I enjoy Quan's for takeout. There is a variety for a decent price. The delivery is also pretty fast. The only disappointment is the crab ragoon which do not really have much crab (imitation or otherwise) in them. Other than this, I can't complain. The food is always hot when delivered. read more

Had dinner here tonight. The sushi was very good. I never had a roll with rice paper before which through me off guard because as often as I eat sushi (about once a week) I had never tried rice paper before. I was a little reluctant to try it because I wasn't sure if it would be like soy bean paper which I don't like. To my surprise I really enjoyed it. The texture was good. The reason for my 4 star rating is because our general gau chicken tasted low grade. The batter was thick and soggy...it resembled fat. I wasn't a fan of it at all. We had the sushi on our first visit which was great. This visit we ordered from the regular menu which was a disappointment. How can you make lo mein and kung pao chicken with no flavor. The kung pao vegetables weren't even cut like this dish is normally made and it was packed with nothing but hot peppers. My fortune cookie says go somewhere else for good Chinese food. read more

I had a party of 11 last night at the Hanover location. I just received a couple of emails from those who attended and they made very clear that they were EXTREMELY pleased with everything. Our thanks to Quans for making this family get-together so much fun! - Julie helped me order the lobsters and decide on the correct quantities of appetizers. She also answered many questions including ones about vegan items. I thought the desk help and waitresses were superb and everyone who attended agreed. Great service from all! - Oh, and the food? Awesome! I chose to put appetizers on the table that those who attended would probably never try on their own. I made it clear they were optional, they could order anything they wanted. The appetizers disappeared very quickly, they were a big hit! The guests now know there's more to Quans than egg rolls and pork fried rice. Especially popular were the beef satay and shrimp tempura, both were superb! Everyone there (except the vegan) already liked the jumbo fried shrimp but after trying the shrimp tempura they agreed they preferred the tempura version. I ordered some Yu Ysiang eggplant for the vegan & one of the vegetarians and they thought it was great. So did I. The group tried many things and there were no complaints about any of them. The pots of jasmine tea were very popular and we finished with Mango Bombas for dessert (mango & passion fruit sorbet in a white chocolate shell). We have always been a fan of Quan's Kitchen, although I have noticed the quality of the food has been inconsistent recently. Tonight we intended to order food from them and give them another chance, however when we called we were told they were unwilling to make substitutions in order to accommodate allergies. I went here with my parents and fiance the night before Christmas. The food was decent but the service was horrendous. Granted this is a busy time but the restaurant wasn't that overwhelmed! Our waiter told us more than eight times he was very busy. He never brought it, so we ended up having to ask the sushi bar for a sushi menu and had to ask the hostess for another round of waters (after he ignored two requests). Perhaps the worst offense, however, was when I approached him at the register and asked if I could take care of my party's bill. I wanted to subtly pay the bill before it came. He said no! He was too busy to take my money! I explained I wanted to do this subtly and he said he would come to me when HE was ready. So that was a bust. My fiance still hadn't received his entree by the time we were ready to leave. The waiter said the kitchen forgot to make it and offered to take it off the bill. When we said we still wanted it, he produced an entree and claimed it wasn't ours but he "stole it from someone else." Perhaps he was going for a hero card. Not that we cared, but we never received fortune cookies. I thought we just had a bad egg, but when I asked for my coat from coat check, the woman told me to get it myself because they were "too busy." I said it is great for them that they were so busy and she said she wished they "could just lock the door from now until New Years" because they hate being so busy. Bottom line-our waiter was a miserable person and potentially a liar. The coat check person couldn't be bothered to find my coat. Quan's kitchen hates customers, hates taking your money. After reading some of the first reviews on this newly opened Chinese restaurant, I was a little set back to see not many are willing to give this place a chance to "get it together". I've never been to any of the Quan's Kitchen's restaurants before but I will certainly be back to this one! They make fresh, delicious food that is better than any other Chinese restaurant in Hanover. The service was superb. No sooner did we sit down and there was someone there to take our luncheon drink order and to provide us with the most unusually decorative tea pot filled with delicious hot piping tea. As other servers walked by, they too made sure our tea cups were always full and immediately went back to the kitchen to get us another pot when they were near empty. Our luncheon special orders were quickly written down, repeated back and off to the kitchen they went. Most Chinese restaurants serve up their luncheon specials within 5-8 minutes after they are ordered. Not so here. Everything was made FRESH and made after the order was placed and not "sitting around" waiting for someone to order it. Our meals came out in about 10-12 minutes (well within the "norm" ) when you're getting GOOD FRESH FOOD. Be prepared to take a doggie bag home because the portions are large. Everything was beyond our expectations, the price was very reasonable and the service was the best. The owners came over to our table to ensure everything was OK. This restaurant has the utmost in atmosphere and the building has been COMPLETELY gutted and re-done. No more "Cubby's Clubhouse!" It is absolutely beautiful with dark woods and gorgeous Chinese vases and furnishings. I think the "start-up" woes are behind them and I highly recommend you visit. Went to Quan's last night with a few friends. The food here can be summed up in one word... BLAND. The chicken curry sauce tasted like that little packet of powder you get in Raimen noodles, minus the salt. Too bad, because I think it would have tasted better with more salt. The pork fried fice was more of the same... bland. very little pork or any veggies in it at all. The food deserves 1 star, but gave it a second because it was nice inside. read more

I wish I didn't have to even give last nights sorry excuse for a family dinner any stars. First off, we were there with a big party. As our party arrived, people ordered drinks from the server. It was slow in there. He told us it would be easier to go and get our drinks from the bar. What? Next, my boyfriend ordered sweet and sour chicken. It arrived and was breaded chicken fingers that were about 75% breading served with a sticky pink goo with canned pineapples and maraschino cherries. My chicken cashew was cold. I will never go back. Just came from trying Quan's for the first time. First things first the Hot and sour soup... to die for! Clean fresh ingredients no heavy thickeners very spicy. The best I have had, next to homemade! I would go back just for the soup! The decor is beautiful with gorgeous framed photography ( Photos taken by the owner himself WOW very talented guy!) We went for lunch so just looked at the lunch menu and quickly glanced over the rest. We felt happy with the selections available. I ordered the Kun Poa chicken with egg roll and my husband got the Orange Chicken with crab rangoon. The food was clean tasting with subtle and fresh flavors, not drowned in sugary or high sodium sauces! The egg roll (my favorite style) was cooked perfectly as were the rangoons (not saturated in oil yay!) clean and flavorable. The owner came over and introduced himself chatted a bit and very graciously for no particular reason sent an order of the beef satay to our table, on the house! It was delicious! Six skewers with five or six bite size pieces of marinated beef grilled on a each one, tender and tasty not over marinated very subtle flavors served with a spicy house peanut sauce. Great experience, lovely and gracious service, I recommend you give it try. read more

Beautiful place, but the service was mediocre and the food was terrible. Ordered orange chicken and got fat and gristle wrapped up in batter that tasted like frozen chicken parts. The rice was flavorless and crunchy - either undercooked or leftover from yesterday. The waiter was disinterested in our party in general. I had planned on buying a gift certificate there before I went in and was glad I tried it before I wasted anymore of my money there. Just terrible food. read more

I eat there for a 2nd time (I first went there right after it opened and vowed not to return). This trip was not better. Chicken with broccoli and beef with asparagus were tasteless. Beef loi mein also had no flavor and all dishes were a little warm at best. The only positive was the décor. On the receipt the have a survey and filled it out w/comments. I asked the waiter if they read them and he said he was not sure. For this restaurant, it's 2 strikes and you are out. read more

I don't get the reviews posted here. We ordered takeout from Quan's and the stuff was probably the most tasteless Chinese food I've ever eaten. We were given a free order of pepper steak that no one would eat after the first bite. The sesame chicken tasted like it was made with pressed chicken - yick! Two days later the ample leftovers are still in the refrigerator because my kids won't eat them. They'll be tossed out today. I've had plenty of Chinese food from many many places and this is undoubtedly the worst. I'm not fooled by the furniture and decor. Last night I celebrated my 50th birthday at Quan's in Hanover with 21 other members of my family. Unfortunately, we were also joined by an extremely loud and obnoxious party of about 10 diners seated almost on top of us. We chose a 6pm reservation time hoping to avoid any chance of a rowdy dining room considering that our party had a diverse age group ranging from 14 to 79. We knew pretty soon after we ordered that we would not enjoy any dinner conversation because of this other parties' rudeness. Not only did they continue to add diners to a seating area that could not accommodate them, but they also continued to hoot and holler like a bunch of drunk spectators at a sporting event. I addressed the situation with Mr. Quan who preferred to ask the offending party to tone it down. This actually incited them to act increasingly disrespectful. When it was obvious that this only exasperated the situation, our table was extended on the opposite end away from this party and several of my family members were moved. I guess it was the best solution to a difficult problem, although 8 feet didn't really make a big difference. We would have preferred the other party be asked to leave. Instead, we continued with our celebration, ignoring the juvenile mocking and taunts from the lowlifes from the other party. What could have been a wonderful milestone in my life was more like a middle school cafeteria where the stoners bully the nerds and the principal just watches, helplessly. Mr. Quan needs to understand that if they continue to allow offensive behavior from patrons like I encountered last night, that that's the only type of customer they will ever have. I will not book another large party there again and suggest other diners do not either. Had I been there with a smaller party, I would have got up and left. The one bright light of the night was our server, Bruce. He did his best under the difficult circumstances as well as with a very busy sushi bar and kitchen. Not inspired. Prices are good, and décor is terrific...but the food, no so much. Crab Rangoons are crispy filled with cream cheese and what appeared to be scallions (??). The Sesame Chicken, mushy and had an odd texture the chicken itself, weird really. Service was just O.K. no personality or engagement from "Tak". I think I will stick with Imperial Garden, not as tastefully decorated but been going there for years and very few disappointments. read more

Im giving Quans 3 out of 5 stars. I have been here many times but every since they have added entertainment and gotten more customers the quality of the food and service have gone way down. We where here last night and order Orange chicken at the bar after waiting an hour they realized we still did not have food, you could tell they where rushing trying to figure out what we ordered and then rushing the kitchen to get it out fast. The orange chicken was awful, the chicken was cooked but the batter on the out side wasn't, some pieces you couldn't even cut. Will probably never go back, unless it not busy. read more

The food is alright. They're drinks are watered down it seems like. The service is very slow and some of the bartenders/ employees are rude. I decided to stop going when I went there with my buddy from out of state to get diner and a few drinks. They questioned my friends ID and were extremely rude about it, treating us like some underage kids.( both 22). Go to T'sangs down the street they are a much better Chinese restaurant. read more

Delivery time is always right on the mark, the food is never cold, the order is always right, & most importantly the food is always really good. I have eaten at both the Hanover (dine in and take out) and Weymouth (take out only) locations. Regarding take out, the Weymouth location is superior, as expected, after all take out is all they do!! At the Weymouth location you always get a free sample item when you order a certain dollar amount. It's a great way to try new items. And I've made subsequent orders from the free samples. My take out always seems fresh and the fried items always remain crunchy. I do agree with other reviewers in that the waitstaff/employees are easily confused with substitutions or requests. Even as simple as sitting elsewhere, but I've experienced this in most Asian establishments. Other than their confusion, I've never had a really bad experience in the Hanover establishment. Minor issues, but they more than make up for it in the manner in which they treat my mother. If you've read some of my posts, I often take my elderly mother to lunch and base the service on how they treat her. For American Chinese food I think this place is very good. read more

I have eaten at Quan's 3 times since they opened. Each time it is better than the last. I think some of these reviews are a little unfair. Each time we have eaten there, the owner and his wife would stop at all of the tables and ask about the food and service. If anything was not up to par, they fix it! I had the Soft Shell Crap Spider Roll....The BEST I have ever had. The service has been great. Give them a little time. Much of the staff is new and they are quickly working out the bugs. This will be one of the Best Chinese Restaurants South of Boston. I would recommend it to anyone. read more

We've been to Quan's Kitchen several times and the food, service and atmosphere are all excellent! The lunch specials are generous, fresh and budget friendly. The menu has many options and is quite diverse filled with many delicious looking Asian dishes. The restaurant furniture and decor and artwork are high end and the bar is large and modern looking. The place is very clean and inviting and displays impressive authentic Asian statutes outside the building near the entrance. It is a family owned business and the servers are professional and friendly. The owners are always there and are very personable and genuine. You owe it to yourself to stop by and treat yourself and your friends! read more
