Labcorp - Laboratory Testing Near Me - Silver Spring, Maryland

I had purchased a pregnancy blood test online and made an appointment at the New Hampshire Ave location in Silver Spring, MD. I had an email with my legal name on it 'Sofia Butler'. I went to the location, used the machine and scanned my ID. It told me to wait my turn, my name was also displayed on the TV with others waiting. My appointment was at 12:35pm, my husband and I arrived at exactly 12:20pm and checked in. Everyone before me was called and taken care of. No one came to ask who I was waiting for or what I needed. There were 4 ladies just chit chatting, sharing videos and stuff on their phones. Kept looking my way but ignoring that I've been sitting there for over 45 minutes. Finally I was the only one sitting there as if in time out. I went up to the window for an update. The lady who answers calls was very rude, said she called my name TWICE which is false, I'm not hard of hearing. Then said she couldn't find me in the system, I entered my ID wrong etc. Then how did you call my name if you can't find me? Then I was explaning to her to look for muy maiden name, she yells at me " Don't cut me off". Finally I was checked in and then a sweet young lady took me back to Room 3 where a African American tech (the whole staff is African American) was waiting for me, but once she saw me she refused to take my blood. Was busy on her phone and walked away. The kind young girl took care of me. I had come in for blood work just a month ago and went though the same process and never had an issue. Checked in with the same ID, I was called and I was done and out. Either they were being lazy or racist but I require an apology or my money back. This was such a horrible experience. I went in to see if I was pregnant so I can catch an ectopic pregnancy before it happens because I lost my first baby that way. They were so mean and demeaning to me and just kept me waiting. I would never go that location ever again. These women don't know their job and are getting paid to be lazy. read more

I have tiny veins, the nurse who helped me was very skilled, she successfully withdrew blood in first try, I'm used to expecting 3-4 pokes but this was a smooth & comfortable experience, didn't even feel a pinch! read more

This lab needs to be shut down. No one should have to expose themselves to a waiting and checkin area that is not in compliance with cdc guidelines. There were 3 times the allowable amount of people in the watiting room. The window for checkin put me less than a foot from someone's little girl. There is nor enforcement of regulations and this makes everyone unsafe. This company does not care because they put profit before your health. This place needs to be shut until someone with brains redesigns it for the COVID era to be safe. read more

Today I had to get my blood work completed as the Urgent Care center I went to in Wheaton, Maryland was unable to draw my blood. They gave me a referral to choose any LabCorp facility in which I searched online for a location that was close to my home with convenient hours. I am so glad that I came to this location. I made my appointment online though their app and arrived 15 minutes early. Very easy check in process with almost no wait. When my name was called I told the technician I have a history of passing out with needles. She was understanding about my predicament and said I could lay out on the bed rather than the chair and went to go get me a pillow for my head. She tried to get the blood out of me but it just wouldn't happen. I wasn't feeling so great afterwards and asked me to take deep breaths and got me cold water. She then called her colleague to assist as she was better to deal with special cases like mine. She assessed my arm and said that she would use a child needle as I had such small veins. Literally, a pin prick feeling and she was able to get the blood. I want to thank the staff for being so kind and understanding! read more

The waiting room is dirty. The service was very slow. It looks like there's no management support for the employees. Labcorp seems more focu on marketing than customer service. read more

Excellent experience. Staff was friendly and professional. Blood draw was completely painless. I was in and out within 10 minutes of my appointment. read more

The customer service or lack there is horrible. The receptionist aren't friendly. The wait is horrible. They staff spends too much time talking to each other while never paying attention to the number of guests waiting in the lobby. It literally took 2 staffers to work on 1 guest with her paperwork. This place is unorganized and the experience is one that I will NEVER this location ever again. Really?!?!? I waiting 25 mins to find out that I have 3 people ahead of me who made appointments... why accept walk-ins?? Better yet they could of gotten a lot done if the one staffer stayed off her phone. I wouldn't recommend anyone to this location. Get a better system in place Manager of this location and get some professional people on your team that's about the customer service and being creative to move the customers along . read more

I would give this place 0 stars if I had the option to. Front desk ladies are highly disrespectful to the people in the waiting room and not to mention they are very racist to Latinos in general. Lucky for me I speak both English and Spanish so I understood everything they were saying towards me and others as well. I don't recommend this place to anyone . read more

I couldn't get an 8 AM appointment for nearly a week at any nearby Labcorp, so I took a chance and walked into my local office on a Saturday morning. The waiting room was very crowded and people were even waiting in the hall. Check-in at the kiosk was easy and I waited in my car. I received a text in about 15 minutes, did the paperwork with the front office staff, and waited another five minutes before being called to the phlebotomist. She was gentle, efficient, and friendly. The patients in the waiting room were also friendly and considerate. read more

I've been here a couple of times over the years. The check-in process was always hit-or-miss. Not anymore! I went online to schedule my appointment and when I walked in, 10 minutes early, I was pleasantly surprised to see that all check-ins were done at one of the two kiosks. So, I patiently waited for the two people checking in at the kiosks, who were having problems with this new "high-technology" and thought..."this is going to take some time." Fortunately, one of them got frustrated and told me to "go ahead and try." I plopped down my driver license so it could be scanned and BOOM I was checked in...no more than 10 seconds. I then sat and waited for my appointment time, with about 20 other people in the waiting room, and remembered that other Yelp reviewers said the wait was long even if one had an appointment. NOT TRUE! I was called up to the window at no more than 10 minutes after my scheduled time. Not a bad wait at all. I was out of the facility less than 20 minutes after my scheduled appointment time. As far as the lab tech? Oh man she was smooth with the needle. A real pro. Didn't even feel the pointy end going into my arm. She's the real hero. So, I recommend this location, highly. Make sure to make your appointment on line. And, even though the check-in is quick, make sure to get their 10-15 minutes early as a buffer for the technologically challenged ahead of you who may be wrestling with the kiosks. read more

The star is for the fast service after check-in. Blood draws make me nervous because I am not easy to bleed and require a good phlebotomist. I sit in the cube and the technician appears. No eye contact, not even a hello. She starts preparing her tubes as I tell her that I am a challenge. No reaction. She starts trying to find a vein and from what she is doing I know she is not good. Tries to bleed me once, unsuccessfully. She moves my arm and speaks harshly. She then moves to my hand which is usually a good spot, looses the vein and I could see a big bruise forming. I got lightheaded, which has never happened to me. She calls someone else that wants to continue, a much nicer person, but I feel sick and butchered and I want to leave. She asks me to come back and skip the line when I am ready. Absolutely not. I will find another lab in a week or so when my horrible bruises heal. read more

This was the worse experience I have ever been through in my life. I read reviews but I didn't think it'll be this bad. I don't even want to give it 1 star. This is written on the same day as the incident. My appointment was at 1030am and I literally sat there for hour and still no blood work done remind you. I tried to check in with the teller because I only had my passport and not an id with me. So I couldn't scan it. I waited 5 minutes just for the lady to tell me I still had to check in manually and I'm like well can't you check me in since I have the passport. It went downhill from there. I typed my own information. Then they made me wait another 5 mins before they called me to the back. Now I watched other people who were in and out in less than 5 min. I go back with the lady and then she tells me to take off my coat and then remind you no heat on in there. The lady starts looking up Herpes testing and I'm looking at the screen and I'm sitting here like Im not taking blood work for herpes nor anything in that bracket. Thats when I started to worry because my doctor was doing simple blood work for checking my blood levels. She starts to prepare the test remind you. She never put my name on the labels on the blood work viles. Leaves and claims that she can't find my lab requests even though she had the papers from my doctor. She leaves and doesn't tell me where she's going. But I start to hear her and the other employees talking about it. She gets the blue band that they tie around your arm she didn't even tie tight nor found my vein. She sticks me with the needle no blood comes out. At all. She took out the needle re put it in the same need still couldn't get blood out then jammed it in further then moved it around my arm. luckily during the entire time she had me waiting about finding out what my doctor ordered she didnt know I have my doctors personal number. My doctor told me to leave after my doctor called and the Office of labcorp took forever to pick up and call my doctor. My doctors office was with me on the phone and when the doctor overheard what was going on he told me to leave ASAP. And come in the office on Monday and never deal with labcorp. They were the worse experience ever. Rude incompetent & horrible customer service. I will never work with them again. And I'm warning all that goes. A hour in that office and still never got my blood work done. Can't wait to call my insurance company to not pay these people. My arm still sore it's been over 2 hours. read more

I need blood work annually and thought I was proactive when I made an appointment for a Saturday morning at Quest, almost a month early... only to discover that my doctor no longer used Quest and I had to go to Labcorp. So I checked their online system and was able to score an appointment first thing on a Saturday morning for the following week, which was great since I had a fasting blood test. I arrived early before the doors to the building were open (730) but waited in my car as there were dozens of people milling about as walk ins. I entered about 10 minutes later and went straight to the office. Entering the lobby of Labcorp was insane. Every seat was taken at 745 (they only opened at 730 right? I asked myself). I went to the counter checked in that I had an 8 am appointment and found a seat next to the air conditioner that was making it unbearably cold for most people near it. 5 minutes later I was called up to give over my paperwork, id, credit card and insurance information. I sat down and another 5 minutes I was called back for blood work. Usually finding a good vein is an adventure. Normally we have to try both arms and wrists to find something to tap. I said to the provider, left arm, slightly off center, deep but a thick vein. She checked, said she found it and in a second the needle was in with no searching, pain or effort. She took what she needed and slide out the needle. I was done before my 8am appointment time. 24 hours later I have no hematoma or bruising. Helpful hints: * Check online for an appointment. Even if you aren't looking a week out, people cancel up to 24 hours before. You might snag one and they are given preference. * Write your Name, Address and Telephone number on your lab request form. This will make it sooo much easier to get through the process and make the desk people happy (which was important for me since the woman who checked me in also drew my blood). * Leave the kids at home. The lobby is cramped. They can't walk around and will be cranky with the long wait and nothing to do. read more

I had a very positive experience here last week. There were only a few people waiting at 9:50am on a Friday, masked and distanced. My husband had made an appointment via the automated phone system for two people, but only his info showed up in the computer when we checked in. They took him first, then honored the double appointment anyway and took me. Phlebotomist was very kind, patient, and quick! Positive experience overall. read more

This place doesn't even deserve the one star. They do not save your information the first time you come. You have to pay the exact amount that is due. Labcorp - The waiting room - Laboratory Testing Near Me - Silver Spring, Maryland

THE RULE: YOU MUST SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT ONLINE 1ST! You can do that here: https://www.labcorp.com/labs-and-appointments Waiting room is always busy. So if you show up = you wait. Lots of negative reviews for that. Sure, it would be annoying. BUT... Appointments get to the front of the line. I have been many times and always got through the process quickly because I scheduled an appointment. The techs are all very good, like many reviews have said. ONE problem is calling them. I called the White Oak office today to make sure they got my fax? It rang and rang and... After about a minute or 2, it just disconnects. There should be a way to leave a message or something other than disconnection. I tried 5 times! I hope it's just today's glitch, and I'll try tomorrow... Boooo! read more

I have never seen a more busy, crowded, chaotic labcorp office in my life! Smh, I left after approximately 5 minutes. It was so crowded I wasn't even able to get to the receptionist desk to sign in. I could only imagine the wait time! It was dirty, hot, and there was what seemed like a daycare of kids running rampant everywhere; I couldn't even get through the door at first because there were unattended toddlers playing with the door from the inside. If a person entered the office without paying attention, one of them could've gotten hurt! Parents had no control of their children, and the employees had no control of that office. This was the worst labcorp I've been to. Dodge a bullet and go to the Plum Orchard Dr. location 8 minutes down the road; it's quick, clean, and quiet. read more

I have been going to the LabCorp on New Hampshire Ave for years because of its location near my home. Finally, today, when I went the usually abrupt (even rude) receptionists were not present but instead a friendly woman who went out of her way to help people having problems with the kiosk and having an honest smile. Also the nurse who took the blood was polite and efficient. I hope LabCorp makes these changes permanent or at least lets people know when the persons present today (6/7/2019) will be working versus the (hopefully) former individuals. read more

Is the worst, unorganized. Waited for over 2 hours just to get my son blood drawn. They need more ppl working there to catch up to demand

I decided to change my previous review for a few reasons. First, never go early in the morning (they'll be jammed with all the folks who don't wanna fast longer than they have to for their blood work.) Second, make an appointment online. Third, try to shoot for later in the afternoon before they close. I came late on a Friday and was out in 15 minutes. As long as you follow these criteria you should be okay.. read more

Terrible experience. Front-desk staff are not knowledgeable and not helpful. The waiting room is crowded and noisy. And I waited over an hour and a half for nothing. I went at 11:15 a.m. with a prescription for sputum gram type, culture, and AFB. The sign-in sheet asks "lab test or pick-up?" The woman at the desk had no idea which it was. Neither did I. I asked her to check with someone else. As I later realized, she did not. So I sat in the crowded, loud, unpleasant waiting room for 100 MINUTES. Then 3 people at the desk called me over to say they didn't know what an AFB test is (I told them it's for tuberculosis, as my doctor had told me). They handed me 3 specimen containers, gave me inadequate oral instructions, and told me to come back. NEVER AGAIN. I'm glad my cough got better on its own. read more

After reading reviews for the Silver Spring Labcorp facility on New Hampshire Avenue, I was discouraged. Trying to make an appointment and having the automated phone system on 3 different calls go through its menu only to say "Sorry the system is too busy at this time, please call back later." didn't help any. Today I decided to bite the bullet and walk in. To my happy surprise, the staff was friendly and helpful, the phlebotomist did a great job with my usually "jumpy" veins. Didn't even feel the needle going in at all and never got around to opening the book I'd brought to read during the wait. I have no bruising - just a pin prick. The required automated check in confused me at first but a kind man who was there waiting to be seen helped me with the "Not so intuitively obvious" interface. E.g. put in your medicare number on a screen that only shows letters. I got several "Are you still there" messages. Didn't see any way to adjust the font to make things more readable or anything offering help on the display. 5 stars for the staff -1 for the check in system. read more

OK, people who give this place poor reviews need to do their homework. First of all, MAKE AN APPOINTMENT! If you just walk in you are going to have to wait. I always make an appointment and have never waited more than 10-15 minutes. Secondly, if you can avoid going on a weekend, even better! As for the phlebotomists, 98% of them are excellent. read more

Make an appointment and be prepared to pay for your service if your insurance company doesn't cover bloodwork. That's how any medical visit works. I was there and saw people getting mad about signing in and literally giving the techs nothing but grief. I used to work in a medical clinic and I know first hand that patients can really be jerk when the staff are only doing their jobs. When I made an appointment for my dad, I made sure he had his insurance card, and when they asked for a credit card in case insurance didn't pay the full amount, we gave it to them. Folks be online shopping like crazy and giving their credit card or paypal account info but won't give a credit card for their medical visit. Makes no sense to me. I'll visit labcorp anytime my dad or me need blood work. read more

This Labcorp is the worst. I wouldnt give it negative stars if possible. I get my blood work done every month (for medications that I take) and this place never fails to be the absolute worst. Not only is the waiting area always cramped but the people who work here are rude and making the experience inside and out an absolute nightmare. "Ratchet" seems to be an appropriate word to describe the people who work here. They talk about patients to one another right in front of you, roll their eyes and everything else you can think of. The women who drew my blood was quick and sufficient, but again, with attitude. Not sure who's in charge of training or hiring here. But I really wish this wasn't the most convenient labcorp near me. Seriously, patients obviously are coming with there own personal problems already. We don't need to deal with whatever your bringing to work with you. Terribly unprofessional. From now on I will make the extra trip out to another location. read more

Awful. It's a zoo. I went to do a glucose test. They gave me the drink, said drink this within 5 minutes, and tell us when you are done, so we can write down the time for the bloodwork. They wrote down the time. I waited and waited. I was literally sitting in the first seat in front of the window, thinking - they are looking right at me all this time, they couldn't have just forgotten about me. Everyone that went up to the window to check when they would be called was told to sit down and wait. I finally went up to check, and she said 'Oh is it time for your blood work?' I said it's been an hour since the time. They told me it was too late, I would have to come back and do it again. For some reason it was my job to let them know when I should go in the back and get blood drawn, even though they wrote down the right time, and didn't tell me to come back and let them know. I wasted hours of sick time from work, for absolutely no reason. read more
