Stopped by this breakfast spot this morning for a quick bite and I can tell you that I wasn't disappointed! We both got the 2 for $12 Honey Biscuits w/Turkey Bacon. When I tell you, that biscuit ain't close to the word "dry". That biscuit was so good, it literally melts into your mouth. It also has a ton of flavor! The lemonade is homemade and you can tell. If you do not like seeds in your lemonade, do not get it. I don't mind, I like having to bite the little seeds lol. It was an alright lemonade, but definitely wouldn't get again for $6. There is seating in the establishment and everyone is incredibly kind. This is a place I'd say gives a community vibe, and through their actions it shows that they care about their customers. Queen's Delight is a place I've been meaning to come back to in a while. Now how did that all start? Well, let's turn back to May 28, 2023, my only other time coming here. That day, I was coming home after doing a 5k race in Wilton that was followed by swimming 4800 yards. Insane, I know, right? Of course, this meant I had needed something to eat, and it took me a bit until I had found out about this. Last time I had a Queen's Supreme and I remember that being supremely good! Of course, I am a commuter, and so I don't really get an opportunity to come here. I have more chances to just take a bus to New Haven and get something to eat there, and we will get to why in a bit. So Queen's Delight is a hole-in-the-wall cafe that gets rather congested inside, so it can make even ordering from here rather unnerving. Actually, when I went this morning, I was followed by a reservation party of 11 people. Wanna know the seating capacity in this restaurant? I counted. 24 chairs in all! That means there are people who come here that will basically take up half the restaurant in reservations! Yep! You heard that right! Another drawback this place has is the wait time. I placed my order at 10:31 am today. It's made-to-order I wanna say? Probably why it wasn't until 10:53 when I actually got my order. The wait time last time was long as well. That means that if you are taking the train, you should only come here if you are starting or ending in Bridgeport. If you are switching trains, you risk missing your connection coming here. Thankfully the place itself is close enough to the station that out-of-towers can find where you are. This bit is why it took till now for me to even come back at all, and I probably still wouldn't even be typing up this review right now if that flood back in August didn't reduce the Waterbury branch down to exclusively bus service. But thankfully, just about everything else about this place is worth the wait and congestion, another reason why this review is even going to exist at all. Like I said, the Queen's Supreme was insanely delicious, and today's order which were these red velvet waffles and chicken with some homestyle lemonade was equally as good. The frosting, syrup, and overall flavor was pretty sensational if I do say so myself. Another thing I like is that you get to scan the QR Codes for the menu and they play music while you wait. I Shazammed the songs that came on during my visit and I've had the likes of Montell, Tamia, Gina Johnson, and Janet Jackson serenade the place. As for the customer service, it wasn't too bad, but I would like to note 2 things. One, I had to remind the employees that I had ordered lemonade as I had the receipt texted to me so I had it on hand. Secondly, it looks like a family-run restaurant which is fine. My only thing is that at least one of the people behind the counter there looked way too young to be an employee. I have noticed some family-owned businesses do things like this so that the kids of the new generation can get some good work experience. But yeah, maybe it would be worth my while to educate myself on why this goes on. Overall, this is really more of a 3.5, but it's closer to a 3 than a 4 because at the end of the day, the wait time means that this place will require you to be patient if you anything that's worth your while. Came here on a Sunday afternoon. The food is presented well. I thought my boneless chicken would be more flavorful; it was fried good, but a little on the bland side to me. The home fries could have been a little crispier, it just needed a sprinkle of salt; overall it was tasty. I didn't notice the red velvet waffle would come with all that drizzle, a little sweet for me, could have been crispy, it was soft. The table had a syrup dispenser that was broken and sticky. The QR code holder was also grimy. Something is off about the ambiance here; I wanted to leave before I was even done, because it felt stuffy and hot. The bathroom felt musty too, no type of air circulation. The service was dreadful, didn't realize we had to pay at the register until after waiting long. Walked right in and was seated right away on a Sunday around noon. There's street parking in the front and a parking garage literally right across the street if you want covered parking (I think it was $6 for an hour) Great service and AMAZING food! There are 8 tables in the front and may be more in the back, but it's not a big restaurant so I would expect some wait times depending on how busy they get. The food is SO worth it if you do have to wait. I've seen a few reviews with complaints about wait times, but this isn't a McDonald's. It's a small business that makes ready to order food. I brought my husband here for brunch yesterday on the 61st birthday. I ordered the food paid for it left the tip in advance and sat down. My husband asked to use the bathroom and we were told the bathroom was out of order . So I asked the cashier's last waitress what did she do when she wants to use the bathroom she needless to say this is absolutely unacceptable told me she goes home when she wants to use the bathroom which is simply ridiculous . I have chrons disease, and my husband had radical prostetomy surgery, side effect frequent urination. We've learned even able to wash your hands before our meal. Once we were told that the bathrooms were out of order we knew that there was no way that we could dine in so we asked for our food to go . The cashier waitress didn't let us know that the type of meal that we ordered was not available to go only dine in . So I can't use the bathroom I can't wash my hands but you want me to sit here and dine in because of what I ordered ? This place was very subtle and the food was good without a doubt! Please try it! I'm going to start with the cons because you will eat here because the food is good lol The parking is street parking and it's quite horrible but atleast it's free on the weekends. The setup is small this isn't your typical breakfast spot they only have a few tables and they also take reservations so be mindful if you just walk-in. The food wait is long (again the food is good do not miss out) they are a small business and everything is cooked to order so even if you plan to dine-in I would call and let them know your on the way and want to put your order in. We waited an hour and 10min before we got food, order placed at 11:55 and came around 12:58, so keep this in mind. Now let's get to the pros because this food was so good and the GRITS are the best part thick and creamy 10/10. I also had the chicken wings and fries 10/10, seasoned and not over powering and they have the good restaurant fries. We had tried the strawberry cheesecake waffles too sweet for my liking but 9/10! OMFG!!! I'm a lemonade connoisseur and that was the reason I'm going back that strawberry lemonade sweet as hell but I added some water to my cup and toned it down and it tasted like HEAVEN! Perfection in food form! Don't run walk, RUN to Queen's Delight. This black owner business is deserving of all the things! I first tried QDC through their catering services. The fried chicken was a crowd favorite at the gender reveal, so the following day I visited the restaurant to try more of their yummy eats. I visited on Easter Sunday around 12 noon, and the wait time was around 20 minutes since QDC is on the smaller side. Not only are they serving dine-in guest, but prepping ton of to-go orders for pick up and 3rd party delivery. The batter they use for their fried food is so good! It's airy, crispy and not oily. Everything is seasoned well, and the food portions leave nothing to be desired. You'll get your money worth, and then some. This is not my 1st. time at Queen's Delight but this visit was a little different but before I get into that, let us begin with the smell of some good food from the moment I stepped foot into the establishment. What was already out being devoured by their customers looked delicious and I was only here to review the Chicken and Waffles but my eyes begged me to order more and really go hard. I placed my order and went with the original waffle with the bone-in chicken option. I would say that I had waited for roughly 23 minutes and that was fine, simply because I know that the food is made to order here and I do not mind waiting for fresh food over someones (sitting there) options. I also ordered a side of beef bacon for they do not serve pork and I had my eggs fried hard with slices of American Cheese on them and so let us break this down! My eggs were cooked to near perfection and the cheesiness connected in a smooth velvet like way where it slid down with great flavor and a crisp to the edges of my eggs. I was a happy camper. Now for my 1st time having beef bacon, I will say that though the flavor of smokey and salty was nice, it sure was greasier than most pork options out there. Beef bacon also has more chew than a pack of bubbalicious and so I wasn't thrilled with the bacon but it was ok. My bone in chicken came fully equipped to play with my emotions. Exterior was nice and golden brown with a crispiness to the bite. Hot and moist was the chicken itself and cooked thoroughly. There was even a hint of sweetness in the batter, which kept me looking forward to the next bite. Even the Belgian Waffle itself was made with a sweet batter. The powdered sugar sang a seductive song to my tastebuds with its own sultry sweet notes and each bite was soft with minimal chew. Add in a touch of maple syrup and it adheres well for this breakfast melody of musical mayhem. My only gripe would be coming into a cafe and seeing a dessert station that was empty. Add on sales are always great for any small business.....it's always good to ensure that visual sales piece with bright lights has something for the customers to talk about and more so if it is right upfront by the register. Also, be sure the closing shift is doing their part to ensure the place is ready for opening. I noticed syrup stuck to the pouring glass and that the salt and pepper shaker also needed to be wiped down. The table next to me needed a good wipe down as well. Small things like this can and will be noticed by others, simply because when people go out to eat; they want to make sure their surroundings are well kept. It shows the pride that is taken by the staff and always hold them accountable for they too are being paid to do their job and help where needed. read more

We both had the Stuffed French Toast with Chicken Wings and a side of Grits. The grits are so creamy, delicious, and rich. I always get a side of grits because they are soooo delicious. The Stuffed French Toast was delicious and rich but there was a bit much cream inside the French Toast. I thought it would be sweet but it was not overly sweet but to much cream in the middle but it was delicious otherwise. The wings were seasoned to perfection and hot when they came out. So excited for this new black owned business in Bridgeport! The ambiance and customer service are really great here. I was excited to try their red velvet waffles and fried chicken after seeing all the photos On their IG page. The presentation of the food is beautiful! The waffle was super moist and the chicken was perfectly crisp! I'm giving 4 stars because although the food was good, it was overly salty. Salty to the point where I needed to drink a lot of water to wash it all down. I usually love salty food, but this was too much. The grits in particular were hard to eat because of the amount of salt. Also, the food is made to order so expect to have a longer wait time. I definitely plan on returning, and hope that the management takes this into consideration. They are a great small business and they seem to be busy with lots of takeout and deliver orders, so good for them! read more

I was not too thrilled with this place! First I drove an hour to get here and when I arrived they told me it was a 40 min wait for seating even though there was an open table. They informed me the table was for a reservation. Then I asked how long it takes for an individual to claim their reservation the waitress told me 15 mins. I proceeded to ask how long the wait was for take out and she informed me 40 mins. Frustrated and upset I proceeded to leave. Shortly after My wife calls and they tell her it is a 10 min wait. We went back and was seated immediately. The food was ok but not to the expectation that I was hoping for. I waited for me food for almost an hour! This is my third time supporting this business and this is the first time I actually ate in. We came early on a Saturday morning before they got too busy and the first thing that I noticed was the front counter was dirty and sticky. Kind of a turn off. The woman at the register asked someone to clean off our table where I watched him rub a questionable towel across the table not moving a single item placed on the table, just wiping around them. He also failed to dry the table leaving wet nasty dirt streaks. When I sat at the table with my fiance I noticed that the salt pepper shakers were dirty and sticky as well as the syrup on the table and hot sauce. They also had a little table center piece where you can scan for the menu that was also sticky and dirty. The way I watched him clean the table in front of me let me see their standard of cleaning was questionable. First time I went inside, they had just opened so the confused decore and ghetto floor plan got a pass, i was just so happy to see someone make it and manifest a dream. Almost two years later the cafe just looks dingy. The fact that i know they now have two locations and one of the more popular spots i am wondering how the money is building up this business as the inside is not recommended. Take your food to go as it is flavorful tho i was not a fan of my waffles. We ordered the shrimp and grits, the fruity pebble toast with chicken, the red velvet waffle with chicken, the challah french toast berries with meat and eggs. Everything we ordered was amazing. The fried chicken is crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. You heard the crunch when you took the first bite. The challah French toast was my favorite, my son liked the pebble French toast. Been trying to eat from this establishment for a bit now, but due to inconsistent hours, random closing and Failed attempts of finding a menu online. But the day is finally here and after waiting well over an hour for my food I can inform the wonderers. I kept it easy and ordered the chicken & waffles and a side a scrambled eggs w/cheese; and a strawberry lemonade. ( like I previously said very hard to find a menu to order ahead) The waffle I have to admit was on the money, freshly cooked, warm, easy to cut and not to sweet. The eggs, not hard to ruin were pretty good the almost $5 price tag made them hard to enjoy. The chicken on the other hand was a-little to heavy breaded/floured for my liking which meant you were biting into a crunchier crunch that left a trail, which isn't my preferred liking of chicken. First wrong vibe. When I walked in I stood at the counter waited for someone to acknowledge me 3 people visible NO ONE says ANYTHING. Yes, per all the other reviews the wait is long. BUT the food is well worth it. I thought the service was good and the place was cute but small to dine in and thats a big reason for long wait times. People that were ordering take out seemed to be out fast. Now the food here though is nothing short of great. The red velvet waffles are perfectly fluffy and the cream cheese frosting that came with it was just the right amount of sweetness. The chicken is nicely seasoned and crispy. My favorite was definitely the steak, bacon, egg, and cheese. I am definitely coming here again. Id love to try their lunch selection. Yaaaas, Queen! We tried Queen's Delight Cafe for takeout and we really liked the food a lot! We got the two honey bacon egg and cheese sandwiches and a waffle with chicken and split it between the two of us. It was plenty of food and the ingredients all were super fresh and tasty! The bottom of the biscuits were really moist from the honey (slight turn-off on the texture leaning "soggy") but the bacon was crisp and tasty. The waffle was so good and the perfect crush/soft balance. And the wings, goodness. The wings that came with the waffle were soooo good. The seasoning was delicious and the meat was perfectly tender.
