I found Queen Nails soon after moving to Gainesville last year and still consider it one of the best undiscovered places in town. In fact, I'm hesitant to write a review as I don't want anyone else to know how fabulous the family is -- the business is truly a labor of love. You get to meet mom and dad, Nancy and Henry, and daughter, Angela, who is working her way through nursing school, and a loyal band of customers who would never go anywhere else. The shop reminds me of "Cheers," where "everyone knows your name." Their work is incomparable, and they are proud of it. The sign says, "Walk-ins welcome," but I recommend making an appointment. I am from out of town. People at this at this place were very rude and instead of saying "sorry, we are completely booked, but we will gladly give you a later appointment time". They started by saying "we don't have time" and "you'll have to come back" and started talking to each other in their language. Not coming back here at all!! Am I being too picky? This place is clean, which I very much appreciate. My pedicure was okay. But neither member of the couple who appear to be the owners smiled once, or even greeted me - and yet it was clear that they do have a basic command of English, and a smile surely crosses all language barriers. Maybe they were having a bad day - it happens to us all. However, I was also disappointed that, despite a lot of little bottles up their on the rack, their color selection of Opi products was very limited. . They have a sign saying they prefer people to make appointments, for which I don't blame them, and another sign reading "closed Tuesday." (I'm not sure if that is every Tuesday or just one.) To be fair, I will give them a second try and hope to be able to add a star to my review. When I was there at 10:15 on a Wednesday morning, I was the only client, and no one else came in until 11 but based on previous reviews, I think I'll call and make an appointment next time. (Later update - the polish started to lift after two weeks, something that hasn't happened to me in several years. Cost them a star.) read more

I came here to get my nails done before my wedding, bringing along 4 family members and my maid of honor. We outnumbered the staff by a few people, but the owners were friendly and accommodating. The equipment is all clean and well-maintained, and the prices are very reasonable. Plus, while I normally destroy nail polish within a couple days of application, my nails still look fantastic 5 days later. This is definitely worth the drive to the edges of Gainesville. read more

The service here is outstanding: meticulous, clean, and conscientious when it comes to assessing skin types and nail thicknesses before work begins. As proof of the superior quality of everything that the owners provide for their clients, they use an appointment system and end up turning away business on high traffic days. I am glad to schedule ahead, because the manicures easily last two weeks before they start to show wear, and the pedicures last even longer. I have tried several other places since moving to Gainesville, and Queen Nails is the best. It isn't the least expensive, but the owners can charge what they do because of their attention to detail and expertise. read more

Very rude owner!! I called before coming over on a Saturday because of a recommendation and he was rude to begin with, but still decided to pay them a visit well I get there and he was still very rude. Sat me down for 10 mins and then had me select a color and after deciding on the color he stated that it wouldn't turn out good. The place is also a MESS by the way! Not my favorite nail salon I've been to in town. I recently moved and wanted to try some place closed to my new home. I didn't like off the bat that they don't take walk-ins for the most part due to their short staff (three people). I normally just walk-in when I have free time to get my nails done and don't like having to make an appointment every time. I had two different people who did my nails, as the owner said they each "specialize" in what they do. I got acrylics with polish on my hands, which I do not like. They're wider than I normally have them done and also very thin, so I'm afraid I will break them more easily. They feel very flimsy. The polish is not very clean either and could have been fixed at the end but wasn't. My pedicure was alright, nothing special and it was done pretty quickly. Overall I paid $55 plus tip, $30 for acrylics and $25 for the pedicure. I have had my nails done for less and they were better quality. I will not be returning and looking for a different salon to try next time. read more

Small, family owned salon. I always get a smile and great service. I have been to more upscale nail salons, but I love the welcoming atmosphere here over the other places. Very reasonable prices for high quality work. I get the pedicures and shellac manicures. read more

Horrible service! My friend and I were looking for a good nail place to get our nails done for our school dance later that night and when I saw great reviews for this place, we were eager to try it out. We called ahead for an appointment and when we showed up, they didn't even notice we walked in! We had to wait for about 30 minutes until they finally greeted us and started the water for our pedicures. After we sat down, it was about another 20 minute wait until someone came to do our nails. Because they had wasted our time by making us wait so long, we were now pressed for time to be done so we could still have time to get ready and be on time to the dance. The people that did our nails worked so slow and were very lazy even when we told them we were in a rush. They didn't seem to care and the other workers were not polite to us at all. Their kids were also running around laughing and screaming and the workers payed more attention to them than they did to us! We finally finished with an okay paint job and got out of there as soon as we could. Overall, the hospitality is greatly lacking, they were not organized at all, everything they used did not appear properly sanitized, and it definitely did not provide a welcoming environment. I'm definitely never coming back again and I would not recommend this place to anyone who wants a friendly and relaxing place to get their nails done or anyone who has places to be afterwards. read more
