Our air conditioning stopped working on our Carrier unit so we called Qualtech. Omar quickly came out and diagnosed the problem as a dead fan motor with the cost to install a new motor of $1,500. We chose to pay him for the service fee and compare pricing and I'm glad that we did. My first call was to Compare Air Conditioning and they quoted me $480 installed for the same motor. When I called Omar and shared the price from Compare and asked him if he was interested in getting closer to that number he said that he'd speak with the owner on the price. He then quickly called me back and said they would not reduce their price so I chose to go with Compare. I just had Compare finish the work this afternoon. Qualtech was such a joy to work with. We originally reached out to them a year ago to see about getting a mini split installed in our bedroom (a converted garage where they did not run the ducting from the main house) and we decided to wait because we had just moved in and needed to save money. When we reached out a year later, they remembered us, gave us an updated quote and came out to make sure we were ok with the installation plan. We also added a 2nd unit in our adjoining family room. Daniel and Erika were so helpful getting everything together and very understanding when I had to postpone the installation due to getting COVID. The two installers showed up on time, were very professional, ran any changes by us and even flagged something we weren't aware of when they had to reconfigure the condenser so it wouldn't block our view from our french doors. Beware of Qualtechhvac - Our Experience with a Scam! We want to share our recent experience with Qualtechhvac to warn others about their dishonest practices. Timeline: * 5/14/2024: Technician Omar said our AC control board was out and that our air duct had a leak. He quoted us $600 to fix the AC and $1000 for the air duct. * 5/17/2024: Technician Abraham visited, said the air duct was fine, changed the control board (didn't fix the issue), then changed the transformer, which finally worked. Despite Abraham's initial statement, Omar convinced him to claim the air duct was fixed. My husband requested before and after photos of the air duct repair, but none were provided. Despite this, they insisted on charging us $1600. * 5/18 - 5/27/2024: We repeatedly asked for before and after photos of the air duct repair, but Qualtech ignored our requests. When Qualtech sent Omar to take after-fix photos on 5/21/24, We did not authorize any work on the air duct, but we heard Omar taping the air duct before taking photos, trying to falsify the repair. * 5/23/2024: We disputed the $1000 charge for the air duct repair with Credit Card Company. * 5/27/2024: We emailed Qualtech requesting a $1000 refund for the unnecessary and unperformed air duct repair. * As of 6/18/2024: No response or photos received from Qualtech. We feel scammed and ripped off by Qualtechhvac. If we don't get justice through our credit card dispute, we will file complaints with the BBB, consumer protection agency, and state attorney general, and take legal action. I had a very positive experience with Qualtech. Our heating and cooling ductwork had been damaged (pretty much destroyed) by rodents (well, rats) that had invaded the crawlspace under our house. We decided to purchase a heat pump mini-split system, in part because it does not involve any ducts (but only pipes that aren't vulnerable to rats or other rodents). Of the contractors we contacted, Qualtech's price was the lowest--way lower than the price quoted by one of the most prominent HVAC contractors in this area for a competing system. My research indicated that the system proposed by Qualtech was of high quality and adequate size for our residence. We accepted Qualtech's proposal, and the system (Mitsubishi) was recently installed. We were pleased with the job. Our system was installed by two employees--Antonio and Elijah. They seemed quite competent and experienced. They were courteous and friendly. They were responsive to our questions and concerns. They advised us and consulted with us about issues that arose--as they always do--during the job. Quick to respond in the latest heat wave. Leo came out and replaced our 1994 AC unit. These guys have replaced our upstairs unit quickly as well. Used them for my parents furnace in Walnut Creek as well as my sons condo AC in WC. Always fast to respond and their prices are within range. If I could get lower than one star rating,I would have. Technician named Francisco had come to troubleshoot and repair one of our AC units. To troubleshoot,he suggested to change a capacitor,which I did not have at a time. He offered a $17 capacitor for $360. I suggested to swap a capacitor from another AC unit that I have to determine if it is really the problem. His response wea that I had to do it. OK, I have agreed. I have taken a capacitor off the other unit in 3 minutes time and started to swap. Suddenly Francisco said that he cannot wait and had to go to another customer. I said give me another two minutes and we can troubleshoot. He refused. I said Ok,I ll finish the swap myself. In response,he gave me an invoice for $85 service call. I refused to pay,staring that he had done nothing to troubleshoot and repair the problem.Francisco left .y property. Two minutes later his office lady called and yelled at me for not paying service call fee. I politely told her that technician had not done anything,hence I was not going to pay. She continued to keep conversation with highly elevated voice. I had no option but hang up. Bottom line: This company is extorting money from people and should not be granted business read more

We recently had both furnaces and AC units replaced as the previous ones were over 20 years old and showing their age. The bid by Qual Tech was very competitive and matched other bids when requested. When it was time for the installation, Abraham and Leandro took great care in removing and installing the furnaces in the attic (no easy task) and keeping the house clean and damage free. It took 2 days for the entire work even when having to return to do the roof work after the rains stopped. Scheduling and communications with Erika were professional, prompt, and very helpful. They are running a special for an $89 air conditioning "tune up". What the tune up consisted of was actually nothing more than a "walk through" inspection. The guy didn't do anything other than look at the entire system to see if there is anything broken or that needed service. He removed my air filter and never put it back in - matter of fact he left it sitting on the front porch. He was supposed to check my fuses, he didn't check my fuses. He was supposed to give me a call when he was done; half an hour later, I still hadn't heard from him. I had to call their office. Their receptionist (Erica) didn't even know which client I was - she gave me a whole different story about what was going on with my system because she assumed that I was a different client andnthen blamed it all on a tech being out. Found Qualtech after receiving an ad in the mail. I was looking to add A/C to an excising central heat unit and duck work. After reaching out, the company was very responsive and provided a competitive quote which included a new heat/AC unit to the existing duct work. After agreeing to the work the job was scheduled for a couple weeks out and completed in a timely manner with no issues. The staff was very professional and called me everyday to explain arrival times and what was going on. We have used the unit all summer and had one issue in which I called and they responded that day and fixed (at no charge). During this recent heat wave, our AC unit suddenly started blowing only hot air. Our thermostats in the house was reading 86-89 degrees. With two elderly parents visiting, my wife and I were very concerned with the living conditions in our home. Since we still had our home warranty after buying our home less than a year ago, we felt relieved that we can take care of this problem immediately. Unfortunately, we were told that we would not be serviced until 3 days later which was unacceptable. I decided I rather pay out of pocket than wait for my home warranty services. My first call was to Qualtech Heating and Cooling in Danville, CA. Ericka understood my situation and acknowledged my concerns. They were able to book us the next day but also stated that they would call if their technicians are able to come earlier. The next day, we received a phone call that the technicians will be arriving in 5-10minutes of the estimated time I was booked for. The technicians Elijah and Omar arrived on time and presented themselves in a professional manner. After listening to my AC problems, they evaluated my unit, quickly diagnosed the problem and explained why the unit was only blowing hot air. Prior to any work, they presented me with the cost of the repair. Within a few minutes, our AC was up and running. I asked Omar if he can confirm inside if the system was running. He gladly checked a majority of our vents air flow with a temperature gun. Both Elijah and Omar stated that if there are any issues to give them a call and they will come back to re-evaluate. Reached out to them and several other vendors regarding some concerns with our vents delivering uneven heating and cooling to our baby's room. Of the three, that we felt were completely honest with us. They gave us several options to resolve the issue and introduced us to BAYREN (a rebate program for improving the energy efficiency of our home sponsored by PG&E). We eventually decided to replace our vents and our 25 year old Air Conditioner. Throughout the process they were incredible to work with. We negotiated a reasonable deal from several options presented to us then kept in touch while the equipment was acquired, prepped and installed. They said the work we agreed to would be a 3 day job, which they completed in 2. Afterwards, the Qualtech team (lead by Erika, their office manager) stayed on top of the rebate process, holding my hand every step of the way up until we received our rebate. More important than that, the new AC is much quieter and more effective than our old one and the flow of air into the baby's room is much more sufficient. I can't recommend Qualtech high enough.
