Gunjan ..

I'm so glad we discovered this charming little spot. We tried the vegetarian quesadillas, and they were incredibly fresh and flavorful--made even better by the house-made tortillas. The service was excellent, and it's clearly a local favorite, with neighbors stopping by throughout our visit. It's no surprise they've received accolades for their food and hospitality!

My cousin had recommended this spot since I was craving some tacos, and I thought it was such a cute place! Unfortunately, some of the menu items I had wanted were out, so I got their lengua taco, steak, and a tostada con carne. I enjoyed all of these and the staff was very warm and kind. Next time, I will have to try more of their items including their quesadillas but no complaints for my first visit here!

Some of the best tacos I've had in a while! The ingredients were fresh, and the meat was full of flavor. The tortilla was light but held up well with all the toppings. The salsa had just the right amount of heat. A solid spot for a taco fix!

Great vibes, a vibrant atmosphere and delicious traditional Mexican food! Quesadillas Doña Maty has everything you could hope for and more from a Mexican eatery. The food is freshly made and the staff is warm, sociable and welcoming. Highly recommend if you're in the area!

Fresh grilled chicken quesadilla

Never again It's not about what's missing as my friends hate cilantro and raw onions (latinas so hush) and salsa on side because every single joint makes salsa verde completely different Ok The left big amount of grilled steak is from TACO MIX . I never had an issue there!!! The right is from the place Quesadillas Dona Maty Not my first time but it is my last. They always have extremely slow service (ALWAYS) and look at this portion it's less then half from taco mix. I also refused the chicken tacos I ordered as they were cubes of dried overcooked (pre cooked) chicken breast. I'm not serving that to my friends and they gave me a refund. Luckily I was a few feet away from Taco mix where I already ordered Tacos Carnitas and Tacos Orejas. I just had to order steak to replace the chicken Not sorry I won't be back. 116th street fyi #NYC #tacos #Harlem

Very quick and fast service! One of the best and most authentic quesadilla places in Spanish Harlem with the CUTEST storefront and outdoor seating. Don't sleep on their tacos either! If you're adventurous (or vegetarian) try the huitlacoche --it's a delicacy! It brings a really nice savory/earthy flavor and pairs so well with the melty cheese and corn.

During our visit to New York friends told us we had to check out this place and I'll tell you it didn't disappoint. I completely understand why they've been in the neighborhood for so long. Amazing food and awesome service made this a highlight of our trip to New York! Next time we come back this will be on our to do list for sure...

The good: Quesadillas were authentic and very tasty. Carne enchilada and Chicken Tinga both good options. Really nice people. Not as good: Taco de Huevo wasn't for me (they serve the egg hard boiled). Overall: Solid spot for authentic Mexican food in East Harlem. Would recommend

Gross mushroom quesadilla

Just got all the way home from ordering takeout to find out they gave me the wrong order. I order a steak and chicken quesadilla and they gave me 2 nasty soggy mushroom quesadillas. I'm am so upset. I called many times and no one is answering the phone. They are so lucky I don't live close enough to go back there right now. A waste of 16$

I'm torn about this place. On the one hand, I like to support food cart and hole in the wall spots. On the other hand, I've never had a good quesadilla that had lettuce, and quesadillas are my go-to dish when judging taquerias and other Mexican food places. Everywhere I've seen lettuce in a quesadilla, it's usually a filler that shortchanges you on the carne and queso blanco. In this case, the meat here was just ok, but the lettuce really took the whole thing down a notch

Lunch at Toloache yesterday is Lori's favorite meal so far, and tied for me with Kanyakumari. It's…read morea contemporary upscale Mexican bistro located at 251 West 50th Street in the Theater District of Manhattan. Founded in 2007, and led by chef-owner Julian Medina (who grew up in Mexico City and trained in prominent New York kitchens like Maya and Pampano) along with Chef de Cuisine - Fidel Rodriguez, and Sous Chef - Julian Medina. They have real Mexican food like huitlacoche, and Oaxacan-style seasoned grasshoppers. There is a dedicated guacamole and ceviche bar, and a wood-burning oven. The name toloache is Jimsonweed, a flowering plant in Mexican folklore said to be brewed into a love potion that guarantees anyone who drinks it will always return. For drinks, Lori had the Paloma De Pepino - Gran Centenario plata, cucumber, grapefruit soda, lime, and I had the Margarita de la Calle - Maestro Dobel Diamante, cucumber, jalapeño, lime. Both were excellent, and perfectly balanced. Toloache has one of the best guacamoles we've ever had, and they made it fresh and customized it for us. Cilantro tastes like soap to Lori, and each of the three guacs listed it. Also there is a mild traditional, fruta medium, and rojo spicy. We wanted traditional but spicy, and without cilantro. That's what we got. The accompanying chips were better than most as they were the perfect size, not greasy, and strong enough to not break. With the guacamole came a Roasted Tomato salsa that was spectacular. It has roasted tomatoes, chipotle, onion, cilantro, garlic, and a "secret ingredient". It is medium spicy. I'm going to try to figure out how to make this one. Lori loves Fajitas, which are course Tex-Mex, but they make it with Prime NY Strip Steak, and it is amazing ... and huge. Two could share this for lunch. I had the Enchiladas Borrachas - pulled chicken, tomatillo-5 chiles salsa borracha, Mexican cheeses, crema, and avocado-radish salad. This was a delight with great layers of flavor - smoky, moderately spicy, slightly tangy, with a lot of richness from the cheese and crema. The shredded chicken was tender, savory, and relatively mild, mostly there to carry the sauce. When you eat this, be sure to put a slice of the enchilada on your fork, and then with your knife scoop up sauce and pour it over the bite. It's so flavor-packed. We LOVED Toloache, and highly recommend it.

Visited with a reservation on a weekend evening and the place was packed. All seats upstairs and…read moredownstairs were filled except one table, which was reserved for us. I noticed a few people standing outside the restaurant waiting for a table and were less prioritized due to no reservation. Ordered Platos Fuertes Carne Asada, and Frutas Guacamole. Unfortunately I do not remember what my friends ordered but they did order tacos and noted how bold the flavors are and how delicious they tasted. Guacamole was not too spicy, but perfect. Carne Asada dish was smoky and savory. Overall, recommend!
