$360 for foil highlights on shoulder-length brown hair, but they turned out bright orange instead of the light brown I showed in photos. Tina cut three other clients' hair while my foils were processing and left me under the heat way too long. Their website lists foils starting at $180, so the price also felt like an overcharge. When I called about the orange disaster, she wasn't apologetic and didn't offer to fix it. I had to press for this to happen and then she offered days and times that only worked for her. I ended up going to another salon in Bellevue for color correction and toner, where the stylist actually focused only on me. Won't be returning. read more

I received the first cut and color from Anna that I am unhappy with. I hate leaving this review because I like Anna as a person and I know she's capable of excellence, but she did not go the distance this time. She usually uses an electric razor to get the back of my bob even but she skipped it this time, resulting in odd pieces sticking out underneath. I also asked for black dye and received a dark brown with red tints. For reference, I always color my hair with blue black, so the difference is noticeable. I also spent a long time at home after the cut working on getting my right side even with the left side this time. Anna told me it looks uneven because the way my hair lays, but I'm not willing to walk around with an uneven looking bob because of the way my hair lays. I think it's the job of the stylist to fix that. I was really hoping I could keep coming back here forever but that won't be the case, unfortunately. read more

Salon106 - The brown and red hair color at my roots in comparison with the rest of my black hair. - Hair Salons Near Me - Mercer Island, Washington

I'm going to this salon for many years, and I'm extremely happy with my experience. But today Tina went above and beyond, even though it was too late and she was closing up but she stayed longer for color correcting my hair and put extra effort for styling my hair. She is truly a professional and listens to what you need and goes the extra mile to make sure you're happy with your look. read more

I have been going to Tina for several years for my cuts. She always makes me look fantastic. I have had several different looks, short and mid length, edgy and conservative. She is great at all of them. read more

I stopped by here on a whim when I was close by. I had needed a haircut for a long time but because of the pandemic, my previous salon closing and general laziness, I had just put it off. I called ahead to confirm they were still open and had time for a walk in, and was able to be seen right away. One of my complaints is that there are no prices listed for women's services anywhere. (There are for men's.) When I had called ahead, I had asked to try to get a ballpark idea of how much it would cost, but was told starting price on the phone. The price I paid ended up being higher than the starting price I was quoted, which isn't unusual, but since it wasn't listed anywhere, it felt like they could have charged me any price, told me it was due to skill set of the stylist or complexity of my hair, and I would have to trust them. In terms of pricing, it is a bit high for the type of salon it is. I was generally happy with my cut but you really are paying for the location/convenience and not the ambiance. The salon is clean but not fancy, by any means. If you live in the area, definitely stop by for the convenience and to support a local business, but otherwise, don't go out of your way to come here if you live closer to a nicer salon. The price won't be vastly different but the experience could be. read more

Just the best. Men, boys, women or girls, young and old, highly recommended. My wife and I hav been cared for by Tina.

Received a terrible haircut, the stylist did not listen to my request about just trimming my hair, but instead she made it blunt and choppy. My hair looks completely different from what it used to when I came into the salon. When I asked her to fix it, she didn't do anything and my front pieces are completely uneven. I can't even get it fixed because it would be too short. There was a lack of communication and knowledge of how to cut hair. Very unhappy with this service and will not be returning. read more

My experience here was amazing. I came in with 3 different colors of self Covid coloring and the times before Covid19 when Gene Juarez totally messed it up. This salon is a hidden treasure! Thank you- Vivian for your eye to detail and knowledge. read more

I love this place! Tina and Anna have been on Mercer Island for over 15 years with a steady stream of returning customers. Their prices are better than most places and they consistently do a great job! Both are friendly and seem to know everyone who walks through the door by name. Can't beat that! In addition, they seem to know how to cut and style all types of hair. Mine is curty and often frizzy. Tina knows what will look best and hold up over time. Give this place a try if you haven't yet! read more

I've been here many times and always pleased with the haircut - and the staff are super friendly

Vivian! I can't say enough great things about her! They fit me in same day because I have an event coming up. I had 2 year worth of long grey covid hair. I have not been this pleased with a color EVER. I always look light in my grey and dark at the root. She is AMAZING! read more

This salon is fantastic! Anna was so patient with my very wild two year old son while cutting his hair. He loved sitting in the red race car chair! They also provide toys to entertain the kiddos. Anna somehow managed to give me perfect brows while my son sat on the waxing table, amazing! I was so impressed with the professionalism and expert advice from Anna. I went back to the salon today for a root touch up, highlights, low lights and a trim. I showed up with brassy red/yellow blonde hair (a mess) and left with a beautiful, NATURAL light auburn look. I am so happy with the entire experience at Salon 106! read more

My three boys and I have been going to Tina, Anna and their fill-ins for 17 years. I can not recommend them enough. Nice when you can tip them with cash; with COVID they took a bit of a hit and are bouncing back. read more

I know the owner/hair stylist before she started Salon 106 (about 7 years). I continue to see her b/c she is just that good and she does a great job in giving you the haircut you want (I'm Asian and have straight/heavy hair). Both hairstylist here are great (Anna and Tina). They occasionally have a male hairstylist (Tao?) that helps as well and he did a wonderful job on my girlfriends hair. About $25 for haircut. If you don't mind the drive into Mercer Island, it's well worth the trip. I recommend to anyone; however, I especially recommend to Asian guys who have hard to cut hair or anyone who is particular about their haircut. read more

Anna and Tina give great haircuts (well, I'm a guy, so take that for what it's worth). I've been going here for several years - they are both delightful and very flexible for those of us with uncertain schedules who can't plan days in advance for an appointment. Reasonably priced and good quality - also good for kids. read more

I have used Salon 106 three times in the last 8 weeks, the first with Tina, the second time with Anna and the third time with Lee. Each time, I had an excellent haircut that met my wife's expectations--not too short not he sides or in front. I read the review from the lady whose mother had a bad experience with Lee. Lee did a great job on my hair but I'd suggest that ladies have their hair cut by either Tina or Lee since there is a bit of a language barrier with Lee. For guys, Lee is great. Having a convenient place to have your hair cut on the South End of Mercer Island is super. read more

I went to Tina for a trim and highlights. It was my first time getting any color treatment done on my hair, so I was very nervous about it. She was patient in listening to my concerns and recommending a color to me. She took her time on my hair and made sure I was happy with it before I left her salon. She did an amazing job. That's what I call superb customer service. Thanks again Tina! read more

I have been going to Salon 106 for many years. So have my husband, children and grandchildren. They do a great job with color, cuts and Brazilian Blowouts and I receive many compliments on my hair thanks to them. Also, the rates are extremely reasonable compared to other salons. I have always been impressed by the respect and kindness that Anna and Tina show to their patrons, including walking elderly patrons to their cars. I highly recommend Salon 106! My entire family has been going to Salon 106 ever since they came to Mercer Island about 10 years ago, Every one of our family members (husband, children and grandchildren) appreciate the great service at this salon. Not only are Tina and Anna great at what they do but they are also extremely thoughtful, nice ladies! They really care about their clients! I can't imagine anyone ever giving Salon 106 a bad review (and there is just one). I suspect there was some misunderstanding for that to happen. read more

Okay I'm frustrated and I need to vent Today I had set up a hair appointment for my 94-year old mother at salon 106 on the south end of Mercer Island with Tina and I cannot believe what happened. They set her up with a guy name Lee that really couldn't speak English with her and while washing her hair he completely soaked her shirt, when curling her hair he got the Curlers stuck in her hair and Tina had to come over and pull them out and it took an hour and 45 minutes to do her hair. Which does not look good. They never apologized when I went into talk to them about the problem. Really sad. I understand every business has problems but they should've apologized or taking care of the issue. Guess who won't be going back. Update So here is an update from 4/23/2015 Betsy b....Guess what...today they wrote an apologetic card and gave my mom a gift certificate for a hair cut and curl. They must have thought about it and realized they were not being very smart. That was nice but I doubt if my mom will go back. read more
