My wife and I are currently on a challenging diet: gluten, dairy, and sugar free. While we were looking for a Tulsa restaurant we could enjoy with my in-laws in the area, we happened upon Que Gusto. We decided to try this Ecuadorian restaurant. The gluten-free options let us feel like we were eating regular food again while sticking to the diet plan. We even got to enjoy a chocolate tart dessert that used dark chocolate and dates, whipped to taste like a chocolate mousse. My wife can't stand dates, but loved every bite of the tart. We loved our meal so much that we came back on our anniversary for a delicious meal within our diet. This place is great whether or not you're on a tough diet. Stopped in between the Woody Guthrie and Bob Dylan center for lunch. Staff was very polite. We got the Beef and the Pork empanadas. The sauces were a nice complement and the scotch bonnet flavor stood out with out being too overwhelming. My only problem was the dough on my beef empanada was not crispy at all more like a tortilla. Than after tasting my empanada my wife wished she had gotten the beef as well. The wooden blocks the sauces came in were novel but we ended up removing them to access the sauces more easily and set the wooden blocks aside. The Yuca fries were pretty good as well but some of the fries were in very large pieces that would have cooked better if cut thinner and seemed a bit undercooked. I took my wife here for the first time so that she can try it and we came before we got into the first Friday activities downtown. I forgot to take a picture of the empanadas, but all of the food that we purchased was top-tier. I love how the space looks since it was built out in expanded because it serves so many more people and gives so much more of a sophisticated experience. They were busy the night that we went so our food didn't come out as fast as I would have liked, but regardless of how busy it was, the food was great and the service was spot on. I continue to go back to Que Gusto not only for their amazing food, but the continued outstanding service. With the updated renovation of this restaurant, it adds more seating, a full bar, and really makes this spot stand out! I always enjoy the slow roasted pork sandwich with Yucca fries as a go to, but there is one thing I will not sway from and that is this tiramisu. I thought I already did a review, but maybe not! I am not an empanada connoisseur, but I have had my share around Tulsa. I really enjoy these because they are unique and so fresh! So many fillings to choose. Everyone is so kind here and get you what you like. The food is made to order and they are always efficient. They recently expanded so now there is plenty of space to sit inside (or outside if weather permits). Very clean and modern feel. Recently went to a meeting and Que Gusto catered lunch. I tried a beef empanada, the yucca fries, and the quinoa salad. All of the plates and tableware were totally recyclable. Cudos to them for that! I loved the yucca fries and the quinoa/black bean salad. The salad had some great spice with smoked paprika (I think). I was not a huge fan of the empanada though. The crust was good; it was the filling that I didn't love. The green sauce and the spicy ranch were great though. This experience does make me want to go try the store front! read more

Had an hour before meeting up with friends and decided to stop in one of my fav downtown spots! Their entire menu is delicious but the arroz con pollo is still the go-to every time! It's so good - I can never remember to take a picture before digging in... hence the halfway enjoyed pic this time. Make sure to allow yourself the time needed to enjoy it - cook times will be longer than most are used to, but the quality that is delivered makes it worth it! If you are on a time crunch, then make sure to order ahead online or call for pickup! I'll often get it for carry out, make the commute to my office on the other side of downtown and it will still be warm (plantains do a great job of holding the heat). Along with their tried and proven regular menu, they also have great seasonal selections and delicious desserts in their case. Various drinks are available in their cases, along with the fountain sodas. However, their fresh juices of the day are always going to be a refreshing and delicious choice! On top of having a wonderful menu, as well as a kind and welcoming staff, they also are very health and environmentally conscious - so if you're a fan of eco-friendly dining that is also still functional, they've got you covered. It is a cute place but visiting on a summer evening it was pretty warm with the sun hitting the restaurant. The should add some fans. Counter service or kiosk ordering. As it was our first time we ordered at the counter. The cashier was not the helpful staff I have read about in other reviews. We had several questions about what was in some of the menu items and he provided as little of information as possible. We decided on what to order, paid and filled out self-serve fountain drinks. When the food was delivered by the same cashier, he said that one of the entrees we ordered wasn't available so they substituted with something else. Not asked if that was okay, just announced it. When we asked what it was it had plantains which I reminded him that we were very particular about what we were ordering and didn't want plantains. I said if we don't like it can we send it back. He said we would like it but my husband didn't want to try it so he asked for something else. The beef empanadas, yucca fries and yucca bread we had were all very good. Our friends also ordered the house salad that they said had a good dressing and the chicken empanada. They thought the chicken had more flavor than the beef. We had more interaction with the sane cashier regarding ordering dessert with not much more success. We will go back solely for the food (4 stars) and not the experience (3) read more

Que Gusto is a lovely little Ecuadorian spot that serves homemade empanadas and warm plates along with their fresh arepas. I got arroz con pollo and an arepa since it was my first time trying this place out. The girl working the register was super sweet & patient with me while suggesting what to add to the arepa (mayo chicken & avocado) and food was served rather quickly. I have been telling some friends about this place in hopes they will get to enjoy a delicious plate like I did. Also, this is just a block or two away from Guthrie Green which is nice if you need a filling small bite or plate nearby. Ps. This location has street parking only. The location is small with maybe 5-6 tables inside and an outside covered patio. I love that there was a gluten free option but be prepared to wait 17 minutes for it come out (they will tell you when you order). The yucca fries with the chipotle mayo were so good. The gluten free is thick like a pie but still good. I wish there was a no cheese option. It was quick to order even though there wasn't a formal line and people were checking in who had ordered so it was a little confusing to determine who had ordered and who needed to order. read more

The empanadas are good, but the wait was tremendous and there is limited seating inside, but they do have outdoor patio seating. This is next to Lone Wolf. But - it's the only game in town to get your fix, so I will wait. It's nice that they have vegan filled empanadas. They are relatively big vs a small empanada app. Think hand pie sizes and Midwest portions. I think I'll go back for some of the other side dishes. Also - Friday/Saturday = ceviche days but it's a little pricey around $20. read more

I wasn't a huge fan but it wasnt bad at all. I'd definitely go here again! Highly recommend! It is a little small inside so it's probably more ideal for picking up your orders to go but we were able to sit down and enjoy our food and 2-3 others were sitting inside eating as well. There's a plethora of latin-American restaurants in Tulsa. However, Que Gusto may be the cutest one of them all. This eatery has been on my list for quite a while as it's location is hard to miss and the buzz seems to be never ending. I met up with a special friend for lunch on February 8, 2024. After a quick jolt from my downtown job, I arrived around 12:15pm on a Thursday. I've often passed the place and noticed their outdoor/sidewalk seating. I got in and I was surprised to see how quaint the inside space was. There were four, maybe five tables in total with enough room to sit 10-12 people maximum. There were about 3-4 people there (which you notice considering the square footage) However, I don't need much space to operate. The large overhanging menu jumps right out and the cashier is unavoidable. I ordered the Arroz Con Pollo with a House-Made Juice (Mango & Passion Fruit). The House-Made Juice is worth the price! It's tangy and potent. Plus, the drinks are self-serve! The food didn't take long and it was quite fulfilling. The rice was soft and the vegetables were light. The chicken was pretty standard but the plantains were wonderful! They had a glaze that shined on the crispy outer-layer while the inside was soft and sweet. The serving size wasn't as hearty but it packs a delicious punch. I was primarily there to chat with my friend but was surprised at how comfortable I found myself. Though the inside space isn't abundant, the theme of the eatery seems to be quality over quantity. I spent about $20 but I still took food home and I got a refill on the juice. Overall, I think Que Gusto is an excellent option for a weekday quick lunch or weekend meetup on a beautiful day. I can't wait to go back! read more

Food was 10/10. Everything looked and smelled delicious on the plates I saw walking in so I was indecisive. First I ordered the empanada and switched to the arroz con vegetales. The lovely cashier was so nice about it. Let me tell you baybeee the vegan chorizo they put in the rice is the perfect addition. I would've loved it spicier but that's just a personal preference. It was well seasoned. The mixed vegetables were well done and the plantains on top was the bomb. Cute nook in the inside, and enjoyed watching the sunset from the outdoor seating area. We ordered our food to go and called our order in. Glad we did- the wait time was 20 minutes. My friend had been in the week before and had ordered the vegan empanadas and said they were amazing. Also said we couldn't miss the fries. She said when she went last time she asked a lot of questions and they were very helpful and answered all her questions and verified everything would be vegan. The vegan breakfast empanadas come with vegan cheese, spinach, organic tofu and organic soy chorizo. We both said we wished it had more filling. Like more of the spinach- we both felt it was salty- we never add salt to our food, so maybe this was just the chorizo that came across as salty. We really liked the yucca fries and ate most of them on the drive home. The empanada was for brunch the next day. We didn't eat a lot of the shell- feeling that it was a lot of breading. Came here on a recommendation. Various different ceviches were being served. I had a sandwich and it was very good - big enough for two people. I also had an empanada - it also was good. Went back on a Saturday and had the fish and shrimp stew - it was delicious!! Comes with a side of rice, avacado salad and a fried plantain. This is worth it!! I was glad I had the chance to try this place out as I love empanadas! While here, I got their pork empanada, and it was a little pocket of heaven. Compared to other empanadas, this one was like the size of two put together. They gave you a fork and knife to eat it was and the insides were so good. Y'all I am such a sucker for Que Gusto. If I could eat their empanadas and yuca fries multiple time a week without my husband getting annoyed or concerned, I would. While he may not be a huge fan of empanadas, I have been my whole adult life. My freshman year of college, I dated a guy from Argentina and he would make empanadas all the time for me. Once I became an out-of-college adult, so many of my friends were Latinas from Argentina and Venezuela and they would make empanadas. I guess for me, empanadas are nostalgic for more care-free times, but they are also SO GOOD, and Que Gusto slaps. I co-work a few blocks away, and I'd say that on days I go to the office, there's about an 80% chance I'm getting Que Gusto. There is not a ton of space inside, but I think most folks take them to go based on location and proximity to so many offices. I've never struggled to get a spot to sit either inside or out, but I would never come here with a group of folks expecting to all sit and eat together. I do not eat pork, but the chicken and the beef empanadas are both so well seasoned every time, without being overly salty or anything. They are quite large, and one should be enough if you get a side. You must try the yucca fries and get the chipotle mayo sauce to dip them in. I think Que Gusto is a great spot for lunch if you are alone or with one or two folks, or even to get it catered for an event. This is one of my favorite places to get dinner downtown. It's not too committal if you want a quick bite and not a full service meal. One empanada is big enough to fill you up, and they have delicious sides. The yucca bread is so unique and delicious. The fried plantains are sweet with a little crisp. The patacones are crispy and salty smashed plantains. The yucca fries are a delicious unique version of a fry. I have a hard time picking! We also tried the milhojas dessert and it was delicious!
