Great service-I came in on a Saturday and picked my laptop up on Monday! Very honest, professional, and conscious of time. Three other companies tried to charge nearly 25% more for the same services! I came to QuickFix to repair a broken hinge in my Dell laptop. I was so happy with the work the guys did- Sam inspected my laptop and gave me a price quote within the first few minutes that I walked in, which was much cheaper than other companies had offered me. I also told him about an overheating problem I was having and he told me he would look at it. Two days later, I picked up my laptop as if brand new. Sam called to let me know that the service was actually CHEAPER than he had orginally quoted because the part ended up being not as expensive to order. Furthermore, he cleaned out the dust in my laptop fan for free because we were already doing business. Great service and time-tested results. I've used Quick Fix occasionally for years for different problems on several different computers: Desktops and laptops. Once again this month, they did what I needed. I had a Dell that was just way too slow, and considered wi-fi problems, hardware limitations, viruses... but I couldn't figure it out. I was about to junk it and spend over $1000 on a new system that I really wasn't sure I wanted. Then I remembered Quick Fix - so I took it in and a week later got what feels like a brand new machine. It was a combination of RAM and a slow disc drive, which they replaced with a solid state one. They also said I didn't need a graphics card that I thought might make my video editing faster, so they saved me money too. Thanks again guys. read more

My computer started failing with the recent hot spell, seemed to improve with the weather (and a driver update), and then died completely yesterday. After going to one place (we'll send it out for diagnostics and you'll see your computer in 5 days) and a bit of calling around, I choose to bring it to these folks. Their theory as to what was broken sounded reasonable, their English is fluent, when I asked for timing and price estimates, they were clear, and they told me they'd at least be likely to diagnose the issue that day (they have hardware and software diagnostics in-house). When I brought in the computer they did a few simple tests and it turned out to be a battery problem. They showed me what was wrong, how I can tell next time, and both ran some hardware diagnostics and cleaned out the external part of the fan area for good measure. Then they recommended a source for the battery (with mapquest directions to get there) and charged me nothing. Absolutely zero. What a pleasure. Other items, when I walked in the tiny shop (it's hardly bigger than a bedroom) the front person was busy and another person immediately came over to see if he could help. They can accurately describe where they are (very important when there isn't a computer to provide directions) and have a parking lot in back (not visible from El Camino). While I'm not a hardware person, I do have a significant software background. The staff got this quickly and did not treat me as some one with no knowledge. In all this place was a pleasure to use. 2013, now 2015, 2 years later I came back to QuickFix for a complete upgrade on the 1st desktop they built AND build a completely new 2nd desktop. Again I cannot give enough praise to Rami & his team of technicians. Professional and always going above & beyond with their services. What I appreciate the most is the soft spoken Rami is very trust worthy and I know whatever I need done I can trust all my files and pictures are in safe hands and he troubleshoots all my computer issues. My honest review from my perspective 1st day: brought in my pc that was having low fps issue for 2 years now. I paid about $110 for same day diagnostic. Quickfix later notified to me that My SSD was having issues and they could not boot my pc up. They told me that it would cost $250 to replace the SSD. I was able to talk to the manager and told him that it doesn't make sense for $200 labor cost for installing SSD because I found the same SSD they were installing online for $55 and Windows 10 is free. The manager was able to lower the price to me to $150 total. I was skeptical at this point that the SSD was the issue that caused low fps but I told them to install it anyway to see how it turned out. 2nd day, I came to pick up my PC. I brought it home to play some games and guess what, the issue still wasn't resolved. I immediately led them know and brought my PC to their store the 2nd time. They were able to replicate the same issues and identified the problem is something related to the CPU. 3rd day: They confirmed with me that the problem was the motherboard. They would let me know if they can fix it or would need to replace it. 4th day: The store owner reached out to me to let me know that it would cost me $240 to replace the motherboard. He applied a discount for me since he knows that I didn't have the best experience at his store. 5th day: When they received the motherboard, they installed it for me and I was able to bring it home the same day. The issue was actually fixed this time. I was so happy! Overall thoughts: Happy that I was able to finally fix my PC after a 2 year ongoing issue. I wasn't too thrilled with the service price they offered and I still think I didn't have to spend $150 on a new SSD. Total cost was $500, including parts. At one point, I was even leaning towards getting a brand new more powerful rig for $1500 since the repair cost is $500 already. Regardless, the owner truly cares about his customers and his employees so kudos to that. The owner really tries to earn his customers trust and I respect that. That's one way to build your brand. I think this place still has room to grow overall but their customer service is excellent. read more

That was solid service, but the awesome part came later: months later, when selling the device on eBay they were very helpful helping me understand what kind of drive they had installed. My laptop computer's screen was cracked internally for no reason. I couldn't see much on the screen. My first choice was to buy a new one but found out it is quite expensive. Office Depot offers repair service but they require my computer for more than a week. The same is at other stores and Best Buy. Someone at Best Buy recommended me to check out with QuickFix which is nearby. Oscar greeted me at the store and told me he could replace the screen right away. One hour later, my computer was ready and it is working perfectly ever since. This service center has outstanding service and people working there are very cordial and professional. Very fast and very approachable people. I play a geek in my day job and contacted a former co-worker for a recommendation when my Macbook Pro suffered a Coffee Syndrome. He recommend Quickfix and said they're THE place to go to. I went to the Apple store first. They said $750 to fix it which is basically replacing most of the guts. I took it by Quickfix and they called within a day and gave me 2 options. One lower price to replace the keyboard and a higher price to replace the backlit part of the keyboard. I decided that although the backlit part is cool to have, I rarely use my laptop in the dark so I decided I could get by with a less expensive repair bill. I had a problem later that day where my laptop shut off a couple of times when I was using it. I called and brought it by the next day. When I called to check, they said they couldn't duplicate the problem. I picked it up and it's been fine since then. The only negative thing is they didn't call me back as promised when they were doing the extra testing. I called a few days after they were supposed to call, but in light of everything else, this was a minor annoyance. read more

They are also very friendly and customer focused, which can sometimes be rare when working with IT Services. When fixing my computer they found several addition problems, and went ahead and fixed them for me at no charge, sticking to their initial quote despite the increased work load. They even helped me troubleshoot some software problems when I picked up my laptop. I had my laptop screen completely shattered after my daughter attempted to close the laptop cover with a piece of LEGO still on my keyboard. They fixed it flawlessly. Worked with James this morning when I arrived with my laptop. I needed to know if it had the right Microsoft .NET framework installed for a software update that I needed to make on one of my applications. He quickly determined that he would need to enable the version that the SW application was saying should also be on the system. My system actually had a more recent version - the SW manufacturer said that if I had the newer version that I should enable the lower version as well. I was in and out of the shop within 15 to 20 minutes. I've since made the application upgrade and my system is working perfectly. Thank you James! read more

My husband and I do not recommend Quickfix. My husband needed a new laptop. We didn't want to go through the hassle of researching our options, dealing with retail outlets, transferring our data, etc., so we looked for a service that would do the whole thing for us. We looked at the Yelp reviews for companies that could do this and Quickfix had a lot of very positive ratings. We also liked the fact that Rami E. responded to most of the Yelp reviews, so he seemed to be paying attention to customer experiences. What we got from Quickfix was a used computer with old technology, the hours and hassle of doing all the things we had wanted to avoid, and an attempt to keep some of our money when we were due a full refund. I called Quickfix and told Oscar what we were looking for: advice about our computer choices, purchase of the computer we selected, and transfer of the data from the old computer to the new one. He said Quickfix could do those things and told us we should go to the shop to discuss the services. When we went to Quickfix we presented our goal again: a turn-key service that would provide us with a new computer to replace the old one. Oscar said he could provide such a service and showed us two computers. He strongly recommended one of them as having current technology that would last us five-to-six years. We agreed with Oscar's proposal and paid the entire amount. The next day Oscar called and said that the computer was ready to be picked up. At home the computer seemed to work fine. What a shock when we called the manufacturer about the warranty and found that the laptop we'd bought was two-and-a-half years old and had a CPU two generations old. Oscar had sold us the demo machine he showed us in the store! We called Oscar. He didn't argue about the status of the computer. He offered us a refund or the chance to "work things out" at Quickfix. My husband and I decided we didn't want to have anything more to do with Quickfix's services. I called Oscar and told him that we would (1) choose a new computer; (2) buy it at a big box store a few blocks from Quickfix; (3) have the store's service department load the software, transfer the files, and wipe the hard drive; (4) return the computer Quickfix had sold us; and (5) get a full refund. Oscar didn't disagree. We proceeded to do (1) through (3) (the price we paid for a new computer from the same manufacturer was not much more than what we paid Quickfix). Then I took the computer Quickfix had sold us back to Quickfix. Oscar took a long time confirming that it worked okay. Then he said that he'd give us a refund - less 10% as a re-stocking fee. I demanded a full refund. Oscar said that he had to charge the fee for some vague reasons. We went back and forth. Oscar said he'd talk to the manager and he disappeared into the back room. After a few minutes the manager appeared, but he made me wait while he talked to a man who was fixing something for Quickfix. Eventually, the manager walked over to me. He introduced himself, but I didn't catch his name; I believe he was Rami E., the person who responds to Yelp reviews. I told Mr. E. what had happened. Mr. E. said that the re-stocking fee was necessary to compensate for the time Oscar had spent setting up the computer. We had a lengthy, unedifying discussion about the circumstances under which my husband and I bought the computer from Quickfix and whether we were entitled to a full refund. Eventually, Mr. E reimbursed us the full amount. So, ultimately the experience with Quickfix boiled down to caveat emptor. My husband and I do not recommend this business. read more

My four and a half year-old laptop reached the end of its hard drive life cycle in early August. I made an appointment with Quickfix for Thursday afternoon, paid to have them diagnose the problem the same day (it's free if you give them 2 business days), and then picked up the recovered data from the hard drive Saturday morning. (It was ready by Friday afternoon) Throughout this, I found the employees to be professional and helpful. I especially appreciate Rami, the owner, recommending me laptop brands to buy for reliability and durability. (I had independently purchased a new laptop in the interim that I later had to return) That advice in and of itself was invaluable. And given what I have seen offered by other compute repair shops in the Bay Area, the price for the data recovery seems reasonable. On an additional note, the shop itself has hardwood floors, is well-ventilated, clean, and has large sofas. Thus, it was convenient to simply wait there for an hour and half before the diagnostic results were done and retrieve my laptop sans hard drive, as opposed to having to drive back later or waiting in my car. I appreciated that. My experience here was excellent and I will be bringing them any future repair problems. read more
