I enjoyed my visit. There's ample street parking and a few spots on the side of the restaurant but I can see it being a bit difficult to find a nearby spot if it's a busy day. It's tight indoors but I saw two medium size parties (about 8 guests) who were able to sit together at a table. The hosts were pleasant and seem to be really helpful. The mussels were a perfect start. The bread is soft. The white wine garlic butter cream sauce looks thicker than it is but it has a nice flavor. They only had medium crabs during our visit but we went ahead and put in the work to get our crab fix. There were a few light/close to empty crabs so that wasn't great but it wasn't a huge deal. There is a full bar - I enjoyed my simple strawberry daiquiri. Frankie was on point with checking on us and making his way to his indoor and outdoor tables. I like that there is a standalone sink available to wash your hands instead of having to go into the restroom. The restrooms are on the lower floor/basement area at the bottom of some steep steps. Thinking back to the steps, I'm not sure how accessible it is for those with mobility challenges. Overall I see why this is a regular spot for my friends and locals and I'm happy I came to visit. After reading some of the second reviews on this restaurant, we decided to go back to see for ourselves what could be the problem. Server name: Matt Arrival time: 8:43 PM The inside and outside were packed as usual. Everyone was having a fantastic time. We ordered our usual -- crabs and fish and chips for dinner. Once again, the crabs were huge (when they should be medium only) and piping hot. Not only was everything great, but we also got to watch the LA Dodgers baseball game. This place is worth its weight in gold. We sat in the same section as before -- what a déjà vu moment -- and like last time, we had an amazing experience. This time, I paid attention to the staff and the camaraderie between them. Everyone was helping one another, and even the manager was working the floor, clearing tables and keeping everything flowing smoothly. The kitchen staff read our message, and they timed the crab order perfectly to come out with my husband's meal. It's the subtle things that mean so much. Matt was very attentive to our table but not overwhelming -- we were able to enjoy our food without needing to seek his attention. The only negative thing would be the parking. However, while we waited outside for a few minutes, we noticed that many people were being responsible and arriving and leaving via Uber. I would rate this restaurant a 9 out of 10. Trust me when I say this would have been an easy 10 if not for the parking. Been many times, great neighborhood crab spot. It's like a dive bar so it's great for a super casual lunch or dinner. The crab legs are always tasty and fresh, and everything else I've eaten here has been tasty, especially the mac+cheese and hushpuppies. This is a no frills shack with a large patio with dozens of tables of folks hammering away at crabs. Come here for the crabs, and only the crabs. Other items we tried were awful. The spiced peel and eat shrimp were so dry, it was like they were under a heat lamp for hours. I felt cheated. The haddock bites and fries were also quite disappointing and had a freezer burnt taste. So trust me and stick to the crabs which were fresh and excellent. Drink prices were quite reasonable however, you should plan on at least $100 per person. Despite the bustling atmosphere, the service was exceptional. The hostess whose name, unfortunately, I cannot recall, was particularly welcoming and attentive. The mini crab cakes are a standout and come highly recommended. It's definitely not the typical crab cake with a bunch of filler and very little crab. This, you TASTE THE CRAB. We actually preferred this over the blue crabs. The chilled shrimp was a refreshing addition, especially with the hot weather. The blue crab was flavorful and satisfying, while the snow crab, though slightly on the salty side, was still enjoyable. Both, however, took a bit of work. The mussels were also quite tasty. The chicken wings were especially memorable, perfectly crisped edges that added great texture and flavor. Even the kids pepperoni pizza was decent. I would definitely recommend checking this spot out. We went for dinner and went back the following day for lunch.
