Hurricane Sandy damaged my roof beyond repair so I called around and got 3 quotes. Rocco's quote was by far the most expensive, at more than double the other quotes. But they were local and Anthony seemed like an upstanding guy.
In early 2013, Anthony's crew came out to do the work. Anthony did not come to the project site during the entire project. Debris flew everywhere surrounding the property and even damaged my fence. The dumpster I paid for was filled with debris from another project. There was no clean-up after each day of work so loose nails, old shingles, tar and other debris covered the perimeter of my house and my car. During the entire project I was pitched more work to be done, but with no actual price quote, just a very casual, "don't worry, I'll take care of it for you." At the end of the project Anthony would tally up all those extra little areas of work and eventually charged me nearly 30% over the original quote. I'll chalk that up to my own mistake for not having it spelled out (written out) before Anthony's crew "took care of it," for me. The end, right? No, not the end.
During the rain storm following the new roof installation, rain poured into my living room and kitchen. I had to empty out a compound container every 15-20 mins. as the water was overflowing. I called Anthony (Rocco's) over and over again, but either no one picked up or his front desk person said he was not available. Days, weeks would go by and no response from Anthony. It finally took threats of a lawsuit before Anthony would return my call. When he finally did come he claimed that all the leaks were not a result of his crew's work. But the problem with that statement is; there was no leak prior to Hurricane Sandy and if a new roof doesn't prevent leaks from the roof, what does? So, at my strong urging, Anthony acquiesced and brought in one of his crew to fix the leak in the living room. But he left it unfinished so I had to complete the cosmetic portion of the job myself. The kitchen was left untouched since fixing the living room leak was as much "favor" as he was going to extend. It still leaks today. It's been 3 years now since Anthony installed my new roof and in the process, I've had nothing but trouble. His crew left some side panels off which led to a family of raccoons moving into the walls of my house and living underneath my bathtub. When it's windy out, old shingles are still flying off my roof and the portions of the roof where Anthony said he replaced the plywood are soft and mushy. I have serious doubts as to whether or not Anthony's crew replaced the rotting plywood. But he certainly did charge me for it. read more
