked the baristas if they were out of their taro milk tea, and they responded confused asking each other if they were out of the base, I never got a definite answer but they discussed among themselves and seemed to think it had been discontinued (which makes no sense unless this uses a different base than the taro stormy drink). I changed my order to a jasmine green tea with boba and waited. They called my number but the tea on the counter was the milk tea version, I explained this to the staff and they quickly remade the drink to what I had ordered, no issues here. This would have been completely fine if the drink quantity had been decent, and not as mentioned above^. TLDR: Overall I'm very sad to see the tea and boba quality go way down, as well as the ordering process. Love their brown sugar milk tea. Their boba is always fresh. I leave my house just to go get boba from this place. I love their happy hour special M-W. Their system is automated so you can just order and wait. I have also tried their stormy drinks but prefer the milk tea from what I have tried. Entrance from the back has really pretty real orchid flowers. And the chairs are velvet and white. I ordered a matcha milk tea with 70% sweetness, however this drink has absolutely no sugar in it. It's completely bitter I think they forgot to add it. My drink wasn't completely sealed it and it spilled over my work shirt. Perfect 100° weather for a cool refreshing drink. Luckily we happen to be nearby and stopped for my favorite citrusy green tea. I decided on the Hawaiian which had fresh watermelon pieces, oranges slices & lemon slices. For the name Hawaiian I was expected more of tropical fruits such as papaya or pineapple but still I was very pleased with the flavor and the quality of the green tea. Second time here and this time I wanted to try their fruit tea so I got their Hawaiian fruit green tea with grass jelly. . First of all I was surprised to get it in a large cup. But I love that it had large chunks of fresh fruits in it. They were definitely not stingy. Been increasingly frustrated with this place since the change in management. My fiancé and I usually order the Jasmine green milk tea. However, during my last 3 visits since the change I management: 1) Milk tea tasted worse and they don't give you much popcorn chicken (about $1/piece) 2) I spoke with the worker about the Snackpass points, yet she failed to mention that you don't get points if the worker takes your order 3) Came before drink happy hour, where the worker said I could use both my free drink and the 50% bonus together. Come back an hour later and it doesn't work and she didn't know how to do it. The new decorations look great and seems like a nice place to study. I really like the drinks I've tried so far, which are the taro stormy and matcha stormy. It's very creamy and the cheese really enhances the flavors. I've tried the food combo (drink + fries + popcorn chicken). The popcorn chicken isn't too bad, but the fries is probably going to divide people as it isn't crispy (it's quite soft and not cooked long... similar to In-N-out's fries but shorter). My favorite is the taro stormy. I've tried their popcorn chicken and fries too, and those are really good too! It comes with a side of ranch and sweet & sour sauces. The food tasted fresh and the fries didn't taste like they were frozen like those from other fast food restaurants.
