    Awesome sign!

This is my must go to spot on Kaua'i. Hanalei is awesome already, but this shop is meaningful to me, as it is connected with da man, Titus Kinimaka! I love the Kai Kane meaning, as it is perfect for Titus Kinimaka, the waterman. The staff are friendly and the shop is beautifully set up with artifacts from over the years. I wish they would carry Kaua'i Boys clothing again and keep it there constantly, plus stickers too.

Hanalei hydroflask, 2 shirts and cool hat... brim like no other.

Stopped by after a day of swimming at Hanalei Bay. Super organized store, easy to find what you need. Kids shop in like 5 minutes but they always manage to find what they need. Love the vibe of this town, walk down the street in your slippers and you have no worries. Kid needed a new Hydroflask and this one had a logo, Hanalei, and the islands etched out in silver. Um, don't know if this will make it to his backpack, should've gotten 2!

    Outside of brochure.

Thanks Chuck! I got one of Titus Kinimaka's Hawaiian School of Surfing brochures when we first got to Kauai. The brochure showed a strong Hawaiian man with wild long hair and a determined look on his face. This is who I thought would be teaching me. Nope. It wasn't Titus. It was Chuck who taught me how to surf. Nothing against Chuck - he was great, but, he wasn't the guy in the brochure. Surprise! Advertising got me to the school. And, I learned how to surf! I guess I can let go the expectation that Titus himself would be teaching me. The surf lesson was 1-1/2 hours long. About 10-15 minutes on the beach learning the basics of paddling and popping up on the board. The rest of the time was in the water. Chuck helped me and two other newbies learn how to catch a wave and ride it all the way in. It was amazing! I had a few great runs and a few epic wipeouts. But I did it! We all did it! And they say if they can't teach you how to surf, they will refund your money. So head out to Quicksilver and learn how to surf! It was well worth it.

Here's my boys rocking their hanalei quicksilver gear! Always a stop for us when we visit.

Love this store! Been shopping here for my kids for 10 years, come to Kauai twice a year and always drop some cash in here. The locals are super friendly to us visitors so we support their business! It is a must stop if you visit Kauai, cool vibes and awesome gear! See you in May guys!

Especially around this time of year when all the bronzed babes who have detoxed, cardio'd, squatted and prepared for this season are hitting the beach in all their gorgeous glory, and I'm just here still enjoying my pizza, pasta, etc etc. So here I was in Kaua'i with an ill-fitting bathing suit, experiencing the lovely 80-degree temps and 99% humidity and regretting every slice of pizza I've ever eaten. Regardless of my shape or size, I decided I needed to just splash out for a new suit and roll with it (because a good tan makes everyone look better, right?) We stumbled upon Bikini808 shop in Hanalei and my husband was the one to convince me to go inside and check it out. The shopkeeper was lovely and tried to get a good idea of what I was looking for (a muumuu was apparently out of the question), and selected a bunch of different styles, patterns and fits for me to try. The shop itself is teeny tiny, and the fitting room was equally small and blazing hot. I hated everything I tried on that day. Not because they weren't awesome pieces, I just couldn't like them on me. So we left as I dropped the typical, "We might be back, just have to think about it..." Well, I did think about it, overnight. The next day I was feeling more inspired and told my ever-so-patient husband I wanted to go back. Upon our arrival the shopkeeper just smiled at me and said, "I had a feeling you'd be back!" She again hand-selected pieces for me and I tried them all on. That day was a little less hot and I was feeling better about the bikinis I tried on. I eventually chose two(!) bottoms that cover a whole lot less butt than I'm used to, but my bikini fairy assured me that I'd love them even more with a tan (P.S. she was right). I also got a cool top that isn't a halter which I absolutely adore. If you're on Kaua'i and in need of a bikini, I highly recommend you at least start your search here!

This happened to be our last stop and not only was Lucia really nice, she asked my GF what style she liked, what kind of fits she prefers and then started pulling bikinis for her to try on. She even managed to find the last matching top for one of the bottoms she pulled and it happened to be the one my GF liked the best, and the one she bought! Lucia's customer service is outstanding. She even chatted me up whilst my GF was trying on bikinis, to keep me from getting bored in between suits. If I needed a bikini, I'd get one here (I'm a dude, so I don't) because of the great customer service Lucia provides.

Do not come here for surfboard rentals. Here are three reasons why:…read more 1. **Higher Prices**: This is not the cheapest place to rent surfboards. My family and I initially wanted to rent from a different shop, but they close early in the afternoon. So, we ended up at Backdoor Surf instead. I recommend going to Hanalei Surfboard Rentals instead; it's cheaper, and they offer both half-day and full-day options. You can check them out at [Hanalei Surfboard Rentals](https://hanaleisurfboardrentals.com/). I'm not affiliated with them; I just had a really good experience, and they loaded the boards onto our car quickly. 2. **Long Wait Times and Attitude**: At Backdoor Surf, they spend a long time inspecting the boards and handling paperwork, but that's not the worst part. One of the store associates, David, was quite rude while loading the boards onto our car. My mother asked me to watch him so I could learn how to put the boards back on the car rack when we returned. I told her I already knew how to do it, and David interjected, "Then why don't you do it?" He had a poor attitude while loading the boards, despite us paying over $80 for two surfboards and one paddleboard. Another associate, Kira, told us that David would load the boards and he still gave us an attitude, and it took him about 20-30 minutes to do it. 3. **Poor Customer Service**: Kira started rambling about her personal problems during our visit, while David provided terrible service and only acted friendly when we returned the boards. **Summary**: Choose another rental place if you prefer to be treated professionally by those you are paying and if you value timely service.
