Well organized waiting room, efficient staff, and terrific phlebotomist! My doctor had not transmitted the test requests so the phlebotomist patiently typed in the info from the paper copies I bought with me. She was kind and comforting and despite the need to draw several vials of blood, was uncommonly gentle with the needle -- I barely felt the prick and was left with no bleeding or bruising. Definitely an awkward visit . Came to get blood work done . Didn't have to wait long , however there definitely was lack of privacy during my appointment . While I was getting my blood drawn , another patient along with her family member slept barging in the room tryna get the tech's attention , granted their was a language barrier so I see why there was a constant interruption . But all that could have been avoided if the room I was in closed from start to finish . The facility was nice and I appreciate the tech apologizing for the countless interruption . I received the services of Quest Diagnostics through MEDPEDS in Laurel, Maryland. The Quest Diagnostics invoice for lab work was submitted to my insurance company. My insurance company's Explanation of Benefits (EOB) clearly stated that nearly all of the tests were covered by insurance. Yet, Quest continued to send out invoices for the full amount. This has continued for months. I called to complain on numerous occasions, emailing the insurance EOBs, along with my information, and have yet to receive a return receipt, nor a response. Quest Diagnostic personnel have been completely incompetent and unhelpful. I am still having to deal with this. read more

Writing this from the waiting room and I read the reviews and understand why there's such bad review upon immediate arrival. My appointment is at 11, I got here at 10:50am and the door was locked I only got in because someone was leaving. As soon as I walked in I heard "ma'am we're not taking walk ins, do you have an appointment" I said yes with a smile and the woman felt the need to repeat herself louder and I said "yes I have an appointment" she said okay on such a condescendingly disgusting way that I'm scared to go back there if she's my tech and I'm worried that her patient care matches her attitude. I had a great experience! The lab is located conveniently. There was plenty of free parking close to the building. I made an appointment and checked in at the kiosk. It was a short wait. The phlebotomist asked me a bunch of questions to keep me distracted since I was a bit nervous to give blood which worked great to calm my nerves. I mean who is going to read or write reviews on a lab but hey, that is the beauty of Yelp! You can find anything you need and in my case, I like to give back by contributing. I use Quest due to my insurance. Although there is a lab in my doctor's office, I always end up paying more in out of pocket expenses. I had always used the Quest on Lockwood but learned this location was even more convenient to my home. Booking an appointment online was easy. Using the QR code to check in was easy. As this is still a pandemic, there was sanitizer everywhere and not one other person in the waiting room. I was not checked in at the reception area but rather taken back to the exam room. Jumoke was the phlebotomist and in this case, also the clerk. She processed my lab forms and as one proved challenging due to the codes, had me go off to the bathroom while she sorted it out. This was a good strategy and use of my time. She had it straightened out when I got back. I warned her that I was not scared of needles but rather squeamish about the ordeal, something that has worsened as I age. I know it is all in my head. She was understanding and kept me calm and distracted and entertained my attempt at small talk. Minimum pinch, yeah of course I felt it but no big deal. She let me sit and relax and I was totally fine. She was excellent and helped me remain calm through the ordeal. Worse case, I would have gotten light headed and needed a few extra minutes to get myself back together but even though that is not so bad, her demeanor meant I didn't even have to struggle with that. His place is retarded. I showed up on Saturday and they said i can only come via appointment. There was absolutely no one in the parking lot or In The building. I asked the lady do they do walk in and she said no we are booked for the day. Again no one was there and two workers were sitting at a desk talking. Don't go here they should go out of business. Customer service is not a thing here. They act like we owe them our business not like they want our business. read more

I had an appointment for routine blood work at 10:45am on a Saturday. I arrived at 10:40. The waiting roomwas so full there was nowhere to sit. There was no one sitting at the desk to handle reception. I waited for 45 minutes even though as I previously mentioned, I had an appointment!!! When I'm finally called back to the processing room, the employee told me my insurance prefers another company so I might have an additional charge. If they had someone actually doing their job at the front desk, I could have saved 50 minutes of my life! I left and made an appointment somewhere else instead. God help you if you have to have contact with Quest Labs. PERIOD! For example at this Laurel location - English is not understood easily whether spoken or heard. They do not know if they can do a certain tests unless you sit and waste your time at there office. Why in Gods name John's Hopkins of all places refers patients here is beyond me. They couldn't find their ass with two hands, a map and a flash light!! Another example - Try calling the national number for help - you won't get any help at all they don't know either what they are doing and that's if you can possibly at all get a human on the phone. I HATE getting needles. First of all, no one can find my veins and secondly; I'm not a pincushion! Even at hospitals, they treat me like a voodoo doll. At the Quest Diagnostics in Laurel, MD, everyone leaves that office with a smile on their face. Unheard of! I mean, didn't they just get a shot and doesn't a shot hurt? The phlebotomists here know their stuff. They get me on the first try, always. I never bruise. They never stick me in my hand and they use butterfly needles. They laugh, sing and are always pleasant and know their stuff, most importantly. Jamokie (sp?) is one of my favorites, but today; Vonnie took my blood and in a split second it was over and I left smiling too. Listen, we all need to get blood taken and if you're gonna do it - might as well go to the best place there is - Quest in Laurel, MD, opposite from the Laurel Hospital. The only thing they don't do, is give out batman Band-Aids for the boys and the Little Mermaid, for the gals. read more

Find another location! The 2 ladies here seem to hate their jobs, one worse than the other, she is very nasty with everyone coming in. Watched her dig in her ear with a pen then put it back in the cup for patients to use. Gross! Had to do a 3 hr test, no tv ,no magazines, uncomfortable chairs, and signs that say no cell phones. So what am i suppose to do for 3 hrs to keep myself sane? Doesnt help when the nurses are very uninviting. other locations offer a room to lay down in to pass the time of waiting, this place doesnt even keep track of your time of when you need blood drawn they tell you to let them know! The Patient Service Center was easy to find with a comfortable waiting area. I'd made an appointment and scanned the barcode I'd received, so I was seen almost immediately. My technician, Jasmine, was superb. She adeptly handled the connectivity problems produced by Quest Diagnostic's central IT system, quickly found and confirmed essential pieces of my profile, insurance, and doctor's lab orders. In fact, she was more effective than the on-line system MyQuest™ in locating my insurance information. She ushered me into the patient's room and performed a painless - almost enjoyable! - venipuncture and sample collection. Jasmine was not only efficient but also consistently pleasant and reassuring. She knowledgeably and clearly answered my questions about time frame for analysis and results. Seems that this location gets some bad reviews not because of the local personnel but because of staffing decisions and computer system problems that arise from the corporate level. The technicians here have to be the public face of this national company. Yet they have almost no control over corporate decisions, and they have to take the consequences of those decisions in the form of complaining, sometimes hostile, clients. Plus they are held responsible for these complaints by their management. It's the central system that schedules patients, for example, not the local staff. I hope Quest is learning to better manage things remotely to ease the bottlenecks that occur locally. read more

Awful. The waiting area had a bad odor. Only one person was working. The wait was extremely long. Over 10 people walked out without being seen. They were taking appointments before folks who had been waiting for 2 hrs. Need to rethink the appointments when you only have one person working. Everyone's time is important. Never again read more

My best ever blood work experience!. I fear needles like death and I have actually passed out on an injection/shot before but Edith at this Quest location did the best blood draw job I've experienced in my life and I'm almost 40 years old. I always had both of my arms drilled with needles in multiple locations each time I go for a blood work. The least I've had was 3 and I showed great appreciation to the lady that very day while the most I've had was 9. Today was different because Edith did one time and got it right with the least pain ever, something I never thought was possible.
