When I called about the orange disaster, she wasn't apologetic and didn't offer to fix it. I had to press for this to happen and then she offered days and times that only worked for her. I received the first cut and color from Anna that I am unhappy with. I hate leaving this review because I like Anna as a person and I know she's capable of excellence, but she did not go the distance this time. She usually uses an electric razor to get the back of my bob even but she skipped it this time, resulting in odd pieces sticking out underneath. I also asked for black dye and received a dark brown with red tints. For reference, I always color my hair with blue black, so the difference is noticeable. I also spent a long time at home after the cut working on getting my right side even with the left side this time. Anna told me it looks uneven because the way my hair lays, but I'm not willing to walk around with an uneven looking bob because of the way my hair lays. I think it's the job of the stylist to fix that. I was really hoping I could keep coming back here forever but that won't be the case, unfortunately. read more

I stopped by here on a whim when I was close by. I had needed a haircut for a long time but because of the pandemic, my previous salon closing and general laziness, I had just put it off. I called ahead to confirm they were still open and had time for a walk in, and was able to be seen right away. One of my complaints is that there are no prices listed for women's services anywhere. (There are for men's.) When I had called ahead, I had asked to try to get a ballpark idea of how much it would cost, but was told starting price on the phone. The price I paid ended up being higher than the starting price I was quoted, which isn't unusual, but since it wasn't listed anywhere, it felt like they could have charged me any price, told me it was due to skill set of the stylist or complexity of my hair, and I would have to trust them. In terms of pricing, it is a bit high for the type of salon it is. I was generally happy with my cut but you really are paying for the location/convenience and not the ambiance. The salon is clean but not fancy, by any means. If you live in the area, definitely stop by for the convenience and to support a local business, but otherwise, don't go out of your way to come here if you live closer to a nicer salon. The price won't be vastly different but the experience could be. read more

I know the owner/hair stylist before she started Salon 106 (about 7 years). I continue to see her b/c she is just that good and she does a great job in giving you the haircut you want (I'm Asian and have straight/heavy hair). Both hairstylist here are great (Anna and Tina). They occasionally have a male hairstylist (Tao?) that helps as well and he did a wonderful job on my girlfriends hair. About $25 for haircut. If you don't mind the drive into Mercer Island, it's well worth the trip. I recommend to anyone; however, I especially recommend to Asian guys who have hard to cut hair or anyone who is particular about their haircut. read more

Each time, I had an excellent haircut that met my wife's expectations--not too short not he sides or in front. I read the review from the lady whose mother had a bad experience with Lee. Lee did a great job on my hair but I'd suggest that ladies have their hair cut by either Tina or Lee since there is a bit of a language barrier with Lee. For guys, Lee is great. Okay I'm frustrated and I need to vent Today I had set up a hair appointment for my 94-year old mother at salon 106 on the south end of Mercer Island with Tina and I cannot believe what happened. They set her up with a guy name Lee that really couldn't speak English with her and while washing her hair he completely soaked her shirt, when curling her hair he got the Curlers stuck in her hair and Tina had to come over and pull them out and it took an hour and 45 minutes to do her hair. Which does not look good. They never apologized when I went into talk to them about the problem. Really sad. I understand every business has problems but they should've apologized or taking care of the issue. Guess who won't be going back. Update So here is an update from 4/23/2015 Betsy b....Guess what...today they wrote an apologetic card and gave my mom a gift certificate for a hair cut and curl.
