KAISER IS THE WORST! Not worth going through the details of the many many horror stories and appointments with them. They simply do not care and have a system put in place to keep you going in circles with only pharmaceuticals and pain shots as solutions. They ignore your issues until they become worse to keep you in their system. PLEASE RUN and get yourself another insurance! Take it from someone who has been in it for 10plus years as they have exhausted me and ignored my issues until I finally stop going to the doctor all together. This Kaiser location is much smaller than the other ones in the area, such as in Kensington or Gaithersburg. And as such it lacks urgent care and any other sophisticated testing and analysis. Having said that the location is great at what it does. That being radiology and lab. Doctor appointment. Pharmacy. Eye care. Behavioral health. Female needs. And if this location doesn't have what you require they will refer you to one of the other locations to get what you need. Modern building with plenty of parking. Free WiFi but you need to check in on their web site. Internal medicine, OB/GYN, pediatrics, orthopedics, optical center, pharmacy, but no urgent care at this location, which is why only four stars. My visit with the optometrist was very professional and thorough, no problem getting a convenient appointment on line. They even provided a pair of disposable sun glasses to help me get home with dilated pupils. I will have to shop a bit before filling my new prescription, as they seemed a bit pricy. The receptionist was very flexible in dealing with a problem with my HSA debit card for the modest co-payment. read more

I have been with Kaiser since the early 1900's. I am so happy with Kaiser that I turned down a job because the company didn't offer Kaiser for health care. My first doctor, Dr. "Krist" was so good that I sent a letter to Kaiser's Headquarter's HR pointing out her excellent service. My current doctor is even better. With the Government's programs I get through Kaiser doesn't cost me anything. My only cost is a copay I have to pay a Government contractor, Express Scrips, for medication for service connected disabilities. There couldn't be a better medical service than Kaiser. read more

I really like my doctors. Dr Strauchon, Dr Ryder and my therapist Jan. BUT. The center staff is disorganized and uncouth. Ive got sooo many horror stories I dont even know where to begin. Lets start with the worst experience first; About three months ago I had to have some blood drawn. I wasnt anticipating to have this done after my doc appt. when i went to the lab I was even more shocked to discover I had to have ten vials of blood drawn--i hadn't eaten lunch. So after my blood is drawn Im feeling faintish and I ask for some water since the water fountain is broken. "We dont have any water. Theres a water fountain upstairs..." *pause* you dont have an emergency supply of water? You want me to walk upstairs in my faintish state to try to search for a water fountain that may or may not work??? I ask for a cup to at least collect some tapwater from the bathroom faucet--no dice. WTF how can you run a lab with no emergency water or snack incase someone gets weak??? I left pissed and weak. Shitty encounter #2 Rude Security guard. I used to attend group therapy afterhours. For whatever reason There was no security guard (very unsafe) then one night they finally get one and we just waltz right in. Same guy next week stops us. Hey you cant enter. "We were here last week for group therapy you remember?" "No I wasnt here last week..." "Yes you were!" "No!" (insert sideeye emoji) Finally our therapist comes and fir the remainder weeks he gives us a hard time. Im not gonna bore you with the petty details of my other experiences. Just know every time I come here I always have an issue. Love my doctors though! *********** Update 11/15/17 I've added a star. Since my last review they've made some improvements. The facility manager called me personally to let me know the lab now carries emergency water and snacks. The pharmacy is open to 8pm now. Still got disorganized front desk workers. Like the one who told me i needed an appointment to get diflucan bish plz. Lol read more

I LOVE the OBGYN care I receive at this Kaiser location! MUCH better than the Kensington location I used to frequent. Wait times are very reasonable - I'm typically called in within 15 mins of arriving (granted I schedule all appts in the early morning). Facilities are super clean and neat. I love my doctor Dr Baisden - she's very professional and thorough and takes the time to answer all my questions and address my concerns. She also updates my medical record with very detailed notes during each visit. Love her! Love the staff too - I always feel respected and cared for. Now my experience at the lab is hit-or-miss... there is a certain intake person at the Lab that can be quite flippant and rude. But everyone at the back of the lab (those doing the blood draws etc) are super sweet and competent. I havent used the Pharmacy much so cant speak on them. read more

The optometry staff are friendly, though disorganized. They have now scheduled three appointment for an eye exam. The first appointment, I was left in the waiting room after checking in for an hour before having to leave for other appointments. They called to apologize and schedule again. The second time, we made it through the initial exam, the doctor dilated my eyes, and I was left in the waiting room again for 45 minutes before receiving a call that took me away. Again, they called to apologize and re-schedule. While the medical staff are quite good, they cannot seem to manage patient queues. Unless your prescription is complex, you may wish to look to other eyeglass vendors for your glasses, ones who are able to schedule and process patients who provide proper expectations on wait times. I have scheduled a third appointment, although further complications will send me off to a commercial vendor. read more

I love my OGBYN and Internal Medicine doctor at Kaiser Permanente Silver Spring Medical Center. I have gone to many doctors and the doctors here have the patients' best interest in mind and don't try to rush the appointment. The staff in radiology and the lab are also very nice and accommodating. I've had to have several lab tests done and every time they have been done in a timely manner. read more

Kaiser is KiLLing Me by leaving me in pain my blood pressure and stress is dangerously elevated. They are also experimenting with my pain treatment. This is my 18th year of Chronic Pain. All of which was treated& documented by Doctors with decades of experience and backed up with multiple MRIs. My pain developed from a car accident. I've Never been an drug addict ( they have chronic pain too) The areas on my body can be seen and are will documented as areas which causes Severe & Chronic Pain!! To add more misery and suffering to my life, I now have fibromyalgia. I came to KP Bc of my health plan. Some areas of KP are great however hiring a brunch of young doctors and only giving them 15-20 minutes to research past medical histories, evaluate importance, assess, diagnosis, prescribed, document and be caring to the patient is BIG TIME NEGLIGENCE on KAISER. Back to MY POOR CARE: They know my history. Instead of treated me for pain which had been elevating my Blood pressure to stroke levels, they DOUBLED my anti hypertension medications. $$. They made me get spinal injections$$. The made me come into the hospital for a 2 HOUR pain appointment for a Lecture on how pain medications are dangerous and they don't help long term pain. Then a so called Pain psychologist was to teach me how to Image my Pain away. Why isn't that technique used for Everyone with pain?? If it's so great!! KP pick who the want to give pain medication too. Here's some of my experiences. 1. I have to Sign a bizarre contract if u want your pain medication. 2. Get needles in your spinal cord$$$3. A doctor told me to take more shower. Excuse Me!! 3. One doctor wrote for every med he could think of except pain medications $$$4. Multiple cream which I would have to apply all over my body every few hours. THE MOST UNETHICAL was lies I found and my chart. Then a Verbal threat of having multiple doctors by one doctor who only spoke to me by phone. I've talked to several administrators REPEATEDLY. Kaiser Permanente has no clear policy for Chronic Pain Patients or administrative chain of command willing to help if things go wrong. No one Cares at Kaiser!! THE WORST! Waited a half hour just to have a prescription filled. Why you ask.......BECAUSE THEY FORGOT ABOUT ME! If I hadn't said anything I'm guessing that I would still be sitting there. My second time going there and it feels like I was at Walmart. Basically the lesson learned is don't pick the cheapest health care program. I totally thought the other reviewers were nuts, but after having one of the most frustrating afternoons, they are all correct. This is the worst place, besides the nurses and security. Rude front desk assistants, took 40 minutes to get into the exam room, waited another 20 for my primary care, was 45 minutes late to my gynecologist and they couldn't take me - despite assurances from primary care that they would! - and on top of it the primary care apparently didn't have enough time to answer questions I had. The call center made my back to back appointments, and the staff all acted like I was incredibly stupid for not leaving "at least an hour and a half" between. How am I supposed to know that, as a new patient? Throughout the visit it was just the most disorganized medical office I've ever been in. Good thing it's now open season at my work and I can switch. My first Kaiser experience was horrible! Everyone in Silver Spring is terrible! The lab and pharmacy are the worst ones. They way they treat the "members" is disgusting. Disrespectful and cruel. I have been to Kaiser multiple times now and each time my experience has become more dreadful. Spend your money to a different insurance, private practice customer service is way better! Facility is clean but kinda outdated. Parking is great because they have a huge parking lot located in front of the facility. The staff is friendly and helpful. My experience with both of my doctor appointments went smoothly. Was taken on time and treated with respect. Both doctors were gentle and caring! The reason this is not five stars is because of the pharmacy department. The line was long and the room was over crowded. After patiently waiting for my turn for almost 10 minutes they told me they had to order my medicine bc they had run out of it. Which was fine, I came back when they told me to 3 Days later and it still hadn't come in. I wonder if they had forgot to order it the first time? They sent me to Kensington Medical Center to pick it up bc they had it in stock. The pharmacists as nice about it but that was a 25 extra min drive and when I got there, they had no idea. Thankfully the pharmacist at the Kensington location was so helpful and friendly. I ended up receiving my medicine and hopefully this will never happen again. I think Silver Spring Medical Center is overall good, just hope the pharmacy department gets it together. read more

I came here with shoulder pain and I did not know it was not an urgent care. I just want to say that Trish P was awesome enough to help me out and let me see a doctor. She was very professional and helpful on my trip here, she definitely made the experience more relaxed. I was able to see Dr Ryder and she was very informative and guided me through every step of making my shoulder better. They were closing soon but Dr Ryder made sure to answer all my questions and treated me as if she had all day. I appreciated it. read more

Worse place ever! I tried making an appointment, and I was on a phone with a dumb old lady. She brought up information that I should've been informed about years ago, and im just now understanding the issue. I was questioning her and she claimed i was arguing with her? She would interrupt me saying "let me finish" so i let her finish, but then I told her to "let me finish" and she couldn't do the same? Then she exaggerates saying she's been on the phone with me for half an hr (30 mins) and i check my iPhone, and it said I was on the call for 16 minutes? So I proved her wrong and said her estimate was bs and she quickly jumped to conclusion that i was insulting her? I really wish I did start arguing with her, or actually insult her bc I don't have time for an grumpy old lady with a nasty attitude. And she works under pediatrics, like how does she work with kids? I hate poor service, and I hate attitude. She was unprofessional, and needs to reconsider her career, or get prescribed to marijuana bc she's on some other shit. read more

Honestly one of the quickest medical facilities you could ask for. Online appointments make it easy to schedule and I have never waited more than 10 minutes at this pharmacy, even when my doctor just requested a medication. Have been to nearly every department and experienced similar wait times. Saw a primary care, got a chest x-ray and pharmacy done within an hour and a half, doesn't get better than that. No doctor's office has 0 wait times, but this is better than most. read more
