My townhouse had a leaky roof which was installed a few years ago, poorly, by unscrupulous roofers, using cheap materials. The problem was exacerbated by the heavy snowfall in early 2026. Larry came to take a look at it after I had cleared the snow off. I inquired about the cost and reliability of putting a new layer on vs. removing everything and starting from scratch. After giving me estimates for both, advising me that removing everything would probably include costly asbestos removal, and that the roof could handle another layer fine, I opted for the latter and signed a contract. Later in the year, when the weather was appropriate, Verrazano Roofing came by and installed a new multi-ply rubber-asphalt roof. The job took 6-7 hours for 800 square feet, and not because it was rushed, but because they were experienced. I'm not a roofer, but in the course of personally patching my old roof multiple times I've learned to spot what looks like good vs. shoddy work, and they did good work. They were very detail oriented and replaced the old cracking sealant on two old skylights I still had in service. There was a day of heavy rain a couple of days after the new roof was installed, and there was no water penetration, as verified by a thermal camera. I also had two decommissioned skylights which were already blocked off from the inside. They offered to take them out for free so that they wouldn't be a leakage liability. I took them up on it and voluntarily paid them a bit extra for it at the end. read more

My ~20-year-old roof was sagging in the rear of the building and had a small leak in the front. The previous roof was clearly not installed by a professional (the openings were not properly flashed and there were no curbs beneath the skylights causing them to sit flush with the existing roof layer). I had been patching the problem areas myself for the last 10 years to keep it going. It was in good shape in the flat areas, well-draining areas, since a reflective coating was applied many years ago, but the joints and roof openings required annual observation/repair. Since it had many layers from the past (current code requires a limit of two layers, before a full tear-off is needed), was leaking, and noticeably sagging in the rear of the building due to some structural issue, I decided to do a full tear-off and replacement. It was difficult to find a company that did not want to just add another layer, but after talking to many contractors, I obtained 4 quotes for a full tear-off and rebuild. Verrazano's quote was near the lower end of the batch. I was impressed with the fact that during the initial visit, they were the only contractor that did not suggest a new layer. He suggested either an inexpensive spot repair to keep the existing roof going, or a full tear-off and rebuild to address the previous improper installation and the sagging section, which he said was likely due to a broken joist (a common problem in flat roofs on older homes). Two weeks later, they showed up on time (8 am), as planned, and completely removed the old layers and installed foam board insulation and the underlayer in one day. All debris was sent down a conveyor attached to the front of the house. I had concerns about debris removal since during recent roof tear-offs on my block I've seen debris either thrown off the roof into the courtyard below, or carried through the house. I found neither of those options acceptable for my work. On the second day, they added the final roof layer, re-installed two existing skylights, removed a sagging rear fascia and replaced it with a new gutter, properly flashed all openings and completely cleaned up. All of the workers were respectful and professional. I wouldn't hesitate to refer them for any job, large or small. read more

Called. Talked to Larry. Told him I chose Verrazano for its 5 star rating and that I had a leak coming through my window lights when it rains. He said he could come "sometime" in the afternoon. I told him I had to leave at 4:00pm. He said he'd call...."maybe" tomorrow. Needless to say, he never called. I think all his 5 star ratings were written by his family and friends. Very disappointing. read more

We recently had our roof installed by Verrazano and are very pleased. We chose them out of four quotes (they weren't the lowest or highest bidder) because of the customer service. Larry made it clear out needs were first. He explained the issue and the scope of work in detail and provided before and after pictures. Time will tell us how well the work was done, but we are confident they will address any concerns that arise. read more

Cons: Getting in touch and communicating was a definite challenge. No response to requests made from their web site, haphazard responses trying to make an initial appointment. Pros: incredibly fast and good work! They threw a large crew and amount of equipment at the job and finished an entire demo and new roof in 2 days! It's been several months and no leaks or overrun to the side of the house, which was a constant problem before. read more

Recently used Verrazano Roofing to replace a roof on our brownstone and I couldn't recommend them enough. Larry and his team were great! Great professionalism, super nice, worked fast & efficient, great prices, very communicative, and all was very smooth. Definitely go with Verrazano Roofing read more

FANTASTIC. The quality of work is super solid. The response time is respectful and fast. The price is fair and what it should be. But most of all, this company acts with integrity and respect. Jerry was acutely aware that he wasn't fixing my house, he was fixing my home. As is often the case, once the physical layers of a project start peeling away, the depth of what needs fixing is exposed. Verrazano never took this as an opportunity to alter the scope. Like true porofessionals, they took everything in stride and finished the job with calm craftsmanship and care. I ALWAYS felt like I was in good hands. They go the extra mile and do the job right. I couldn't recommend a company more. A+++ read more

These gentlemen are outstanding. They are polite and really care. They did some emergency work on my roof before it snowed and their work looks terrific. I highly highly recommend. There are a lot of scammers out there. Be careful. This company is not one of them. They are old-school. They take pride in their work. Prices are also reasonable (roofs are always expensive). read more

I would highly recommend this company for any roofing needs. Larry sent a crew of 5 workers to replace the original roof slates from 1940. From slate removal to installing of the Timberline HD shingles, the team lead by Elion were professional, detail oriented, neat and cleaned up all the debris when completed. Total project was done as promised in 1day and the $$ cost out- weighed what I got from other companies. Great team they have ! read more

I can't recommend Verrazano enough! As another reviewer said "I felt confident trusting Larry and Verrazano from the first meeting to the end of the project"! I would describe Larry as trustworthy, professional and genuinely dedicated to integrity, quality and customer care.  Larry answered my initial call and made scheduling and communication easy and clear. When he came by to survey my existing roof he explained in detail what they would do and how they would approach the job. Larry was so thorough and answered all of my questions and concerns.  There were various complications to the job, but Larry was confident they could handle the obstacles and he made it clear that I could rely on them to do the best job, which they certainly did!  The day the work began, the crew showed up early to start. Elion and his team quickly discovered that my existing roof was in worse shape than expected, Larry came back to me with a revised quote to do the much more involved roof replacement. He was incredibly fair even though the scope of the work had changed significantly. He reassured me that they could take care of the situation and said it would only take a couple days longer. Elion and the entire crew worked tirelessly and impeccably for days to finish the job.  I can't say enough about my experience working with Verrazano and Larry. The peace of mind I had during the process, and have going forward, is truly priceless. I would recommend them to anyone looking to have work done. read more

My roof had been leaking for a very long time, and I mean very long time - years. Other roofers came but I was not sure about them. Not a single one saw anything wrong with the roof. At last I called Verrazano Roofing and Mr. Larry came to give me an estimate. He saw what was wrong. It was during winter of 2020 but it was mild and he told me it could be done. He came with a large crew of employees who were respectful and did the work in a very neat way. Even the hatch was fixed without my asking. They brought two pieces of wood, raised the hatch, put roof material around it and even installed the two locks I had there before. Not that the hatch is more important than the roof but it is important too. They also sealed around the two new skylights which he did not install because I did not know Mr. Larry and his crew were so good at what they do, or I would have bought them from him. The roof was guaranteed for ten years against natural leaks. I think and hope the roof will outlive me. I wish I had money to call Mr. Larry again for other work unrelated to the new, beautiful, kosher roof. Highly recommended. read more

There are times when you wish you could give 6 stars. I can't say enough great things about my experience with Verrazano and Larry. My roof has been leaking for the past few months. I contacted several companies, received conflicting diagnostics and crazy prices. I decided to do some research and sent a few messages to companies on yelp. Larry got back to me within minutes. Great start! he came the next day to take a look at the roof and emailed me a professional proposal. I asked him several questions and changed my mind about what I wanted to do with my roof, yet he remained courteous and responsive. We scheduled work the next day, which was completed on time with no issues. Quality work for a great price! In a city where good contractors and roofer are like a needle in a hay stack, Verrazano Roofing is the company to work with! ( Especially Larry!) read more

My roof started leaking and Larry was able to come out the next day to take a look! I have an extremely old house and we suspected the time had come for a new roof, and we were right. Larry gave me a fair quote and was able to schedule the repair for as soon as the materials came in and the cold snap we had warmed up a little (he explained that he prefers to replace the roof when rid above freezing). The crew was courteous and worked quickly - they replaced and leveled out my roof in 2 days. They left my stoop and sidewalk spotless and you wouldn't have known there was major work going on before. Would definitely recommend - nicest crew and easy to work with. read more

I decided to go with Verrazano after we went through a few bids. Larry was quick to response, provided us a detail proposal and easy to communicate. He even came back a second time to speak to me since I was not present the first time he came and met with my husband. His company offers longer warranty than a typical roofing job too. 15 years! Had a flat roof with a small roof leak and some water ponding. Larry and his team did an amazing job. I noticed my gutters were in pretty bad shape and after almost every storm, it was parting further from the house. Also, I would notice a few pieces of shingles in the driveway every now and then after some rain. I decided to call someone to take a look and get an estimate. My neighbor recently had a roof repair done after strong winds knocked a piece of his frame off and recommended Larry and Verrazano Restorations. He said they were fast and efficient. I called Larry and the same day, he came by to take a look. Keep in mind this was also during the citywide lockdown from the pandemic in the second half of May when businesses were still operating in a limited capacity. He made the time and came with PPE on to assess what was needed. Off the bat, he came off as a great guy. He explained to me what was needed and was happy to answer all my questions. We discussed timelines and pricing. A formal proposal was sent within two days detailing all the work. Everything was very professional and because of Larry's character, I did not shop around. No regrets because Larry and his team did a phenomenal job. Within a three-day span, my roof and gutters were taken down and rebuilt. 1. The team was punctual. 7:30am on the dot every work day. 2. Everyone on the team was professional and friendly 3. It's a huge team of people working on one site, which gave me confidence that timeline was going to be met. 4. My neighbors were taken care of; notified and their sides of the house were protected during the whole process. 5. With Covid in mind, Larry accommodated to some safety measures I requested (looking out for the six little kids we have in the house) 6. We have an old house. An issue came up, but Larry swiftly took care of it and suggested the best resolution 7. We had some unpredictable weather this week. Safety of the workers was considered. When work did start and some unexpected storm clouds were brewing, the team worked harder to ensure that the waterproofing was laid down before and rain came down. No leaks were found, which is great! Larry was a pleasure to work with. Professional and a really great guy. You can tell that he respects the business and the people he is helping. I definitely felt I was in good hands throughout the whole process. It's a family business that values their customers. I will definitely be recommending Larry to all my friends and family who need roof work in the future. read more

After calling Verrazano Roofing & asking owner Larry to look at my roof thinking i had missing shingles they responded very quickly with a phone call & were at my house that same day. There price was excellent & very fair. Keep in mind i had 1 company from Queens tell me i needed a new roof which would have been alot more money! I got more roofing quotes than I could count for my rowhouse in Flatbush. Verrazano was the only company to give me a quote that didn't involve the illegal use of torches on my roof. Verrazano gave me a proposal that included installing a layer of insulation board and two glue-down layers of roofing membrane plus a few other odds and ends for a little over $16k. Once we signed the contract, they came the first dry day and finished in one day. I was really amazed. read more

Owner should be appalled at the way he spoke to me earlier this year. I called and politely asked "Hi, I was hoping to get an update on timing for my service today." before I can even say anything more he yells "who is this????" I was so shocked by his tone that I said "opps, I must have the wrong number." I called again and realized it wasn't the wrong number. He continues to give me extreme attitude ("I don't even know who you are".... never even let me get there). Wow. Not how I am used to being treated by service providers when I politely call to ask a question. Truly appalling. If you don't want customers calling, maybe don't put your phone number on the internet. Took them 4-5 visits to fix a simple leak in our apartment but I won't get into that. read more

WOW! There's so many great things to say about my new roof installation that I don't even know where to begin. The crew got here on time, on the spot. They worked their butts off, they were precise, professional, pay attention to small details (that's very important) - they took all the debris out - it was spotless!!! I WAS AMAZED!! Larry is very honest and he truly cares about his clients - what he promised me at the beginning - "Yong, we don't cut corners, we used top notch materials, we are going to show you what we can do, you will be happy with the result" You know what, that's EXACTLEY how I'm feeling right now, ONE HAPPY CAMPER!! :) THANKS SO MUCH AGAIN LARRY! read more

I asked for an estimate and the guy that came didnt even have a long enough ladder. You would think for a roofing company their trucks would be supplied with ladders that go above 6ft. SATISFIED CUSTOMER! I can't say enough about Larry and his crew. Pricing was extremely fair and the quality of the work perfection. My roof is emaculate. His crew was courteous, professional, fast and didn't leave me with a mess! Larry has been there every step of the way to answer my questions and work with me regarding my concerns. TBH I almost went with another company to save a couple bucks and try and get away with a smaller scope of work but after doing more research I realized it really wasn't worth it and what Verrazano was offering me was a way better deal for the quality of the materials they use and the scope of what they did. I got a completely new roof soup to nuts with a 20 year guarantee and they even corrected the existing pitch to ensure no more pooling. I would recommend this company to anyone needing roof service or repair, Larry is a straight shooter and cares about his customers. read more

THE BEST IN BROOKLYN. Larry was so great, from start to finish. They are confident in their work and make sure you're 100% satisfied with the job. I had a great experience with Larry and his team putting a silicone coating on the aging roof of my Brooklyn brownstone and installing new skylights. Starting from the bid, Larry was more specific and transparent about materials and price than anyone else I spoke to. The team that did the work was quick and professional (and they wore masks). I checked mid project and they did a proper job sealing seams and priming before putting on the coating. They cleaned debris from the glass below the new skylights. (They're cleaner now than they've ever been since I moved in!) The project was done in one day and they cleaned up very well. I've waited a couple months to write this review to see if I had any problems and I've had none. No cracks, no leaks, and the roof looks great (not that it matters for a roof but it's nice to see such careful work). Only two little things I'd mention: once I'd decided to go with Verrazano, it took a little more back and forth and followup on my part to get contracts signed and a date scheduled than I'd have liked. And I've noticed a wire glued down into the coating in one spot that I wish it wasn't, but it's really a minor thing. Overall, as dealing NYC contractors goes, this went really well. I'm really pleased with the work and I'd recommend them to anyone needing roofing work! read more

My family owns a three story prewar in Fort Greene, and we recently employed Verrazano Roofing when we were having issues with a hatch to our building's roof, as well as a leak seeping into one of our rental units that had recently become very problematic due to the spring season rains. We were very pleased with every aspect of their work on our job- they were very easy to contact, were able to come the next day to survey the scope and give us a very reasonable quote, and then they came the very next day to take care of our hatch issue so that the leak in our roof could be addressed- very matter of fact order of proceeding, and we never once felt rushed or pressured into a course of action. Larry was very helpful in talking us through our options and giving us alternatives. We were also particularly impressed by how they managed to get on to the roof (the hatch, as mentioned, was stuck, and our building is free-standing, so there's no way to get onto the roof from an adjacent property), and the celerity with which they completed the task at hand. With the issues of access fixed for a very reasonable price (again, particularly in light of what I'd call a challenging job), Larry met with us personally to discuss our options for going forward and dealing with the leak. Particularly with something as critical to the health and well-being of a building as a roof, you want experienced, intelligent, and well-versed people handling it, and that's just what we got with Verrazano Roofing. I'm very confident with the work they've done, and their ability to address any issues that arise with this old building going forward. I would recommend them without reservation to anyone in need of a capable contractor who can literally help you keep a roof over your head. They're very well versed in their trade (and I have to imagine with the variety and age of buildings in Brooklyn, they see a lot), responsive to questions, able to get the job done when we needed it, and most importantly of all for anyone who owns a building, very easy and pleasant to work with. read more
