Needed fasting bloodwork and couldn't get an early appointment for +15 days. This office is less than 2 miles from my house so makes sense to come here. Office opens at 7:30 I got here at 7:15 with only 4 ppl in front of me. They opened on time and we all signed in. They didn't start taking anyone back until 7:45 which was an appointment patient. There are only 2 people working and one of the phlebotomists is also acting receptionist. Seriously mismanaged. Need more staff and appropriate personnel in proper positions. The people that are getting in and leaving are moving through quickly but they are not able to process effectively. read more

My experience was today, 6/14/17. I do not know, Caitlin T, but if you read her review of 10/25/16, that is EXACTLY the same experience I had with the two employees Caitlin cited. I have had to deal with a lot of medical issues relating to doctors/lab tests, etc., over the last thirty-five years and I have NEVER experienced anything close to the rudeness and attitude of these two employees in my life. After two hours of putting up with them and since, under the circumstances, I had no choice but to go to a Quest lab, I called QTC, the ordering agent for the Veteran's Administration and had them obtain an appointment for me at the Quest lab in Newport Beach. With that, I finally got the blood draw that was required late this afternoon. If you consider all the dated negative reviews posted here that share the same common denominator of attitude and incompetence at this facility and the fact that this situation has been allowed to exist unchecked, the obvious conclusion is that this is just simply a reflection of Quest Diagnostic's management---------------as they have demonstrated that they could care less by allowing and cultivating a culture of, "The patients need us, we don't need them"----------- attitude. Under no circumstances will I ever subject myself again to this facility and if you can-----------go elsewhere for your lab work. read more

I had an appointment here today for a blood draw. There were two patients there when I arrived. I signed in and was called a couple of minutes later. A little confusion as one technician, the one that ended up drawing my blood, kept telling me to go into a room that already had someone in it. It actually was more comical than disturbing. She was actually pretty efficient once we started. I was out in about 10 minutes. We'll see how the rest of it goes. The vibe was not very pleasant but I think that's the result of maximizing profits over environment. It's fine though. I'm only reviewing it in the first place because my experience didn't match the most negative reviews and just wanted to add my experience. read more

It's not going to be a super "smiley" experience with chatty phlebotomists if that is what you are looking for. I've been twice during my pregnancy, both times with no appointment, and waited no longer than 15 minutes. The girls are all friendly and efficient. I have tiny veins and I'm a hard blood draw but they get it every time and no bruising. As long as I live near this location, I'll be coming here for all future bloodwork. read more

If only I could give zero stars. They don't deserve even one star. Always a horrible experience. The staff is awful. Where do they find these people and who the hay trains them. They really lack competence, any professionalism and basic common sense. Unfortunately most people are Stuck with them. As a company they are horrible too. Went in today to a glucose test. I was very happy I could get it done and have the results for my doctors appointment. Boy was that short lived. I went in and they started to draw my blood for the before glucose tolerance. After more than a few failed pokes the lady with a Ukrainian accent or something finally got my vein. She then told us to come back in 30 minutes after I drank the glucose liquid. We were confused because usually it takes a whole hour between the tests. We came in after thirty minutes and the lady passed us to her coworker. We asked her to confirm and she said it's fine and brushed us off. After she drew my blood, she then realized what we were saying and then told us to wait 30 more minutes to get my blood drawn again because we did it too early. This sucks, but I was still cooperative and dealt with it. I came back again after the time they said and they told me then that the original first vials were filled wrongly and that we couldn't continue the test due to that. Since I already took the glucose we couldn't restart or even go to another location today. Now, my credit card is charged until they can give a refund and I'll have to miss my doctors appointment as I have work the next couple of days. Thanks for the waste of time! read more

This place has been EXTREMELY under staffed for years now. I don't understand how a place that is so busy has such little staff. Today one person was working. She worked the front desk, then took blood in the back. Usually they have at least two people. Walked in at 9:30am on a Tuesday morning and am still waiting (it's now 11:00am) and still have about 6 people ahead of me. This place is worst than the DMV. I always walk in with a smile and still get major attitude from the staff. Like other people mentioned, I'm sure I would be a huge bitch too if I was as understaffed as this place was haha. Only reason why I'm giving them two stars is because they always find my vein and it never hurts when they do take my blood. Other than that...total nightmare. read more

QUEST DO YOU READ THESE?STAY AWAY!! I've been dealing with this Quest since 7/13 as it is closer to home. I should have complained straight off re:front desk attendant & claims to be on site mgr. But I gave her &cold blood lady several more X's Until this week, I've done a full complaint at which Quest just phoned me, apparently are aware of her laxidazial methods of handling customers life's matters &will be re-training her. OMG...So glad I just read all these reviews. I was stabbed by the Golfball lady as well and hoped it was just a one time thing...I felt dizzy and thought I would pass out. I get blood drawn ALL THE TIME...Chemo destroyed veins and I asked her to use a small needle. When I was not looking she Stabbed me with a big needle and I just about jumped out of the chair in pain. I yelled at her and asked, "what are you doing... I told you to use a spider needle!" She looked at me like I was the crazy one? I told her she should be ashamed of herself! I considered going tomorrow and hoping another tech would be there but after reading all of these posts...I think I will try another lab! Get a new Tech Quest before someone has long term damage and you get sued! read more

Super strange reading the reviews on here because I had a great experience and was in and out within 10 minutes. I talked with the Filipino woman (who was extremely nice) and the blonde curly haired English woman as well. The blonde was the one who ended up doing my blood draw and she was quite chatty and nice. dont go to this one unless you have to. just saw another rating for this place and had a similar experience. I have a fear of needles and looking back on it, I think this place is to blame. I got my blood drawn and right away I knew something was wrong when I started bleeding as the needle was in my arm. It was bleeding pretty bad after as well. about 30 minutes later I had a purple and yellow spot on around the area about the size of a grapefruit. I couldn't do any lifting with my arm for about a week because it was so sore. read more

Worst experience getting blood drawn. First we waited around 40 minutes to even be called back, but then another 30 while the lab tech tried to understand my paperwork, had to call my doctor, and still input the information incorrectly. She couldn't find my vein but tried to draw anyway. Ended up having a panic attack and she had me lay down on the bed so she could try again, still unsuccessfully. After over an hour of waiting and pain, we left for the Laguna Niguel one on Town Center, they are the best but avoid the Monarch Beach one! read more

Literally the worst place to get your labs done. All two workers (a Filipino woman and a blonde-curly haired British woman) are completely rude, unprofessional, condescending, and argumentative.Their attitudes are disgusting (particularly the British Woman's). They do not do their jobs, and will literally leave you in the lab chair to go and do something else multiple times. I left after being there for 2hrs (with an appointment for a STAT order) because of their incompetence. It was NOT busy either. I already talked to management, and they highly agreed I was mistreated and they were not in compliance with any of the company policies. I do not know how they are still in business. I would rather spend the day at the DMV during peak hours than go here again. read more

My 72 year old grandmother went to Quest Diagnostics at the Monarch Bay Plaza in Dana Point today to get routine bloodwork done. For the past 15 years, I or my mother have gone with her and we have always been treated rudely by the receptionist at the front desk; today neither of us could not accompany her, and this receptionist made a point of acting upon this "opportunity" to verbally assault my grandmother to a horrendous new extreme. My grandmother walked up to the front desk (slowly and painfully; as a result of her rheumatoid arthritis, it pains her to walk and she cannot even stand without shaking violently and needing the help of her cane). She wanted to write her name on the clipboard at the front desk so that she wouldn't have to sit down and go through the unnecessary physical pain of getting up an extra time before her appointment. One would think that this is not a huge issue, and furthermore would be encouraged by the staff at a blood test clinic who usually deals with patients of her age, but the response of this receptionist was of quite the opposite tone. The receptionist (I'm not sure of her name, but she has long black/brown hair and a dark complexion) condescendingly asked my grandmother to sit down and come back to sign her name later. My grandmother asked if it would be okay to just sign her name while she was already at the desk. The receptionist's idea of a professional response was to yell at her, tell her that "she always does this" and "she is disrupting the other patients in the room" (there were only five other people in the room, sitting down and minding their own business). She continued to insult her for the remainder of her time in the waiting room. The receptionist finished her rant by taking away the paper from my grandmother before she could sign it. My grandmother was so shaken by this experience that she went home in tears. For anyone to be treated like my grandmother was treated today is an atrocity and I expect some sort of action to be taken so that this employee is held accountable. I don't want her to lash out at my grandmother or anyone else who is simply trying to get bloodwork taken and clearly has their health and other matters to be preoccupied. They shouldn't need to worry about the receptionist at their clinic verbally assaulting them. I expect to hear from Quest Diagnostics within the next several days on what action will be taken. read more

We took my 1 year old son here to get some blood drawn to test for him for a food allergy. My wife and I were nervous since our son absolutely hates to be examined let alone have his blood taken. When we arrived, the place was empty which was good because there was no waiting. The staff was friendly and, although my son cried, the blood draw only took a few minutes and was very smoothly and professionally done. I too hope that Quest management reads this and wants to improve customer service. I started going here because it is close to my house and the co-pays are more reasonable than the hospital lab. I don't think the savings are worth being treated like a house pest. I really don't get it. I always make an appointment, prompt payment, and repeat customer -- so why am I treated so rudely? My doctor had said he had not received my lab work, although my test had been done 10 days previously. His office said they checked with Quest online and found no results. On 1-29-2013 I went into Station #2 in the Dana Point facility for a blood draw. The station was dirty, disorganized and had dressing pieces and other waste on the floor. Having completed the paperwork, I requested the phlebotomist to wash his hands before putting on rubber gloves. I didn't see him washing his hands but I believe he used an anti-bacterial cleanser. Having put on he gloves, he then rootled around in a drawer to ready the necessary vials, etc. for the blood draw spoiling any sense of hand/glove cleanliness!!! I have been having blood drawn for many years---At Quest in Dana Point, Rosalee did one of the most efficient and painless jobs I've ever had. Even though I'm pale, my veins are hard to find and they're rollers, she had the blood drawn by the time I'd "gotten ready." AVOID, AVOID, AVOID. This is my second and last time going to this location (Monarch Bay Plaza). It is absolutely HORRIBLE!!! I had a late morning appointment but decided to go early and see if I could have blood drawn as a walk-in. Waited 1.5 hours (granted, my decision) and finally got in only to be treated like I was forcing the woman to take me to the back and torture me as she dug for a viable vein. (Didn't dare ask her name for fear I would be jabbed to death, but will tell you she is blonde). After sticking me numerous times in various arms and hands hunting for a vein, she finally drew what was needed. I tried to make small talk to lighten the mood during the whole ordeal (even though I was the one in pain), but she would have none of that! Just smug looks and an utter most disgust that I was even there. I began to think, "Did I say something wrong?" Last I checked, "Hi" was still politically correct. I have never in my life been treated so rude by an employee. Busy day, bad day?...Whatever!!! If you hate your job that much, quit and make room for another person who needs/wants a job. I blame upper management since this location is clearly understaffed and has been for a long time, HOWEVER, it does not excuse extreme rudeness by employees. Do yourself a favor and go to a different location or lab for your next blood draw.
