Decor + seating

I've ordered talking tacos a few times via delivery app but I figured it was time to visit and eat in store! The atmosphere was trendy, casual and had lots of neon lights. It was a chill vibey environment with great music. This store in particular was a bit small, doesn't have many tables or seating. The whole restaurant was also neon so it looked like everything was glowing! Cool to look at but hard to see my food without my phone flashlight. They have tablets to order to your own food/drinks and the staff will bring your food to your table. Service was very quick and food came out hot. The tacos themselves are very delicious but extremely rich. My fave thing was the guacamole! It was salty and fresh. My fave tacos were the Caribbean carne tacos. I never thought to put maduros on my tacos!! It may seem simple but it was creative to me and I enjoyed it a lot. The quesabirria was okay, I wish the consommé had more flavor, it was kinda flat and oily. I would definitely go again when I'm in the mood for tacos. They also have taco Tuesday deals!

Food is flavorful and cooked to order. Interior is clean and the staff was friendly. The only thing g I did not like was the self service ordering system. The shrimp and Mahi were fried perfectly. Interior is inviting and has a cool vibe with reggaeton playing. Sabrina was Excellent!!! Very attentive and excellent

Everything's alright with the flavors, but it's way too UNJUSTLY OVERPRICED for Mexican food. The birria tacos are tasty, but the carne asada is a little bland for me. The horchata is tasty as well.

I definitely will be talkin about these tacos! I absolutely loved Takin Tacos so much! I would absolutely recommend this place. This place has some amazing nachos, that is bursting with flavor. The nachos also has so much stuff in it, from beans, guacamole, and tomatoes. And the portion sizes are really big, I was able to take a lot home for leftovers. Essentially, this place is so colorful, festive, and vibrant! They also have alot of halal options as well. You order the food through a kiosk, and the food comes out really quick. The place also wasn't really crowded when I went which is good. The customer service was pretty good at this place. The only con I would say is that it is far from train stations, from the nearest train it's like 15-20 blocks away, but it's near a lot of buses. Price: $14 Rating: 9.5/10

Thursday Steak Tacos Carne Asada Talkin' Tacos | Best Mexican food in Town in Washington Heights with creative tacos and fry-stuffed burritos. Definitely and absolutely phenomenal, the Steak Tacos Carne Asada ever has for the longest time! Each taco is indeed handcrafted with fresh ingredients and sourced bursting with flavor. Along with an ice-cold fruiti mango lemonade drink, in this hot summer. Great lady hosts amazing service, environment is clean, and beautiful ambiance decor.

This place has the best tacos in the area. I've tried many menu items here and everything has been delicious. The bang bang shrimp tacos are very tasty. I also like their street corn nachos, quesadillas, and taco salads. It has a hip vibe with cool artwork and good service.

Cali Burrito

Excellent Cali chicken burrito with French fries in the burrito. The chicken was tender, everything flavorful. I'm glad I sat there and ate because there was a selection of Talkin Tacos hot sauces that added a lot to the burrito. Not sure I would get the street corn in a cup again because it tasted like it came from a can. At least make it from frozen corn. You can always taste it if corn came from a can despite all the cheese you put in it.

Caribbean Carne Tacos

Talking tacos is a cute taco spot uptown. The decor is pretty. They have kiosk where you can place your order either to go or eat in. The restaurant is not huge but they have seating at the counter and i believe at least 5 tables. The birria tacos were good and so were the achiote chicken tacos. All of he tacos were cold so idk if that's the vibe there. I prefer my filling hot. The nachos were goooood. The tortilla chips were crispy and salty. I'm not a fan of the avocado cream it was sweet. I would go back to try the birria ramen and there burritos. The staff was very friendly.

10/10!!! The Bang Bang shrimp tacos are juicy, and full of flavor, making the price feel fair. The music, bright colors, and quotes on the wall create a welcoming vibe. The menu offers a great mix of classic and authentic dishes, giving everyone something to enjoy. Whether you're stopping by for a quick bite or hanging out with friends, Talkin' Tacos delivers a fun atmosphere.

Super clean and vibrant!! Fast and easy pickup service! Ordered at 2:17pm and got it at 2:30 pm ! Ordered the 3 taco: birria, southwest chicken & carne asada! Birria was 12/10 super good, moist and seasoned well! Southwest chicken was super yummy and something i've never gotten before, carne asada was fricking good. So getting it every time i'm in the area. Also got the esquite and so yummy but too spicy for my liking.

Caribbean carne taco, steak al pastor taco and mahi mahi taco
Sam C.

Halal tacos spot in the Heights. This seems to be a Florida based chain that is expanding its reach. I had the Caribbean carne taco, steak al pastor taco and the mahi mahi taco. The mixture of ingredients made for an enjoyable lunch. The tortillas tasted good, but I would prefer two per taco. Plenty of steak was given on each taco. I would have liked more fish on the mahi mahi taco, as I had a few bites that were all cabbage. I wouldn't call this authentic, as there was a certain something that is central to Mexican cuisine which this restaurant does not offer. However, if you are looking for Florida/California style tacos, this is a worthy option.

I ordered the steak taco and this was amazing !

The staff are professional and friendly . Great food great taste and the presentation was great! I will Be back soon again.

Tortillas are made to order right in front of you, and the whole experience just feels authentic and joyful. I had the steak and pork tacos, my friend got chicken -- we went back for a second round. That says everything. A few tips for first-timers: -- Don't sleep on the quesadillas. Seriously. -- If you like crispy tortillas, order the tostada -- they deep fry it and the result is incredible. -- Get the Horchata. It's not overly sweet and pairs perfectly with the tacos. The staff is 10/10 friendly and efficient. Don't be intimidated by the line -- it moves fast. Case in point: on a rainy morning, there was already a line at 11:01 AM (the place opens at 11). People know what they're doing here. The atmosphere is relaxed. They have nice, authentic music playing at all times. Highly, highly recommend.

We had our usual list of spots in Midtown East, but this time we wanted something a little different. We ultimately landed on Mexican, however even then there were several spots to chose from. One of my colleagues found CdM, and since we had nothing to lose we decided to check it out. In terms of physical space at CdM, there is very little; this is actually a walk-up spot hence it is solely a takeout restaurant. The menu is pretty straightforward - lots of Mexican staples with a good variety to choose from. The burrito bowl looked good so I decided to go with that - I was given choice of protein (I chose pastor) and types of beans (I chose black). The bowl was really good - all the ingredients tasted fresh and they were generous with the portion. They added sour cream to the top of the bowl and it came with a side of salsa verde which I thought was a nice touch. We also ordered some bags of tortilla chips to share - these were my favorite kind as they were semi-thick and super crunchy. Overall, I had a solid experience at Cinco de Mayo. It definitely hit the Mexican craving spot and I would have no qualms returning for another meal.

The birria tacos were really good (or so my son said) but sadly the taquitos were terrible. They literally just had unseasoned shredded chicken (but serves me right for ordering something so basic). The energy was flat, and that lack of enthusiasm carried right into the food. The menu needs a complete overhaul. I'm not sure if it's trying to be "different," but the taco options were unappealing just from reading the descriptions. I managed to choose the two best-sounding items I could find, and honestly, they were so bland I don't even remember what they were. The setup and decor were basic. This spot could be a fun hangout, but it would take a better menu and staff who actually seem to care. It feels like just another restaurant that's lost sight of creating an actual experience for guests. The lack of vibe is obvious--if you don't want customers, just say so. I'm giving 2 stars out of respect for the fact that people have to work for a living.

I had to drink my frozen Patron Margarita standing up until a space at the bar open up after 20-25 minutes. Once seated, my area wasn't properly cleaned. I felt awkward and uncomfortable. I reluctantly ordered fish tacos with mild guacamole but was given spicy guacamole. The fish tacos were a little cold. The service was rushed. I left without ordering another drink or more food. Personally, if it wasn't for the drinks and the space, I cant say this place is worth it - you're not coming here for the food. Another little complaint I have is the women's restroom on the second floor - right by the door is a floor to ceiling mirror which I understand was included to make the space seem bigger, but my friends and I agreed that it is a little misleading - I kept wanting to walk into it thinking there was more space there and not wall. I would recommend maybe putting a decal on it to clearly show its mirror.
