I went in with my niece to have a girl's mani-pedi morning. Even with an appt they couldn't service us together so we could chat easily. I ended up skipping the pedicure so I could sit with my niece. For my manicure, I asked for one repair and a color change. When she started working on my cuticles I reminded her I just wanted a color change. She gave me a hard time, finished my cuticles and charged me for a full shellac manicure. As she worked on my nails, she commented that my previous shellac job had too many coats. Soon after the manicure, my shellac polish started peeling - revealing my brittle nails which then chipped. I believe she put on too few coats. My shellac polish has never peeled off like that before. I went in to give them the opportunity to fix the poor job. I had a 2:30 appt. At first, she tried to deny she did my nails. Then denied she had my color- even though I had their bottle with that color in my hand. Then she offered to file the bare nail down and put another coat on - which would make my nails too short. Then she offered to put another coat on to hide the bare nail, which would look funny and then peel off again. She didn't want to make it right. I decided to get my nails done properly elsewhere. I only went there the first time because they were able to take my niece and I on short notice. By the time I left, it was 2:50 and I had wasted 20 minutes giving them the opportunity to fix a poor job. I will not be back. I much prefer Lynn at Mercer Nail & Spa on the south end. read more

We are on our third visit over the last few months and really enjoy coming here. The ladies are really nice and do a great job. The location is clean and bright. We haven't ever had to wait more than 15 minutes after walking in without an appointment. I wish that they turned the jets on and used disposable liners for the pedicure basins. Thu was efficient, polite and friendly! The pedicure included a lengthy massage too! There was a large variety of colors to choose from which is always a plus. The salon was clean, spacious with nice soft music to listen to while in the great massage chairs. Which lets be honest, are half the reason to get a pedicure! Please do not come here if you're looking to get a full set. I asked for a set of French tips, which I thought is pretty simple for a nail tech. She did not even file down the tips after gluing them onto my fingers, and the acrylic does not even fit my nail shape. She made my nails look fat and stubby after I had asked for almond shaped nails. The lady also kept pushing me to add different services, like an extra $15 for a gel coat, which has always been included at every other place I've been to. This place is also really particular about not including tip in the debit transaction, which is really annoying. Overall, not worth the price at all, so I would not recommend coming here. read more

I am new to the island and I went in to get cuticles cut and full set for my anniversary. I adore Thu! I've been coming to Queen Nails for my shellac manicure the past couple of years. Thu always does a meticulous job and I appreciate that her shellac top coat comes off more easily than most other salons. I don't like the foil wrap method of removal; she does an acetone soak and the shellac flakes right off. Besides her attention to detail, I appreciate her directness and warmth. I keep coming back despite having moved down south; she always does her best to squeeze me in even if I fail to make an appointment. read more

I have been using Queen Nails for the past 10 years for pedicures. My daughters initially bought one for me as a Christmas present. I now go and get both a pedicure and a manicure about three times a month. The service is always impeccable the staff is professional and friendly, and it's one of the things I look forward to on a regular basis. I was VERY DISAPPOINTED. I had booked mani/pedi for my best friend and I far in advance. They took my name/phone number when I booked. We showed up a few minutes early and were sat in chairs for the pedi. After 30 MINUTES they finally started (!!!) While we were sitting there 4 other people came in that had appointments and we ALL were waiting for them to help us, but walkins were told "just five minutes" and had to wait long too. They rushed through our pedis and then we waited another 20-25 minutes before they started our manicures. For $38 combined, I wish they would have spent more than 10 minutes on a manicure. We were told "well the ladies before you had an appointment." When I stated "we did too" they were confused, but HAD CONFIRMED WE HAD AN APPOINTMENT WHEN WE WALKED IN. (so not sure why they were confused.) Only 3 people working for 8 (sometimes more) customers was ridiculous. I wish they would have called and said they were understaffed that day - I would have MUCH rather gone somewhere else. Also, there's no TV and the magazine selection is VERY outdated. I don't know. I think I'm spoiled in Chicago. I was in town on business and was heading to the airport but realized I actually had an hour to spare so when I passed Queen Nails I decided to drop in. After all in Chicago I am typically in and out within an hour for a Mani and Pedi and I only needed my toes done on this particular occasion. There were only two gals working when I arrived and they were finishing up with their customers so I soaked while I waited and caught up on the very important deets of the TomKat divorce. Their polish selection was rather grim - no Essie and an assortment of OPI colors but none of the collection favorites. Once things got started it was a down hill ride headed straight toward pedicure disaster. The girls were nice enough but as more people came in rather than tell them to come back they'd seat them in the chairs and proceeded to bounce from person to person administering a scrub here, a half assed massage there. At one point my right food was rubbed rather weakly and then left propped up while my lady went to paint someone else's toes before returning to me to rub the other foot. And as if that wasn't disconcerting enough, they only used one coat of polish. It was hard to relax because I had to keep checking my phone for the time. It took 50 minutes for a pedicure that could have been completed in almost half the time. It was only 20 bucks so I guess you get what you pay for in this instance. It appears they are under new ownership now and have changed the name to Envy Nails as well. When I got home to Chicago I removed the polish immediately and repainted them myself - the sure sign of a pedicure gone terribly wrong. Someone mentioned a Groupon while I was there - good luck my Groupon purchasing friends. May your experience be better than mine...by a lot. read more

I came here for a pedicure and saw they had 5 clients with 2 people working. When I asked if they had time for a pedicure (and they said yes) I thought there must be a third person working somewhere. Nope. They decided to do 6 (and eventually 7) clients at once. The pedicure itself gets a solid okay. I didn't care for the lotion they used on the massage as it left my legs kind of sticky which grossed me out. They did a nice job on the nail polish though. I've determined that nail places always say they have room or time for whoever walks in even if it will take more than an hour for a basic pedicure. read more

Second try: odd experience with one woman hurriedly trying to do 4 pedicures and a nail gel customer at the same time; she was very (understandably) distracted, and my feet got cut several times when she wasn't watching the nail scissors closely. Third and final try: I arrive at 4:45, there's a single customer in the shop waiting for her nails to dry, and I'm told "I'm busy today, come back tomorrow?" (They close at 6). Never again. There are often times when I go after work and there is not a soul in sight and it will still take over 20 minutes just to get a basic eye brow waxing. Gosh, I really wish I could give Thuy and her fellow employees more stars. I like them, really I do. And I live so close by. But... - If you have an appointment, you might have to wait because they never say "no" to any walk-in, which means they may get slammed and your appointment time goes out the window. - If you walk-in, they'll always take you. But that may mean they work on one nail, run to another customer, then come back to you, and then go away again. You get the picture. Frankly, it's never relaxing here. - Shortcuts, shortcuts, shortcuts. The manicures are not really detailed and sometimes downright sloppy. If they're in a rush, they'll cut the time short including basic hygiene stuff. - They take plastic, but get grumpy when you use it. Ladies, if you take it - take it. If you don't want to pay the fees, then just state you are a cash only business. - Lastly, I love hearing them speak in Vietnamese. But interacting with customers once in a while would be nice. Horrid. Unfortunately I live close so this is one of the only places around. I have been getting 1-2wk fills on acrylics for 20 years now. I've been there maybe a dozen times and I swear the owner (assume that's who she is) takes pleasure in "accidentally" drilling your skin next to you nails. I typically get a fill and not only do they do the usual push for more business on top of what you are in for ( you want pedi too? You want design?) they charge top dollar for a replacement nail or a french. They also say ya, one minute and you typically wait at least 10 or 15. Bottom line though, I'm looking down at my nails and the sides of the skin next to the nail is chewed up. Part of doing nails is to relax and to feel pain and be scared she will hit skin every time is just not fun....btw, atmosphere and cleanliness is yet another thing all together.... read more

Ihave been here 3 times now. 2 pedicures, one full set, everytime I go in they ask if it is my first time there, then talk to each other in a language I don't understand. They do a good enough job, which is why I went back. They are expensive for what they offer, I have gotten a lot more included in my pedicure for less than 25$ at plenty of other places, maybe a 25$ pedi is considered cheap on the island, I'm new to the area so I don't know. The first time i went there, i asked if they take debit cards they said yes, no problem then threw a FIT when I included tip on my debit payment. They are kind of rude and unprofessional, but close to my apt. I will try to stick to the place close to my work from now on. read more

Been going to Thu for over 10 years. I have acrylics and get a fill. Sometimes a pedi. Almost always on time for appointments. Great job, manicure lasts for at least 3 weeks although I should be going in more often. Prices are very reasonable. Staff at every salon asks if you want upsell services. No problem if you don't. Have you ever been to a hair salon where they DON'T try to sell you product? Parking is easy. Place is clean and bright. Easy in and out. Definitely recommend. read more

I've been going here for over 10 years. They've always treated me well. I've tried other Vietnamese nail shops but I like this one the best. They now offer shellac for $30, which includes removal of previous shellac (unlike fancy salons that charge even for that!). I took my mom to a down town spa and paid $50 for her manicure and $70 for my pedicure. Im very satisfied with queen nails, so I'll continue going there when in the neighborhood :). I've been to many different nail salons and this place by far does the best quality job with a shellac manicure that actually lasts a really long time and doesn't chip like other cheap places. The price is worth the nice quality and experience since they've been there for years, so they know what they're doing when it comes to beauty treatments. I will not go to this nail salon ever again! First, to take off my existing shellac polish, they had me soak my fingers in a bowl full of acetone for 26 minutes! The salon worker kept saying, "just one minute more!' For 20 of those minutes. Finally, I just took my dried, cracked fingers out of the acetone and began removing the polish myself! If that's not bad enough, she CHARGED me $3.00 for the removal of my Shellac polish! I couldn't believe it! The Shellac polish cost $30 which is definitely on the high side and I have lumps in the polish and missed spots on a couple of fingers. Really, the worst manicure I've ever had. read more
