Garbage swept into the floor (ceiling of the level below)

When I originally chose this company, it was because of a 5 star rating. Had I waited to see the first 1-star, I might have thought again. As with the response to one of the poor ratings, the owner will blame any issue they have on you. Originally, I thought the owner seemed like a pretty nice guy. And the foreman, an even nicer guy. I realize now that is just part of making the sale. It's hard to get me to leave bad reviews but they managed to get it out of me. I chose them because the prices were reasonable and I assumed they cared about their yelp ratings. This turned out not to be the case. Job #1 We did two projects. The first was a demo. I made a garage available to have all the garbage go out together. They were to have a garbage man come on the last day to remove the rubbish. Despite discussing this, the owner pushed for a dumpster. I refused and stuck to the agreement. During the demo, I realized that one of my cameras stopped working. I called the company and explained. The owner first tried to convince me that it might have went out for some other reason. After double checking the time it went out and him asking his foreman, we learned that the cable had been cut. After realizing that it would cost more to fix it, he agreed deduct the cost of a new one from the balance I owed. I ordered and installed it myself but I wasn't upset about that... Oh and they used my tools and finished my roll of contractor bags without warning. They purchased new bags though and left my tools. Job #2 I tried them again for the rebuild project and was originally told that I needed 17 out of 26 beams replaced. When I finally got the beams (which was a headache in itself) I was told that I actually needed 26 beams. After more months of waiting for the proper size, I finally got the guys back. Then I learned I needed to place a special order to affix the beams. Carlos kept insisting on taking a structural shortcut but I refused. I asked that he order the proper supplies and add them to the balance as discussed. Days later I get a call from the supply company asking me if I want to order the supplies. I had just told him to order them days before! He tried again to convince me to take the shortcut again when I told him he was supposed to place the order. Days later, he still hadn't ordered the supplies. After about a month of checking with him, he told me the supplies were in. He basically told me he could only work weekends, which I had explained from the first job, wasn't going to happen. He continued to ask to work weekends. I continued to refuse. It was still warm when we started, so the fact that they disconnected the chimney ducts, wasn't terrible. Within a few weeks, it was cold! I asked that they come back to at least fix the ducts but he assured me he was too busy. A month after saying the parts were in, he finally came back. But before doing so, he asked for the remaining balance. Had I been that naive, I would've been even more upset when he decided to take another job, pausing mine for a few more days because I don't want anyone working on weekends. During this job he once again started to try to force the idea of using a dumpster, although we agreed not to. I finally broke. Luckily the foreman talked him out of it. I tried to allow them to do what they are supposed to be good at without micromanaging... big mistake. At the end, I started to see the shortcuts that were being taken... Large gaps between the bricks, gaps between the beams, garbage hidden, they even left my electric panels propped up, instead of securing and didn't fix the vents. I addressed these things as the crew were walking out. The foreman secured the panels, used my shims and some scrap wood to fill some of the gaps (I learned of more later but they claimed it is properly installed). They cleaned some more of the garbage up (after they left I found another place debris was swept and left). They left most of the brick gaps though. One of the main tools they needed, they did not bring. They won't get it either, instead they'll bootleg a way to get it done. Luckily I have some tools. They finished my garbage bags again. This time, nobody purchased another roll. They also over ordered the supplies, most of which they said they could not return. So I'm stuck with hundreds of dollars worth of useless construction supplies. To make everything worse, as I prepare for the next phase, I realized that they didn't follow the floor plans correctly. Almost two feet of my important active space has been cut off. If they weren't coming back for the garbage they left, there's no way they are coming back to correct a major mistake.

From the initial…read moreconsultation with Founder Merisa Fink, all the way through completion, the communication was superb. KitReno does many things well and offers great value. A few of my favorite things of the KitReno promise were (1) they assigned a dedicated project manager to help guide the project from start to finish, (2) they hired the contractors and work out all things directly with them to take the burden off the homeowner, (3) they provided a very detailed floor plan of the remodel to guide the contractor, (4) most importantly they were always willing to listen and provide valuable feedback. Thank you to my project managers Deirdre Boyd and DJ Fiedler. Because of them, KitReno gained a satisfied customer and referrals for the future.

I've never had an easier experience or better outcome then I have using Kit Renovation (KitReno) for my primary bathroom remodel. It's tempting to be that person who wants to control and customize every aspect of a home project but that's where the genius of KitReno's predesigned gorgeous bathrooms come in. I don't have to spend hours picking and choosing among the latest trends, KitReno already has, and they coordinated a group of fabulous looking bathrooms for me to choose from. These designs add value to your home without over designing and making your space to "niche" or a hard-sell if and when that time comes. Picking out my new bathroom was as easy as going to the eye doctor! "Better option 1? Or option 2?" And of course there's plenty of room to customize and apply the design to your specific space from there during your consultation, but all the "heavy lifting" has been done for you. During your consultation you will address all specific needs you may have, what the current space is like, your financing options, and current lead times and future contacts should you be moving forward. The big question is always money, and KitReno was truly worth every single cent! I spent no time coordinating a calendar of materials or contractors, no exorbitant design fees , no paying for shipping or other ancillaries, they handled it all in one lump sum. I had priced my project several times over a few years and kitreno came in squarely in the middle price wise for a much more extensive, high end looking finished product than I would have gotten based on other quotes. To call their pricing a "bargain" might be accurate, but it is slanderously unchic. Shop around and you will see KitReno offers the best possible value for your remodeling budget. During my remodel I was never afraid to ask a question and never felt intimidated when reaching out. Once my specifications were noted, my financing initiated and date set all I had to do was wait for my new bathroom to be complete under expert execution of my assigned design coordinator, Deirdre. Materials arrived on time, contractors and installers promptly showed up with clear instructions and got to work immediately every day. Again all I did was wait until my beautiful new bathroom was finished on time and with impeccable detail! CEO, Merisa has truly found the right way to remodel for today's homeowner with KitReno! I do believe it won't be long before this company can address every room in the home from bathroom to basement using their brilliant business model!

I worked out the plans at the Ikeea Design Studio on March 18th -- I was the last customer seen and literally they shut the place down for three months after I waled out the door (and took the subway home). Over the next few months I watched a gazillion YouTube videos thinking I could do a lot of the projects myself. I was wrong. Then I cooked up some schemes to honor my building's stingent requirements but still keep the reno moving forward, like detaching all my cabinet doors and driving them over to the painter to spray in his building basement. What a mess. By the time Ikea opened up again and the shipping backlogs eased I had learned my lesson -- and signed up for Ikea's contruction services for the installation. They assigned Turn Key. This team's work was the only part of the reno that came off without a hitch. I was completely bowled over when Lance contacted me the day before the installation to ask if he could send his carpenter up to check out the space and figure the out the logistics. This meant when the team arrived the next morning, they were all ready to go at it. And go at it they did. They worked swiftly, cleanly and without incident. I was here the entire time, and they never took a break until they were done -- earlier than projected, at which point they cleaned up and left me with my new kitchen. If I could give TurnKey six stars, I would.
